Muse to Dreamweaver?

Can I build my business web site in Muse and import it into my CS3 Dreamweaver to edit and update it?  I want to be able to update it and edit it without having to pay a new subscription everytime I want to change it.

It has been 4 years since I last used Dreamweaver to build a site for myself, which still needs work, and I have to relearn it.  I do not know code and have to look at the code changes using logic and process of elimination to figure out what a specific code does. Trial and error is the only way I have to plod through Dreamweaver, and I don't have much time or money.   It seemed a perfect fit to use Muse, as knowing code is not necessary to make it work, but I don't want to have to subscribe $25 every time I want to make a change, but I will if I can save time in the original creation by using Muse.  Graphic art is my hobby, not my proffession.  I am visually oriented and have ideas on how I want my site to work.  As described, Muse seemed a perfect program for me to work with.  I have taught myself Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, and got enough into Dreamweaver 4 years ago to half build a site.  Your reply makes it sound like I may be in for plodding through editing Dreamweaver even with starting it on Muse.  Is that correct?

How can i turn a photoshop file into a website with knowing code? can i upload Muse or DreamWeaver?
I created a few images (pages for a site) on photoshop and want to turn them into HTML code for a website- Can i Just upload the file into one of these programs and make a file with the correct code imediatly?
I was reading about using EDGE Reform but i did not understand if i can create the code with it, in the end it says it still needs to be sent to website developer after?

You need to look at Dreamweaver as a code editor. You need to learn to create good, clean HTML code with style sheets to make websites with Dreamweaver.
There are tutorials that will take you from a layered .PSD file to HTML. Here's a good one:
    http://net.tutsplus.com/tutorials/site-builds/from-psd-to-html-building-a-set-of-website-d esigns-step-by-step/
Adobe's Muse is a semi-WYSIWYG website layout creator for small websites (1-5 pages). But there is no way you can go from a .PDS file to Muse, you have to start the site in Muse.
I have seen a few Muse sites and they're OK, but there is some code that Muse creates that is kind of odd. If you want a good, clean website that will work for you or your business, Dreamweaver is the best choice. Alternatively, you could hire a pro.

  • Muse to Dreamweaver (Social Network capabilities in muse?)

    Hello,
Alright I'm a beginner here with these products so I apologize if any of these questions or statements are a little slow. So right now I'm trying to create my first website, using whatever software is needed (I just purchased creative cloud membership). I've used Muse to create a few websites just kind of learning the ropes. So now I'm hoping to kind of dive in by creating a "social networking," site. Apparently this is a lot more work than I thought it would be. I've used photoshop to create images and Muse to put the site together, then exported the HTML from muse to dreamweaver and this is all working fine. (site is connected and working on the internet). Now for my questions,
1.) First off I need to ask, is it possible to create a social networking type site entirely with muse (much like facebook, upload photos, have your own profile, news feed, etc)? Pretty confident the answer is no but ideally that'd be what I'd like to use just so much easier.
2.) I've cruised through a lot of tutorials with no luck. I really would like a good book that can kind of walk me through this whole process, (social networking design via dreamweaver or muse or whatever) so that I can learn via this way. Anyone know of any good starter walkthrough books or tutorials I should watch? I've watched the create your first website with Adobe and I understand that stuff but the whole having users, and managing their data is throwing a wrench in my progress.
    Thanks for any help

    I'm trying to wrap a class/link around a custom button I created so that it will replace a floating 3rd party button such as;
    <a class="ethor_widget_button"href="#"><img src="My_Order_Button.GIF" alt="Online Ordering"></a>
and when clicked, will trigger the main scripting code that I place in the page properties head section. Note: that the 3rd party originally requested that the main script be placed somewhere near the bottom of the <body></body> however muse does not seem to allow access to this area.
I did past the main script in the head and it sort of to works when previewed. I won't know for sure until I provide the class/link around the custom button and publish the site to BC.
I'm trying to open a 3rd party food item selection and ordering process skin over the site pages when the custom "Order" button is clicked.

  • How to import Muse into Dreamweaver

I am trying to import my muse website into Dreamweaver because i want do design my website in muse and then use PHP and MySQL to make blogs and membership systems etc. When I open dreamweaver and right-click  on the Muse website and press "Open With - Dreamweaver", it starts opening it (it only opens the Muse website and just shows a blank HTML)... then Dreamweaver stops responding and i have to close it. If there is any way of making a membership system and blog in Muse (which only certain people can edit [not using Muse]) then please reply an answer... or if possible can people please respond on how to open a muse website in dreamweaver.
    Thanks in Advance

As a non-coding designer, I'd rather design and hand off or collaborate with a Dreamwear person who can do the html coding and maintenance. My interest is in what the viewer sees and how they use it, not necessarily know how to create code. Most of us know how to drive a car, but few know how to build one. Rather than let Muse become a "whipping post" and the bane of all Dreamweaver coders, perhaps Adobe might entertain the idea of making Muse files Dreamweaver friendly. They certainly have accomplished this in other areas ala Creative Suite. Business Catalyst is just their answer solutiion, but for many clients, isn't the way they conduct their business.
So  in the meantime, it would great if people who are Dreamweaver evangelists provide some insight about figuring out how best to make things work. I mean it's you folks that are working under the hood. And, I respect that.
    Thanks,

  • How to work between adobe muse and dreamweaver in different computers?

    Hi there,
i am working with muse and I have a dev who is helping with some code working in DW. I need to be able to update in muse and keep the same changes the developer mades in Dreamweaver.
What I have been doing to date is linking the business catalys to dreamweaver and it works till a certain stage.
I wish I could do all changes and then update but my ' boss' keeps changing mind on structure and look of the site
    Kind regards
    A

There is no backwards compatibility between Muse and Dreamweaver. You cannot mix the two programs.
Well, I shouldn't say you can't because you can but it is very tricky and depends on how you have it set up. If Dreamweaver has to make changes to the actual pages made in Muse you will break compatibility with Muse.

  • Changeing a site from Muse to Dreamweaver in business catalyst

HI guys, I have used various forums in the past to answer many questions about web design but never have I actualy asked a queastion - I really hope someone can help me please! (I can't seem to find a simple answer anywhere!)...
    So here goes...
Being new to web design I created my very first site in Adobe Muse. My reasons for this were coming from a graphics/ print bacground the transition between the programs were really easy. I created my muse site quickly and uploaded it to business catalyst (incredibly easily) under the domain  www.keep21.co.uk.
However as I progressed in learning more about web I decided to try and move away from Muse because I wanted to have more control of the code. For this reason I started to learn Dreamweaver. Being a person who never does anything by half I decided I would start from the basics and firstly learn HTML and CSS before I looked into the program. Having gotten my head around that I created a root directory and began to re-create the site I had built in Muse by hand-coding it into Dreamweaver. I made a few changed a long the way to simplify the design and I am now happy enough to take this site live (replacing the muse site I'd already created). HOWEVER.......... I have noooooo idea how to do this and have become very confused.
Can anyone please explain how to do this please? So to re-iterate I am looking to replace the files I have on business catalyst for the site 'keep' with my new dreamweaver site.
When I started the site I created a root directory and have four basic pages within the folder (index.html, about.html,pricing.htm and contact.html) I a lso have images, templates and CSS ready to go.
    Any ideas?
    Kind regards
    Hannah

    Hi INTW,
While in Dreamweaver, Go to Site>>Manage Sites...  >>Import Business Catalyst Site
Login if prompted and then select the site from the list and choose your current root folder
A connection will be automatically setup.
If you left the download entire site checked, the current remote site folders and files will be downloaded to your root.
All you have to do is upload your new files then go to your admin and set the 'site's start page'.
That's all there is to it.
PS, id suggest you 301 redirect the old pages instead of deleting them.

  • How do I put a video created in adobe muse in dreamweaver to finish my web page for an assignment?

I am new to Creative Cloud, etc.  I created a video/slideshow in adobe muse and am wondering how to get it in my webpage/Dreamweaver?  I do not have a domain name or website or anything like that.  Just trying to complete an assignment.

Muse is a web design program.  I seriously doubt you created a video in it.  You might have embedded a video you created elsewhere inside your Muse web page.  Is that what you mean?
You'll get better answers to specific product question if you post them in the appropriate product forums.

  • Muse to Dreamweaver CS6?

So, I had a friend build my website. He used Muse. I can't seem to edit any of the content with DW CS6. From reading other's posts, I see that this is a problem. However, the most recent version of CS that is discussed in any of the online forums is 3. So, I'm hoping the interchange is possible with CS6. My friend assured me that all Adobe platforms are compatable. Can anyone help?

Sorry to hijack your reply here  but what I have just read had made me fear that similar could be true for my site.  I have done it using Kompozor (I know!..) because when I began I knew nothing (aromatherapy is my forte; not computing!).  I have been considering a pruchase of dreamweaver software to learn using better software but was browsing the forums for a wayto ask a question but couldn't find my answer.  I wanted to know if dreamweaver could be used to edit my existing site and I fear that in answering ehmomo's question you may also have answered mine.  What do you mean by is the code bloated?  Could I be cheeky and ask someone to take a quick peek at the code of one of my pages to see if it is "bloated"? http://www.essentialoilsforhealth.biz  If it is what does this mean and would dreamweaver now not be a viable option?  Many thanks.

  • Inadequate rendering from Muse to Dreamweaver

Attached is an image of a screenshot of the Dreamweaver design view rendition of an HTML file exported by Muse. On the right is the same HTML file in MS Expression Blend's design view. Clearly the Dreamweaver design view is inadequate. In a browser (Chrome) the HTML file looks almost exactly like the Expression Blend design view. Hope you guys can fix this asap. I don't like working in Blend.

Are you working within a Defined Local Site in DW?  Without this critical first step, DW cannot properly manage assets for you.
Go to Site > New Site.  See screenshot.

  • Moving site from Muse to Dreamweaver

If a website is written in Muse, what is the procedure for moving it to DreamWeaver?

    Hi,
You need to export the site as HTML from File > Export HTML. Once exported, you can open it in DW.
PS : You can't import the site back into Muse after making the changes in DW.

  • From Muse into Dreamweaver?

After exported a muse project´s files, such as html, css etc. What can I do to make an html page´s design visible for me in Dreamweaver´s designmode?
(I need to work further with forms which need to function on another webserver than Business Catalyst´s.)

    jkijki wrote:
They say you cannot import Muse files into DW. that way they get to sell two progmams
That's not entirely true. You most certainly can use the 'Export as HTML' tool in Muse and then do whatever you like with the files in any HTML such as Dreamweaver, Edge Code or any other HTML Editor or even a text editor.
However once it is edited in another program you will not be able to make changes back in Muse.

  • Ive been told to rebuild my site, should I use Muse or Dreamweaver?

    Hi everyone,
Just recently I had someone perform an audit on my website and the results that came back weren't good. It seems I have all sorts of problems with my site, mainly from an SEO perspective. The guys that did the audit said they could rebuild it for me, but the quote was very expensive. I'm thinking I might do it myself to try and save some money. A good friend of mine suggested I use Muse, but before he mentioned it, I'd never heard of it.
I've only ever designed my sites using Dreamweaver, and am very confident using it.
So my question is, should I use Dreamweaver or Muse? Which is better? Is there really much difference?
Oh, and here's my site if you have any suggestions. Muted | gear
    Thanks.

I found your site alittle too big on images and low on manu bars but nothing that needs a major redo... you don't ask for credit cards.
As for the other thread, yes muse is not a dreamweaver replacement but it also has improved a lot in the last two years so some of that post is out dated.
I'd watch the Muse demo veds and make a test page or two to get your basic design then you can always load that into dreamweaver to fine tune the code... any thing made with Muse is happy to be opened in Dreamwever so worse case is you finish with a site that cann't stay with Muse.
p.s I only looked at 10 or so pages but didn't see anything Muse can't make on it's own, any way.

  • Best Adobe website program to use with Creative Cloud - BC, Muse or Dreamweaver?

Hi - I'm new to Adobe Creative Cloud and I'm planning on having at least a couple of my websites designed/hosted using ACC. My question is, I noticed that Adobe has three different pieces of software for website production. I'm aware of Dreamweaver, but I'm willing to give either Muse or Business Catalyst a try since I wouldn't have to do any coding. Does anyone have a preference either way as far as website design w/Adobe Creative Cloud goes? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Depends entirely on your preference.
I avoid BC's interface like the plague because it has a tendency to "correct" my code in ways that I don't want (like adding html line breaks into javascript and commenting out things.) Between Dreamweaver or Muse I like DW because at least it gives you more control over your code.
But I use notepad++ and i'm perfectly happy. You don't have to use Adobe software to work with BC if you don't want to, though obviously they would prefer it if you did

  • Do creative cloud website have to be created with muse or dreamweaver?

A friend of mine has built me a website but Im not sure if I can use my creative cloud subscription to host this site? Is this possible, if so how?
    Many Thanks

The Creative Cloud hosting platform (aka Business Catalyst) can be used with any code editor, and even provides its own web-based editors.
You don't need Muse to use it.
You may have to spend some time adapting the sites code if it was originally designed for a different host platform, such as Wordpress.
