Multiple shared services installs in the same environment?

In IOP 11.1.2 and beyond, shared services handles user authentication, to take advantage of Active Directory.
Can you install EPM shared services on 2 nodes in the same environment (failover in case one goes down)?
Is this possible or recommended?

Note that one of the instructions in the active-active-clusters white paper is to install shared services on two nodes, to prevent a single point of failure.

Multiple 11gR2 Clusterware installations on the same subnet using GNS

Hi,
I am hoping someone could shed some light on an issue I appear to have regarding the installation of 11gR2 Clusterware.   The main issue is that I have a host-vip.subdomain that fails to startup on installation. This is my 3rd cluster in my environment; the other 2 installed/configured ..fine.   This install fails because the host-vip.subdomain does not resolve with its own GNS service.
Further investigation lead me down a path involving my other clusters.   I found in my DNS server /var/log/messages file that the host-vip.subdomain was trying to resolve to host-vip.subdmain.subdomain_clust1 on IP xx.xxx.130.20.   However, this cluster's GNS service is listening on xx.xxx.130.22
More detail on the environment:
I currently have in production, two 2-node clusters.   Not RAC..just 2-node linux clusters; On the production clusters, I do have a single-instance database running in a 'warm failover' configuration.   I do use SCAN to access each of the database on their respective clusters.
I am using GNS and DHCP (obviously) to generate the VIPs for each cluster.    Cluster1 GNS IP - xx.xxx.130.20 ; Cluster2 GNS IP xx.xxx.130.21.   Both are configured in DNS and resolve the SCAN address to each of the VIPs on that server.
When testing SCAN access to the database, I noticed that a tnsping DB1 - which uses SCAN-name1.subdomain1 connects fine.   Also, tnsping to DB2 using SCAN-name2.subdomain2 connects fine as well.
However, the weird part is that if I use each others subdomain..they still connect ...ie....tnsping DB1 using SCAN-name1.subdomain2 ...still connects to DB1.. albeit , it takes about 10x longer to get a response.
This has lead me to the idea that since GNS is basically a mDNS service, broadcasting on the subnet .130...could it be possible that ANY GNS service on that subnet could resolve a name lookup request for any other GNS on the same subnet , and during installation of a new server, cause a new VIP to go to the wrong GNS service ?
So, my question is this : Is there any requirement I may have missed that state multiple Clusters using GNS / SCAN MUST BE on different subnets, as to not interfere with each other's lookup requests ?

the following overrides.
-Dtangosol.coherence.clusteraddress=P1Cluster -Dtangosol.coherence.clusterport=11111
where p1Cluster=224.2.1.99 (say)

Multiple BAM installations on the same machine?

Hi guys,
I have a customer with the following requirement:
"We have installed BAM 10.1.3.3 with EL and upgraded to 10.1.3.4. It is currently using a remote database 10.2.0.3 in our test envt. We want to use the same Windows server for monitoring our Development enviroment also using the Dev database. Is it feasible or will it corrupt the IIS of the windows machine already running BAM 10.1.3.4. Please provide your recommendations on this, whether to have separate windows servers or we can have multiple BAM installations on same server."

How to connect to the multiple system in the same environment

We are integrating SAP EP and BOE . We are facing SSO problem ,as there are 2 system in same environment .
Suppose we have XX1 and XX2 as BW backend system . IF Default entry on server is kept blank then we get :
"u2022 Account information not recognized: No SAP system was passed as part of the user name and there was no default system defined. User credential validation cannot continue. " error.
Whereas if we give XX1 as defaut system on server , then SSO is not happening we as are XX2 users .
Anyone has any idea on how to connect to multiple backend system in the same environment .

There is a trust system and the trusted systems. One system can trust in many other systems. You have just to configure it exporting and importing the certificates as explained in the link.

On V8 there is the possibility to use different FixPak levels when using the Alternate FixPaks provided by IBM.
SAP allowes you to use the Alternate FixPaks in your test environment, but NOT in production.
Here is the remark from OSS note 101809:
Remarks on "alternate FixPaks"
    o DB2 Enterprise Server Edition (ESE) Version 8.1 for UNIX-based operating systems now supports the coexistence of multiple FixPak levels on the same system through the use of "alternate" FixPaks.
    o On details on this feature please refer to official IBM Web sites.
    o "Alternate FixPaks" are not supported by SAP. Their use should be restricted to testing purposes.

Please keep in mind that if SAP requires a special build for a certain FixPak there would be no Alternate FixPak which contains the same fixes and therefore you cannot use it at all. OSS note 101809 contains the necessary FixPak information.

Has any open come across the following requirement? I have a customer that is interested in 'sharing' laptops with multiple offline users with the ability to sync. Can we have multiple disconnected users on the same laptop? If so what would be the options? The challenge is how to manage multiple extracts on one MWC installation. I suspect that 'OOTB', we only support one extract per machine/installation of the MWC. We may be able to support multiples, but it would take some config/customization.

Shared Services Installation Error

Hi all
im very new to Essbase and have little experience in the installation process.
I followed the documentation and managed to install Shared Services (SS) and the BI products.
I encountered and error when trying to install some essbase analysis products and could no longer start shared services. I proceeded to un-install and re-install the packages again thinking it would be simpler.
When i re-installed SS a fresh i received an error on the command line when attempting to start the configuration utility despite receiving non errors in the actual installation.
This is as follows:

There is no JRE Folder within the \Hyperion\common folder containing the jvm.dll that im told by a colleague usually exists.
Im running Vista Buisness, and have the JRE 5.0 Update 11 installed if thats any help.

The path was "C:\Hyperion\deployments\Tomcat5\bin\HyS9SharedServices.exe" Im guessing this is a consequence of the install proceedure not being done correctly by msyelf? Also found this in the conifgtool lo:

Hyperion Shared Services Installation Problem (URGENT)

I have installed the Hyperion Shared serives 9.3.1 with Oracle Application server and configured with the same but in
services.msc i am able to see only HyperionS9OpenLDAp. i did the all post task and did manual configuration for
Oracle Application Server like
1 Created new OC4J instance for Shared services

I have the same supported Version of ORACLE APPLICATION SERVER 10g 10.1.3.1 and for the not able to see the Hyperion Shared Services service in Services.msc as while installing Shared Services there no Option like Deploy as Windows services so not able to see there i think.Please correct me if wrong.
Here i have one doubt while Configuring Shared Services with Oracle Application Server we are not specified the port number for Shared Services. So is it takes the same PORT number and URL is
http://<servername>:58080/interop/
Please clarify me.

You can schedule a single task or multiple tasks automatically directly from the
dispatch center. The scheduling criteria applied come from Advanced Scheduler.
Make Sure, you have the advanced scheduler. With out Advanced Scheduler and by just using Advice, you can only assign one task at a time.

How do I update my VMM Guest Services to be the same as the Hosts?
In VMM 2012 SP1 I right click on a VM and select “Install Virtual Guest Services” it installs as expected.
Cluster validation reports this error:
The following virtual machines are running integration services that does not match the host computer. You must update the
integration services on the virtual machines or the host computer to the same version.
I am able to go to the VM on host and update the Guest Services using the hyper-v manager but I would like it to work in VMM.
The version on the ISOs on the host is. 6.2.9200.16433 and the version being installed by VMM is 6.2.9200.16383.
I am not sure where VMM gets the it’s guests services from.
Any idea on how I update VMM to match the host?

I have a Problem, after the installing from Acrobat Testversion and acrobat reader in version in "all Combination" 8 an 9.
I get this misstake information "you can not use multiple instance of Program at the same time" if I want open more then 1 .pdf.
If I have no pdf open, but acrobat/reader so i can´t open with the same Misstake.
I have deinstalled and installed, Allways I bekame the same information. I tryed all things to clean and know i don`t know forward.
Important: by Drag an Drop in the Acrobat Reader it is going, but by direct click on the pdf i get mistake.
Maybe, you know what I can do!

Installation of both Acrobat and Reader in the same Windows machine is not advisable. If I were you, I would remove both completely and then reinstall the one you want to keep.

I'm fairly new to this, but I think it has to do with the way you have the drop downs named. Did you copy one then keep pasting it in each field? If so, that is the problem. You should rename each one with a different number: Dropdown1, Dropdown2, etc. I think that might solve the issue.

Unfortunately, you cannot change your primary @me.com or @icloud.com email address, you could however create an alias or create a completely new account.
