Multiple Language Implementation

I need help with a Multiple Language Implementation. We are in a process of implementation of Oracle HRMS/Self Service HRMS and I have some questions on MLS.
Thanks
Himanshu

Hello Sanket,
Thanks for the information. I did look at the document and it was very helpful. However I still have one question
If we do not install other language packs and enter the other language information in DFFs (this is assuming the database is UTF8) what are the issues we should expect. Would that data work fine with reports and interfaces.
Would it be possible for me to talk to you over the phone. I would not take more than 10 minutes.
Thanks again
Himanshu

  • CRM 2007 implementation in multiple languages

    Hi,
    We would like to implement SAP CRM 2007 Web UI and Interaction Center in multiple Asian languages like Chinese (Mandarin), Korean and Japenese.
    Is there a standard approach or documentation in this regard?
    How will Master data get translated?
    Is it necessary to maintain customizing settings descriptions in each of these languages?
    How to make UI help documentation available in these languages?
    If any of you have worked in this kind of scenario, please help.
    Helpful answers will certainly be rewarded.
    Regards,
    Paul Pandian

    You have to upgrade to Unicode if your systems are not unicode already.
    You have to maintain all the descriptions and texts in the master data multiple languages. See the note on [Unicode Conversion Guide|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/551344]
    If you have multi language already available in your R/3 or ECC system, then it is possible that your systems are in multiple code page.Unicode conversion from different code pages are different and you must watch for any restrictions. For example - Unicode conversion from HK Chinese using code page 8340.

  • How to implement textarea/text box to accept multiple languages

    Hi,
    We have a requirement that we need to have text area/text box on screen to accept multiple languages like (Spanish and russian) that means user can able to enter their text data either in any language like english,russian and spanish(It should be possible to enter the comments in russian and spanish languages). Is it possible to implement in java/j2ee?, If yes kindly provide us solution details. Any Help is highly appreciated.

    What exactly doesn't work? No matter the (spoken) language - its still only text data. The one thing you need to look out for is in no way specific to Java/JEE and that is that you employ proper character encoding and fonts to be able to display the language specific characters. If you don't know much or anything about character encoding, I suggest you research that. Start here:
    http://www.joelonsoftware.com/articles/Unicode.html
    BTW: its a bit of a silly question, don't you agree? No - you can only create English applications using Java! What a world that would be.

  • GRC 10.0 Notifications in Multiple Languages

    Hello GRC Gurus,
    In my Organization, We have a requirement to support French Language due to legal requirements in the Quebec provinvce. This means that all notifications to users in the Quebec province will have to be delivered in French.
    I have researched this in as far as:
    French Language has to be implemented as a prerequisite in SMLT
    The standard notification templates will be available in French language once the language pack is installed
    The issue i have here is:
    can the notifications be sent to different sets of users in different languages? I see that that one message class can only be associated with one document object. Is there a way to get around this to define who will get the notification in French and who will get it in English probaly based on USER GROUP or DEFAULT LANGUAGE
    Ofcourse, the message documents can be modified to present it in both English and French to make it easier but in future if there are legal requirement in others countries it does not make sense to keep adding the message body in all the required languages
    Can you please help?
    Regards,
    Prashant

    Hi Prashant,
    I was looking into a similar requirement and came to the early conclusion that GRC is not smart enough to handle multi language notifications.
    The reason why I say this is that whilst you can create multiple documents in SE61 in different languages, it looks like you can only create a single message class that gets aligned into MSMP, i.e no choice of multiple languages there.
    What I am unsure about (as I have never bothered to investigate it) is the "message number" column in the "Variables & Templates" section of MSMP. I am unsure if you can send a number of messages for the same template and message class.
    Also, I am unsure how GRC checks the user's logged in language and selects the document template.
    Have you considered having the content of the email contain dual languages? i.e. first paragraph in English, second in French etc?

  • How to store multiple languages using APEX

    Hi,
    I am asked to develop an Application where I have to store data in multiple languages. If someone enters their info in Chinese, I should be able to store it in Chinese and display it back. Has any one worked on a similar project ? What will it take to implement it ? Are there any documents on this subject ? Can any one help me ? I would really appreciate any suggestions on this.
    Thanks
    Naresh

    Hi,
    A couple of comments to begin with :
    - Your setup script, test case and error message are not consistent with each other.
    - You've not chosen the easiest road with DBMS_XMLSTORE and nested objects. As pointed out in a previous thread of yours, the whole thing would be far more simple with XMLTable.
    Do you really need to store the data in an object-relational structure at the end, or do you intend to further break it down into relational rows and columns?
    Do you have an XML schema?

  • Reports Output in MULTIPLE Languages..

    Hello -
    We have a customer with operating locations in China, Japan and USA. They are OK with using the application (Forms, Java etc) in English. But they have few Customer facing reports (Invoices, Statements etc.) that need to be printed in the local language (Both DATA and Labels).
    So it is NOT just labels but also the data (right, even the item descriptions, styles, color) etc needed to be printed in Local Language.
    I know one way we do this is by storing the data in multiple languages (Items Descriptions, Colors, Styles) in a table. But I am wondering if there is ANY Dynamic conversion utility that can be used at the report run time that can convert ENGLISH to local languages before printing.
    Any suggestions?>
    Thank YOU
    Bala

    Hi Norman,
    We have Siebel 8.0.0.8 implemented in ENU and FRA. I have an XLIFF for each language. However , when I run the report from the French application, the report generated has all the labels show up correctly in French. However, the LOV values still show up in English. If I set the Language Code parameter in the XMLP Report Server component to FRA, then the French LOV values show up in English and French reports.
    How do I get the correct LOVs to show up on the correct language reports. Any ideas ?
    Thanks

  • How to display Smart form in Multiple Languages ?

    Hello,
    Very Good evening!
    How can I print the Smart Form in Multiple Languages like Korea, German and Japneese....
    I got a requirement where I need to display the developed Smart form in these languages. As of now it is displayed only in the Language ENGLISH.
    Any Suggestions will be appreciated!
    Regards,
    Kittu

    Hello kittu....
    I would recommend that you create a single Smart Form in the primary supported language (or the one which you're most comfortable maintaining forms). Embed all necessary logic in this form, and design it with the idea that it would need to be viewable in multiple languages .
    Then use transaction SE63 to translate all necessary form components into each desired language -- one by one -- and they will all be bound together under the same form name. In my experience, a basic multi-column spreadsheet (put together with the guidance of professional translators) works well as a translation guide.
    The advantages of a single, shared form include: consistent look and feel, avoiding dual maintenance for shared logic (or, in your case, up to 10x maintenance), and simplified output determination. On the other hand, a single form does constrain your design and can make for a more complex implementation.
    Hope this is useful
    Best of luck,
    Bhumika

  • Support multiple languages in ESS-Portal (Webdynpro)

    Hi,
    We are customizing ESS and Portal using Webdynpro.  I have couple of questions here:
    A. ESS can support multiple languages but requires language configuration, where I need to do that?
    B.  We are implementing ERP04 ESS (Webdynpro services) there may be additional configuration of the homepage framework for specific languages in the the backend, where I need to configure in portal side?
    Can you help me out?
    Regards,

    A. ESS can support multiple languages but requires language configuration, where I need to do that?
    The portal picks up the browser language setting and shows the content accordingly. That works for Business Packages too. There is a language settings in your user profile for languages when the browser language is not supported.

  • Multiple Languages in Outlook mail for a workitem not working(Note 1230808)

    All Gurus,
    I am on ECC 6.0 with the below system details.
    SAP_ABA     700     0015     SAPKA70015     Cross-Application Component
    SAP_BASIS     700     0015     SAPKB70015     SAP Basis Component
    PI_BASIS     2006_1_700     0005     SAPKIPYM05     Basis Plug-In (PI_BASIS) 2006_1_700
    We have implemented Extended Notifications in our system and it has been working fine so far with a single language EN. Now, we got a new requirement to generate Outlook mails corresponding to a work item in multiple language (FR for French apart from EN). Towards this, I applied OSS Note 1230808, with all the pre-requisites taken care as mentioned in the Note in our Sandbox system. I found this note from following blog (Thanks to Mike Pokrara !!!)
    [Re: Extended notification languages]
    The FR text has been maintained for a standard task (Created by us only) as below:
    1. Task Description in FR is maintained thru' PFTC txn, by choosing the FR option, and
    2. Work item text for task is maintained thru' SE63.
    Also, as mentioned in the OSS note, a value 'C' has been maintained for Parameter "WI_TASK_LANGUAGE" in SWNCONFIG.
    Even after this implementation, when the emails are generated for an EN user, the Outlook mail is fine with all the text in EN, as expected. But, when the FR email is generated for a FR user, only the Workitem header text, the std. Header and Footer (maintained and picked up by std. SAP SO10 text) are translated into FR. But the Task Description part is still displaying in EN only.
    Anybody had same / similar issue for this reqiurement ?. Can anybody tell me if anything is wrong in the way we are implementing or any limitaitons or known issues of this note / requirement ?
    Your timely help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance & Best Regards,
    venu

    All,
    It was a type from our side while implementing the manual corrections that were part of the OSS note 1230808. We found this with SAP's help and it's fixed now.
    So, closing this thread.
    Thanks to you all

  • R/3 4.6C - SAPConsole - Multiple Language implementaion

    We are at SAP R/3 release 4.6C and planning to implement SAPConsole for raw material GR and GI in IM. Challenge is RF devices are in  in chinese and korean language. I have designed the business process and screens in english.
    Please advise how to implement console to handle  business transactions to and from the RF device while sitting on MDMP system(4.6c).
    What are big challenge I may have during implementation?
    How to configure console to handle english, chinese and korean language?
    What are the limitations with 4.6c and sapconsole to handle multiple language?
    Is there any SAP note related to such scenario?
    Any system admin related parameter whcih need special attention before implementation?
    Note: We have no plan to upgrade to ECC6.0.
    I will appreciate any input/help regarding such implementation.

    Hi Lee,
    I have connected multiple BWsystems to the same source R/3 system and as long as there are no compatibility issues, it is possible. Potential issue could be that your BW 3.5 system requires a certain plug-in version/patch level that is not supported by your other BW system as they are on different releases, so you will have to confirm that there is no issue with that respect. Also, this can present a future problem when you are applying patches to your systems.
    Another area of concern is Delta extraction of the same data source. If the same datasource is to send data to both systems, it will be a problem as the timestamps are stored in tables that are not specific to the target system. For example, some FI and CO datasources use table BWOM2_TIMEST. Every time a delta is extracted, the delta is determined based on entries in this table. However, this table is only specific to a client and datasource, not target system. Therefore, you will need to evaluate what data you will be sending to what system and using wht datasources and whether there would be any conflicts there.
    A possible solution to some of the above mentioned problems would be to have the data sent to one of your BW systems and then re-sent to the other system from there or used via RemoteCubes, for example.
    I hope that this helps!
    John

  • Multiple language correspondence with customer

    Ability to generate letters in multiple languages to inhance the communication between customer and the business. guide me how can we print letters in different languages.
    Thanks
    NIk

    Hi Michael,
    I should have told you that we are implementing SAP ESS/MSS business packages, so I guess there is no need to hardcode language content. I think I kind of understood your solution, but I am still trying to comprehend it fully. Please let me know if this could work.
    Let's say the WebLogic portal launches  the German quicklink - (/irj/portal/german). So this would try to open the portal in the default language which could be English. Let us say we have a hidden iView on the home page of SAP portal that sets the user's language to German. Would this display the SAP Portal in German language immediately as they are single-signed on from WebLogic. Or would it display in German only when the user clicks some other navigational menu after being logged on to SAP portal. If the problem is that the portal displays in the required language only for the subsequent clicks (i.e. after they log on), then maybe we can create a portal desktop to display home page in the correct language based on the portal URL alias using quicklink. Please let me know if this makes sense.

  • Multiple language support using UFL (or not)

    Dear forum members,
    I saw in another thread that it's possible to get a multiple language support within CR.
    I have to implement that functionality in my reports and I saw that it would be possible using a UFL but I dont really know how to do that.
    The text to be traduced is in a database, I have many ideas to deal with it but they are heavy or not really right.
    This issue must have been solved by someone before...
    Any keys?
    Thanks in advance.

    Not a trivial task. You will essentially have to create a UFL that converts wide char to MBCS and passes it back to report formulas. E.g. all of the fields that need to be translated will have to be in a formula - that is how UFLs work.

  • Question about support of multiple languages by installer (after modification)

    We are currently developing the plug-in of Adobe Illustrator CS5.
    I have a question on how to support multiple languages by that plug-in.
    I want to specify a  path according to a language of Ai and then install the swatch file when installing the plug-in(Extension) by Extension Manager.
    However, the swatch file cannot be placed in a desired path.
    The folder of swatch libraries to which Ai refers difffers from language to language, so I want to place the swatch file only in an appropriate  path according to a language of Ai...
        Japanese version of Ai    : [Ai installation path]/Presets/ja_JP/スウォッチ
        English version of Ai    : [Ai installation path]/Presets/en_US/swatches
    *In the case that the plug-in is installed into Japanese version of Ai, the expected result is that the swatch file is placed only in "[Ai installation path]/Presets/ja_JP/スウォッチ.
    As a way to place the swatch file according to a language of Ai, I described the following contents in MXI file(project.mxi) and then installed the plug-in.
        URL that I referenced  : http://help.adobe.com/en_US/extensionmanager/cs/using/packaging_extens ion.pdf
    --The contents of MXI file--
    <macromedia-extension  name="Extension Name"
    name_resid="name_ID"  version="1.0.0" ismultilingual="true" >
              -<omitted>-
    <files xml:lang="en_US">
    <file source="en_US/test.ai" destination="$presets/en_US/swatches"/>
    </files>
    <files xml:lang="ja_JP">
    <file source="ja_JP/test.ai" destination="$presets/ja_JP/スウォッチ"/>
    </files>
    <files xml:lang="it_IT">
    <file source="it_IT/test.ai" destination="$presets/it_IT/swatches"/>
    </files>
    When I installed the plug-in by the installer created by using the MXI file above, the swatch file(test.ai) was placed not in "$presets/ja_JP/スウォッチ" but in "$presets/en_US/swatches".
    Is there anything wrong with the MXI file above?
    Also, is there any way to place the swatch file in a desired path according to a language of Ai other than this way.
    If someone knows it, please let me know.
    [Implementation environment]
    OS:
    Windows7 Ultimate 32bit(Japanese version)
    Software and plug-in:
    Adobe IllustratorCS5(Japanese version)
    Adobe ExtensionManagerCS5(Japanese version)
    Adobe FlashBuilder4.6
    Adobe ExtensionBuilder2.0

    You might want to try the Illustrator SDK forum which may be able to answer your questions. Most people here are just users.
