Multiple Sent Messages for my .Mac account

For some reason I have two sent message mailboxes for my .Mac account. One is under the Sent grouping, i.e.:
Sent ->
-- Account 1
-- .Mac
-- Account 3
And another one listed with my .Mac folders. Both have the same contents. Any suggestions on how to get rid of the second?
Cheers!

Hi MrWynnm, you're welcome.
I don't see anything strange there. If Store sent messages on the server is OFF, the mailbox you see within the standard Sent group should correspond to the local ~/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/Sent Messages ([email protected]).mbox folder, whereas the folder you see within the .Mac account group should correspond to a (totally unrelated) mailbox stored on the server and cached locally in ~/Library/Mail/Mac-username/Sent Messages.imapmbox.
That explains why you see two mailboxes in Mail, BUT it doesn't explain why they both show the same contents. Try this:
1. Quit Mail.
2. Make a backup copy of the ~/Library/Mail folder, just in case something goes wrong. You can do this in the Finder by dragging the folder to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down, for example. This is where all your mail is stored.
3. Open Mail, delete the mailbox that appears under the .Mac account group... and let me know what happens...

  • Can we have multiple Podcasts with the same Mac Account?

    Hi all,
Can we have multiple Podcasts with the same Mac Account?
For example, I have a single .MAC account and create a website with multiple Podcast pages...or within iWeb I create multiple sites, and each has a podcast.
    Is there a problem?
    Thks
    Leo

Its not possible for the same development object. Only 1 person can access an object at a time and if mutiple users modify an object new TASKs are created under the same TRANSPORT.
Only after releasing the tr you can create a new tr on the same object.

  • Keychain Issue for the password for my mac account.

Keychain Issue. Keeps asking for the password for my mac account. When i type it, i keep getting "rejected the password. But it is the correct one. Verified in keychain access. "The .Mac server 'mail.mac.com' rejected the password for user XXXXXXXX. Please reenter your password, or cancel."
    Thanks in advance
    don

But may I ask why you're using separate servers for in & out?
I don't know the answer to that. For many years, it's always been set up like that. I have never changed anything.
Should i delete the .mac mail account & set it up again? If so, What servers should i use for incoming & outgoing?
Keep in mind i'm having the same issue on my desktop & laptop, both running tiger 10.4.11, as far as they will upgrade.
I do have a laptop running Lion, but that shows an icloud account, not a .mac account like the older computers. It also has a bellsouth account with the password that is correct and a gmail account which is working fine.

  • Mail won't show messages from my .Mac account

I have set up 5 accounts in Mail. Two of these accounts are .Mac mail accounts and the other 3 are verizon accounts. When I receive an email in any account, the Mail icon bounces on my desktop and makes its alert sound. I can check the 5 inboxes and retrieve messages from the verizon accounts, but not the .Mac accounts. The .Mac inboxes will tell me how many messages I have in those accounts, but I cannot read them in Mail. I have to do go Mac.com to read these messages! The Mac accounts are enabled. All of the accounts were set up before the new Mail came out and Mail worked fine until then, but I have not been able to read my messages in Mail from the .Mac accounts since the new version of Mail. Is this a common problem and is there something I can do to fix my inability to read these messages in Mail?

Let’s check whether the rules could have a bearing on this:
    1. Quit Mail.
    2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/.
    3. Locate MessageRules.plist and move it to the Desktop. If there is a file called MessageRules.plist.backup, move it to the Desktop too. You may also see MessageSorting.plist files there; this is where Mail 1.x stored the rules, and they are no longer used by Mail 2.x, so just move them to the Trash if you see them.
    4. Open Mail. As a result of removing the rules file, the junk filter will be disabled now. You may want to either tell Mail to go offline immediately after opening it, or shut down the Internet connection before opening Mail, to prevent it from downloading anything until the junk mail filter has been enabled again.
    5. Go to Mail > Preferences > Junk Mail, enable junk filtering, and configure it however you wish.
    6. Go online again if you went offline in step 4.
If the problem persists after doing this, then you know the rules have no bearing on it, and you may move the files on the Desktop back to the ~/Library/Mail/ folder, overwriting any files Mail may have created anew there (quit Mail first).
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder.

  • How do I find my password for my .mac account?

How do I find my password for my .mac account?
I open up 'Mail' on my macbook and this comes up - The iCloud IMAP server “p01-imap.mail.me.com” rejected the password for user “************”
No idea where to find out what this password is. Any ideas??

The password is the same as for the other iCloud facilities. If you can log into the iCloud website at http://icloud.com with the same password then you've probably run into a server issue which has affected some people, though you could try signing out in System Preferences>iCloud and signing back in again, which sometimes fixes it. (And sometimes doesn't.)
If you can not get into the website you can change your password at http://appleid.apple.com - click 'Reset password' and sign in with your iCloud ID (not your iTunes ID if this is different).

  • Need to edit server info for my mac account

How do we edit server details once a mail account is set up? I can't find a way. And somehow the server for my .mac account has changed from the standard smtp.mac.com.
    Thanks for your help.

I can edit my accounts. To do that to my Yahoo smtt server I go to:
Settings> Mail >Yahoo account>account info>SMTP Yahoo SMTP server>smtp.mail.yahoo.com>tap on the server host name and the keyboard pops up for editing.

  • Is iweb only for a Mac account?

    Hi,
I'm wanting to know if iweb is only for a Mac account. Can you use it if you already have an internet account with another provider?
    Thanks,
    Spiral Girl

    Hi Spiral Girl...
Along the same lines as what Max has touched on, there are several features that are ".Mac-only", meaning that they will not be available to you if you publish your iWeb pages on a non-.Mac server. Having said that, there are plenty of replacements for all of these "missing" features that even exceed the qualities of the .Mac ones.
iWeb also makes it pretty straightforward to publish to 3rd party servers. You simply select "Publish to Folder" and then iWeb puts all of your sitefiles in a folder for you...ready to upload. You must then upload the contents of this folder with any FTP program to your server. Pretty straightforward.
Tom Gewecke has a tipsheet on publishing to non-.Mac servers...

  • How sent message for any manager in Nokia ????

    Hi All,
I want sent message for any manager in Nokia , because of I facing a long suffering of Nokia .

Everything depends on what you wish to speak to a manager about. If  you are having issues with the service provided by Nokia Care in your country, whether that is the Nokia Care contact centre or a Nokia retailer or Care Point, then the local contact centre can advise you how to deal with your issue. In some countries, the contact centres have a department specifically to help you resolve your issue; and in some countries there are separate numbers to call in order to deal with issues or complaints. If you have already been through this process and are not satisfied with the result, you can contact the head office of Nokia in your country or region.
The link below takes you to a page where you can find lists of Nokia offices for all countries where Nokia has a presence:
    http://www.nokia.com/about-nokia/contacts/nokia-offices
Be aware that "Manager" is a very loose term, Nokia is a huge multinational corporation with large numbers of staff in a variety of rôles, and therefore there are many different types of manager with responsibility for different areas of the business, so it is important that your concerns about Nokia Care are addressed to the right personnel, which is why you are best to start with the Nokia Care line for your country, they are the main point of contact for all customer queries. Be aware that a letter sent to the wrong place may take a long time to reach the right people, and therefore does not help your cause.
If this or any post answers your question, please remember to help others by pressing the 'Accept as solution' button.

  • Iphone deletes sent messages on my mac

Hi guys - I have searched on this subject but to no avail.
When I sync my iPhone with my mac, it deletes all my messages from my Sent Folder on both my Mac and .mac and only keeps the ones on my iPhone (approx 34 messages)
This means if I want to search for an old email that I have sent from my Mac - I cannot find it which could be disastrous!
Is there anyway that I can set it so it doesn't delete messages from my mac or do I just have to turn off syncing mail?

I am sure that your iPhone has absolutely nothing to do with this. Your iPhone and iTunes does not sync messages in Mail. All that is sync'd is simply the account information (name, type, password).
What is more likely happening, is that you have set Mail to not retain sent messages locally, and the server side with sent messages to be auto deleted once sent, or upon quitting Mail. Or you have set up IMAP like settings, in that a deletion on one client (either Mail or iPhone) deletes the message from the server
You only need to sync your Mail accounts one time, then you can turn it off. You would turn it back on, when you modify account settings in Mail, add a new account that you also want on your phone, and you simply don't want to double enter that information again on the iPhone.

  • Changing From address for Apple .Mac account

    Greetings,
I use Mail with multiple IMAP email accounts. I'm using my .Mac account as my primary "incoming" account although it receives email for multiple addresses.
In my Accounts Preferences, there is a field to change the From address (by default [email protected]) so that when I compose messages my from address would be [email protected] (the primary address I use).
It lets me change this field and asks me if I want to save the changes, but then reverts back to [email protected] as soon as I move to another screen and come back.
Any suggestions on how I can configure Mail to handle this properly? Any other mail client such as Thunderbird would let me do this and it works fine for other accounts in Mail.
It seems that Apple put in a special rule to not let me change my .Mac account even though I can change all the others. That's something I would expect Microsoft to do but not Apple...
    Suggestions?
    ~Josh

I figured out how to do this by setting up my .Mac account as an IMAP account instead of .Mac. It takes the same settings, but lets you make the change to your from address.

  • HT2623 I forgot the password for my .mac account and cannot log into it from Apple Mail.  I have an iCloud mail account but did not convert my .mac account to iCloud.  How can I log into my .mac or .me email?

I set up .mac, including email, around 2006.  I believe my .mac account became a .me account, but I continued to receive email sent to .mac until about March 2013.
I accessed my .mac account using Apple Mail on an iMac running OS X 4.11.  I'm still using that machine.
In July 2013, I upgraded my MacBook Pro to OS X 8.5, bought an iPod Touch and set up an iCloud account.
I forgot my .mac password and I want to open an email message sent to my .mac email account.
When I attempt to log into my .mac account using Apple Mail, my password attempts are rejected by a .me mail server.
Is there any way I can restore my access to my .mac or .me email?
    Thanks,

  • Can I have multiple email icons for various email accounts on iphone 4s?

Recent Blackberry convert. Used to having multiple email icons (each with separate new message indicator) for my email accounts. Does this functionality exist either native to iphone 4s or possibly via a mail app? Would rather have option of multiple email views (either the consolidated menu the iphone has now or direct to a specific mailbox via different icon) rather than just the consolidated view.
    Thx!
    -jb
(Apologies if topic already exists -- couldn't find it)

You can have more than one mail account. To add more, you can do it in two places:
    1. Open System Preferences > Internet Accounts, and press the + button.
    2. Open Mail and go to Mail menu (on the menu bar) > Add Account.
Respecting to iCloud, you can have more than one mail address if you upgraded from MobileMe or if you used iCloud before the iOS 6 launch. In both cases, you will have a @me.com and a @icloud.com address

  • Restore 'Sent Messages' from deleted POP account

I deleted an old POP account, not realizing all my Sent Messages would be deleted as well. These sent messages were of great value. I'm not using Time Machine (will do now!).

I did too, I bought Boomerang Dada Revovery for OSX, but I still cannot find my old POP account. Any hints?

  • Why are there multiple keychain records for same email account?

I have noticed that it takes sometimes up to 45 seconds for Apple Mail to send (whoosh...) an email. Then I started getting an alert asking for my password intermittently.
I checked my KeyChain Access and note 5 records for this email account dating back to 2007 and while the password hasn't changed in all these years, I note the "Where" field is different in some of these records. So my uneducated hunch is Apple Mail is getting a little confused and having to go thru all 5 records insteads of just one.
As note multiple records for other email accounts and website logins I have.
    1. Why is this happening?
    2. Is it normal
    3. Can I, should I, delete all but one for each item be it an email account or web login, etc.
    or
Should I delete all 5 and let a brand new one be created for Keychain next time I send or get email for this particular email account?
I also see there is some info on keychain syncing. Does this have anything to do with my situation?
    Thx,
    Steven

I'm a little distracted with Steve's passing. He will be missed to say the least
But if it isn't too disrepectful to reply at this time, I'm unclear with your advise because there are 5 items all for the same email account. A couple are duplications, and the others have slightly different "Where" info.
I can't imagine I need all 5 and wonder if I should delete 4 and keep the newest one?
All my email accounts have multiple entries.
Anyone know why this is happening and if it's OK to delete the oldest ones and keep just the newest?

  • Receiving multiple e-mails from another .Mac account

I don't know if anyone else is experiencing this, but my fiance and I usually e-mail each-other back and forth throughout the course of the day. I, via my .Mac account on my iPhone and her, through the .Mac webmail.
The last few days, however, I've been receiving duplicate e-mail from her on my iPhone. It started out a few days ago with just one or maybe two duplicated in my inbox, but today I just received SEVEN copies of the same e-mail. She, on the other hand, is not experiencing the duplicate e-mail which leads me to believe that this is an iPhone related issue.
If its of importance, we're on a "Family Pack" .Mac account and it doesn't seem to make a difference if I'm connected via WIFI or simply EDGE.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.

Perhaps much more detail would help?
Could you ever send e-mail from the iphone?
Can you send e-mail from the same account on your computer?
When you try to send e-mail from iphone to you get an error message?
    What is the message?
Do you have a connection to the internet (edge, 3g, wi-fi)?
