Multiple Facetime users on one iTunes Account?

I have an iTunes account that I registered my iPhone and my two daughters' iTouches on (so we can share music and apps). The problem is, I can't figure out how to log them on to Facetime since it seems to want my Apple ID. I figured out how to add their email addresses to my Apple account, but it still doesn't seem to recognize them. Is it even possible for them to each use Facetime on their own iTouch if we all share one iTunes account?

Based on my experience, I would say initially use you Apple ID to setup the FT account on each iPod . Then add their individual email address and then delete the Apple ID account. That is what I did for my iPod. My Mac uses my Apple ID while my iPod uses an alternate email address.

  • How to FaceTime and iMessage on multiple apple devices with one iTunes account

We recently received iPad 2's for Christmas and was looking for some advice on how to FaceTime and iMessage on multiple apple devices with One iTunes Account (Apple Id).  I have created or attached other e-mail addresses to our apple id but do not know how to use them on the new devices.  Our home MacBook Pro uses our main apple id for FaceTime.  The iPads have been setup with the main apple id w/o being able to use FaceTime and iMessage.
    Please Help...
I appreciate the help and support.

    P and V-
If you are trying to connect to someone with a different Apple ID, I think all the devices should work, but one at a time.
The problem is when you try to connect between two with the same Apple ID.  Once the calling device tries to make the connection, it finds the second device to be "busy".  That is where each needs to use a different E-Mail address when setting it up.
On iOS devices, when you press the Home button to exit an App, the App may still be active in the background, even when the device is sleeping.  If FaceTime or iMessage is merely being active that way, it may be enough to "tie up" the E-Mail address.
From the Home screen, double click your Home button.  You will see a list of recent Apps along the bottom of the screen.  Press and hold on one of them until they start to wiggle.  You will then see a red minus sign on each.  Pressing the minus sign will remove an App from the list, and stop it from working in the background.  (Click the Home button to stop the wiggling, and again to hide the recent Apps.)

  • Multiple users under one itunes account

I have multiple mac's (both desktops and laptops) as well as multiple iphones and ipads at home.  I am limited in itunes to only 5 devices - what should i do?  set-up a different itunes account for my kids (but then they will not be able to access the music and movies that have already been purchased).
Unsure how to best set-up 4 people (with each having an iphone, ipad and mac) itunes.
    Any suggestions?

Ideally, each will have their own iTunes account.
I am limited in itunes to only 5 devices
Each iTunes account is limited to 5 computers but 10 devices.
So you can have content from one iTunes account on 5 computers and also 5 iDevices.
set-up a different itunes account for my kids (but then they will not be able to access the music and movies that have already been purchased).
Yes, they will. Just authorize each computer for the other iTunes accounts.
Make sure you go to iTunes prefs > Store and disable Automatic downloads.
Also disable it on the iDevices in Settings > iTunes and App stores.
You can share content between users/libraries by using Home Sharing.

  • TS4097 we have multiple users in our family and multiple devices all sharing one itunes account.  i think we are all synced to one icloud account and it is a nightmare....contacts lost, text messags showing up on multiple devises etc.  how do we fix this?

We have our family sharing one itunes account.  we have 3 iphones, 2 macbook airs, 2 ipads and 1 mac.  I am not sure how we even got started on the icloud but somehow we did and everything is a mess.  The ipads are showing the text messages, the contacts are all combined, the apps that my duaghter downloads are appearing on all devices.  how do we fix this so contacts are not shared, messages are not shared and apps are not automatically synced to all devises?

You have two different issues going on.  You are getting each other's messages because you are sharing the Same Apple ID for iMessage.  This can be corrected by going to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive on add the devices and doing one of the following:
Either uncheck the email address shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at" on all of your devices; or
If you want to continue to receive iMessages at this email address on one of your devices, on all of the other ones tap the Apple ID at the top, sign out, then sign back in using a different Apple ID (so all devices will be using a different Apple ID for iMessage).  Note: you can continue to share an Apple ID for purchasing from the iTunes and App stores.  It does not need to be the same as the ID you are using for iMessage, FaceTime and other services.
The second issue is that you are sharing the same iCloud account on your devices.  When you do this any data you sync with the shared iCloud account such as contacts is merged and will appear on all devices connected to the account.  To fix this you both need to have separate iCloud accounts (you can continue to share the same Apple ID for purchasing from the iTunes and app stores).
First decide which device(s) will be keeping the current iCloud account.  On the one(s) that will be changing accounts, if you have any photos in photo stream that in your camera roll or backed up somewhere else that you want to keep on the device(s), save these to the camera roll by opening the photo stream album in the thumbnail view, tapping Edit, then tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share and tap Save to Camera Roll.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this device, not from iCloud.  The device(s) that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.)  When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On [iDevice].  Next, set up a new iCloud account using a separate Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom).  Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to the new account.  Repeat this process for all the devices that you need to migrate to new accounts.
When finished, to un-merge the data in your accounts you will have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't want (such as deleting the other person's contacts from your account, and vice versa).

  • ICloud with multiple family members sharing one iTunes account?

How will iCloud work for the case where multiple family members share an iTunes account but each has his/her own iPhone/iPad/PC?
Will iCloud replicate content based on email address, unique Apple ID, iTunes account, or??  If iTunes, we could have trouble as three of us share our iTunes account (started when our daughter was young and continued for simplicity).

Keep one Apple ID for iTunes purchases (apps, music, etc.) for all family members on the iTunes Store and use different Apple IDs for each iCloud user. That worked for me.

  • Using multiple iPhone's on one iTunes account

Hello, im not sure if this has been asked, i had a quick look but couldnt get a 100% answer.
My wife and i have 2 iPhones using one iTunes account, both have been updated to iOS5. We both can use iCloud and all the new features of iOS5.
When both iPhone's were set up i sent an iMessage to one of my contacts, they recieved the message and replied, the reply came in and was recieved on both iPhones. I know you can turn off in settings on the iPhone that i do not want to recieve the reply to but in doing so i will turn off iMessage on that iPhone.
On my iPhone i set up iCloud with my default iTunes email, and my wifes set up a new @me account. This has over come the problem of using Find My Friends App, so now she can have her own account.
Now if her contacts do not have her @me email in thier contact for her, she will not be able to utilise iMessage from iPhone to iPhone. Then comes the issue with making purchases on her iPhone as she is logged in under her @me, but purchases must be made with my email account so i can also have the purchases. Now your prob saying just log into my account when making purchases, but if she does iCloud won't work due to the app was not purchased using the same email address.
All i want to be able to do is use 2 iPhones on one iTunes account, be able to have seperate Find My Friends set up, both be able to have each others purchases, both use iMessage to each other and friends, both use seperate iCloud accounts.
If i am doing something wrong please let me know, or if you know how to do it.
My other theory is, i have added a different @me account to my iTunes account, could i set her iPhone up using this account, seeing that this one is linked to my original acount?

The Apple account used for iCloud can be different than that used by the App Store.  In other words, your wife can use her own iCloud account and use your Apple ID for the App Store and thus you can share apps. To change the App Store ID, go to Settings/Store and tap on the Apple ID. Then tap Sign out, then log back in using you Apple ID.

  • 2 iPad users using one iTunes account.  how best to manage this?

My wife and I both have ipads, ipods, and iphones.  We want to use one iTunes account but it has proven to be very frustrating.  any advice?

as far as we can tell, iTunes has no concept that this is iPad1 and this is iPad2.  The only to manage sharing 80% same content but diferentiating on 20% is to manage EVERYTHING manually.  With lots of apps, movies, and 80GBs of songs, this is ridiculous.  We can't be the only couple who want one account but lots of different devices with different desired items on them.
Some syncs can't be done manually so we have to go back and delete or add after the fact. Giant waste of time.
iTunes on the iPad is a bit of a joke.  it doesn't seem to have any relationship to iTunes on our primary computer.  It doesn't actually function the same way (doesn't actually store downloaded items) which leads to iTunes confusion, frustration, and sometimes duplicate buying.
I'm thinking I'll just wait for the cloud service but given apple's record with iTunes, I'm a little doubtful about that.  Appreciate the response.

  • Multiple users on one itunes account

Hi. I have 3 separate users on my Windows 7 machine with each having a unique library but all sharing the same itunes account. I want to split them up and give 2 of them new itunes accounts but obviously I want them to keep their library and if possible playlists etc. Is there a simple way to do that?

If they each already have their own library, there is really nothing to split up.
They can get new accounts and start buying new stuff as they wish.
The only problem will be any "protected" content that they may have purchased from the iTunes Store.  If the "protected" content is pre-2009 songs, they can upgrade those tracks to iTunes Plus, which will play without authorization.

  • Multiple devices with multiple users on one itunes account

How do I get my daughters iTouch on my same itunes account so we can share apps/music but so that I don't see her imessages?  Also - I don't want her messages coming across with my name.  Thanks!

It's an all or nothing feature as long as everyone has full access to the Apple ID. But every device can have a custom build. You don't have to put every bit of content in the libraries on every device.
Otherwise, you need a separate Apple ID for business.

  • Multiple ID's on one iTunes account?

Good golly Gee! Why is everything so difficult with apple?!?!?!?!?!!!!!!
Ok, I feel a tiny bit better.
My sons just bought used iPods and they like all the games I've downloaded, paid and free on my iPhone they've played for a long time. They want to have them on their devices. I want to add them as their own gmail names etc but have them go through my iTunes account so I can monitor what they do. How do I do this without cluttering up my phone anymore than the disastrous results that adding my new wife to my account and iCloud, which is still screwed up and my iCloud can't back up because there is no room on my phone, but hers is fine. Grrr I'm getting mad again because this is all way more difficult than it needs to be because apple can't seem to make account management etc as easy to do and use as their computers and iOS programs.
GREAT ***** TOADS! Even figuring out where to post this is a PAIN IN THE STINKING REAR END!!!!! I don't stinking know what community to post it in apple?

For info we are fellow users here on these user-to-user forums, you're not talking to iTunes Support nor Apple.
All downloads from the store are tied to the account that downloaded them - so those apps can't be moved to their own iTunes accounts, they will remain tied to your account.
Not sure what you mean by 'add them as their own gmail names etc'. They can have their own accounts for email, messages, iCloud, but to download those app (and to download any updates to them) they will need to use your account.
iOS 8 in the Autumn will have 'Family Sharing' : http://www.apple.com/ios/ios8/family-sharing/

  • Two computers/users. One iTunes account. Different question.

My husband and I share an iTunes account but 90% of the tunes in each of our libraries are specific to our own computers and we'd like to keep it that way. I set up iTunes match via mine, if I set it up on his (using the same ITunes store account) will the combined tunes show up on both computers? We wouldn't want that. They can live together in the Cloud, but I'd like the iTunes libraries to stay the same/

By logging into the same iTunes account and enabling iTunes Match the music from both computers will be visible on both. However, I think that you can hide the items in the cloud by pulling down View > Hide Cloud Purchases. I'm not sure if that menu command applies to iTunes Match, though.

  • Multi users on one itunes account

Hi I have my wife and daughter linked to my itunes account with their devices, how can I turn off the contacts or lock these to only show their contacts on their devices?

    Hi Daz,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The article below may be able to help you with this.
It sounds like your wife and daughter may need to create an iCloud account to for their own contacts, calendars, notes, etc.
