Music app has issues

On my iPod Touch 4th gen. running iOS 5.0.1 has trouble in the Music app.  When I try to Listen to a song I want it is only under songs, I can't find it in Artists.  The songs are by Queen, and I have checked to make sure they aren't comp.'s. Please help!

Try to:
1. Connect your iPod Touch 4G to PC/MAC
2. Go into Music tab
3. Click Right on your song/s
4. Get Info
5. Write the Artist

  • My Pre-installed music app has been deleted from my phone, how do I get it back?  It is not in my purchased apps.

Help, my pre-installed music app has been deleted from my home page.  It is still in the settings but no app to play music from.  I love my music!
    Starrbelle

Locate it- Scroll through the home screens !
Hold your finger on it till the icons start jiggling now move it to the left of the screen and hold it there.
In the back ground the homescreens scroll back towards your first screen.
When you reach the first home screen position icon where you want (If you have sixteen -the last one will move to the second home screen)
Whilst they are jiggling choose which ones you want on the first home screen.
You can also add access to more by creating folders containing similar types of apps by dropping one app icon on another icon as well.
When finished organizing press the home button to fix the setting.
Similarly you can add or remove app icon short cuts from the dock to suit your preference.
When you move them off the dock they are added to your home screens. (think of the home screens as an analogous to the desktop of your PC

  • The music app has re-ordered songs

The iOS7 update to the music app has re-ordered all the songs in the albums, even though the correct song numbers are next to the songs

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Music app has disappeared and i have tried everything please help

My music app is completely gone and i have no idea where it has gone. i have tried restarting, resetting, and other tricks but non have worked if u have an answer for me, i would really appreciate it.

Have you done a spotlight search? Swipe down from the middle of the screen with two fingers, and type Music in the spotlight search. You should see the Music icon display in the list. See if it is in a folder (if it is the folder name will be listed next to the icon). If it is not in a folder, but displays, see if you can find it on any of your Home screens.
If you still cannot find it go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout. This will reset your Home screens and the original Apple core apps will show up on the first Home Screen (including Music).

  • My music app has a little glitch in it. needs to be fixed!!

When i want to peacefully hear music, I click on a song. then, it skips two songs and immediatly go to the playlist. i try ALL the other songs but the same things happen!! please help!!

I can think of a few things which might be causing this.  The first might be the "shake to shuffle" feature, which used to cause my iPod Touch to skip to a new song if I hit a bump when driving, even if I didn't think the bump was that big.  The second thing that might be causing your problem is if the music you loaded was purchsed with an AppleID which is not authorized on the computer which you synch your iPod Touch from.  This occassionally happens to me, because we have some items which were purchased under my wife's AppleID, and some under mine.  When I have to re-install on my PC, if I forget to authenicate her AppleID, anything which she purchased is not playable on my device until I re-authenticate with her AppleID too.  This could also happen if a friend copies music to your computer, or gives you an iPod with music already on it...

  • Wolfenstein 3D app has issues iOS7

Wolfenstein 3D Classic, Wolfenstein 3D Platinum and Wolfenstein Classic Lite all have running issues on iOS7. The screen either flip or crash during the game, or they freeze. Sometimes the player is left spinning in a circle, without touching the screen. Is there a patch or an update for these and other issues?

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.

  • Music app shows unknown artist for compilation albums

I just submitted a bug report to Apple, though I can't believe I am the only person with this issue.
Since iOS7 (I am currently on iOS7.0.4) I have noticed that the music app (along with many many other issues) will no longer display the artist for compilation albums that I have.  In iTunes the artist on the compilation is clearly defined but in iOS7 the Music app simply states "unknown artist".
Surely I am not the only one with this issue?

I am very annoyed by this bug too, I have  a lot of compilation albums and soundtracks with lots of differents artists, and my library is super organized in iTunes, with the “Album artist” field empty and the “Part of a compilation” checkbox enabled, and it shows the compilations as a “Various Artists” album.
But when I tried to download through iTunes Match in my iPhone 5C some few songs from those albums today, I found out that the music app has this bug that makes almost all of the compilation albums appear within this “UNKNOWN ARTIST” category under the artists tab.
It is very annoying and I hope Apple fixes this, cuz it is driving me crazy.

  • Music app problems with iPad 2 (iOS 5.1.1)

So lately I've been noticing the music app has been acting up. A while ago I deleted songs directly off of my iPad and then when I plugged it into a computer, the tracks came back but you cannot play them - they're faded, but you can still see all the information and stuff, I don't know if they're taking up memory or not. I know I should just go onto the computer and delete them from there, but it's still annoying. Another thing, sometimes it doesn't let me go to the previous song without putting up a fight. I have to repetitively press previous at least 10 times in a row, very fast in order to go back to just one song. Just a few moments ago, when I clicked on a song it would play a random one, not the one I selected. It did that to every song I selected, and then it suddenly started working correctly again. Lastly, I noticed that I've been missing a few album covers that were once there.
I just want to know if anyone else has been having the same issues at all? Thanks.

I know I should just go onto the computer and delete them from there, but it's still annoying.
You don't have to delete music on your computer to remove music from an iPod, iPhone, or iPad. If you have Sync Music selected under the Music tab for your iPad sync preferences with iTunes and you have Sync Only Checked Songs and Video selected under the Summary tab for your iPad sync preferences with iTunes, you can uncheck the songs in your iTunes library or in the selected playlist in iTunes that you want removed from the iPad followed by a sync.
Any change after powering your iPad off and on and/or after a reset, which is done by pressing and holding the home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release?
If not and you have Sync Music selected under the Music tab for your iPad sync preferences with iTunes, deselect Sync Music followed by a sync. This should remove all music from your iPad. Follow this by reselecting Sync Music making your selections below followed by another sync to re-transfer the music back to the iPad.

  • Music app crashing

Since updating my iPad Mini to iOS 7, the music app has exhibited the annoying issue of crashing every time I try to play two specific songs. They play for a second become cutting off and dumping me at the home screen.
The songs triggering the issues are Accept's Metal Heart and Midnight Mover, both purchased on iTunes, and with lyrics and sorting data added. I am at a loss as to the cause, but I suspect it is a bug. anyone else having this problem?

Try and close all apps in Multitask Screen.
    1. Double tap the home button to bring up the multi-tasking view
    2. Swipe up on the screenshot of the app you want to exit.
    3. The app will fly off the screen

  • IPad Music App in IOS 7 is such a crap, When you gonna update it ?

Guys Guys Guys, What happened to you ?
Since the ios7 1st update am Waiting for Music app to be updated. I liked iphone music app, and i thought i could get in my ipad also but sad !
since that day am waiting for music app update. In real words you guys f****d up the MUsic app. you should have make it better than iOS 6 but its such a crap i cant even think of opening it.
There are no any major Pros if you guys compare it with iOS 6 Music app and Cons are First of all App is not Good in Looks Second, there were no need to show album art in Songs List & Third, it could not show Now Playing screen when you tap on album art such as in Itunes desktop app.
Guys if you Cannot update the app then Please give us iOS 6 Music app back.

    Agreed!!
The new Music app in iOS7 is horrible. Reduced functionality and the functionality that is there doesn't make intuitive sense.
    My main issues/corrections:
    1) Give the user an option to display, or not display, the large album art beside the Artist listing. The large album art beside each Artist takes up too much room and conveys no useful information.
    2) Within each Artist allow the user to select a listing of the albums (as in iOS6). Scrolling through albums does not make sense. Allow the user to select from a list!
    3) Within each Artist allow the user to sort the albums alphabetically. Sort the albums by title NOT date! Why sorting albums by date?
    4) Within each Artist replace the selection to play all songs (as in iOS6). In iOS7 only option is to shuffle play the songs.
As it stands now in iOS7 the Music app has reduced functionality and is a horrible experience for the user.

  • Not All iTunes Music Showing up in iOS7 Music App

    Good Morning!
I am new to this forum and hope someone can help me resolve a frustrating problem.  I am a PC person (and was an Andriod person) who now uses a PC for my iTunes library but has two Apple TVs, a iPad mini and an iPhone 5S... I'm converting!
My problem is with iTunes and the "Music" app in iOS7.  I used to use Google Music when I had a Droid and all of my music did (and still does) automatically copy to Google when I add something to iTunes. I don't have to do a thing, all set up.
However, after buying my iPad mini and iPhone 5S I discovred the Music app does NOT have all of my iTunes library in it.  I use iCloud, I use iTunes Match (maybe my problem).  However, no matter what I do only about 1/3 of my iTunes music libary is available in the music app. I have thousands of songs. Perhaps a quarter were purchased on iTunes and the rest are CDs I ripped over time or purchased of MP3 files form Amazon, etc.
Of my perhaps 4,000 songs, I'm lucky if the Music app has 1,000.  If I have 4 albums by an artist, I may see two in the Music app, the other two remain only in iTunes. It doesn't seem to matter where I got the track from. Sure, I bet al the ones purchased from iTunes store are there (I don't keep a list of what was bought where) but there are also Amazon purchases, ripped files, Google Music purchases scattered in there too... it only is 1/4 of my library and frustrating.  I also have an album listed but only 1 or 2 songs are available in the Music app when the entire album is in iTunes.
I am smacking my head against the wall unsure of why in Earth iTunes is not loading my entire library so I can use it on all my iOS devices.  The devices are setup in iTunes.
I am, however, able to download a third party Google Music app on my iPad and iPhone and THERE I can see and listen to my entire library but just selections. That works great.
I WANT to use the iOS7 app to listen to all my iTunes music. I don't want to have to use a Google go around but I can't seem to solve the problem. I launch iTunes, it says it is running match and unless I bought a new track from iTunes, the rest of my library in the same place as the tracks it did sync remains ignored.
I know my library is large. Do I need to purchase addition space somewhere? If so, I am never prompted. Why it would sync one two tracks from am album that all came from the same source also baffles me.
Sorry this is long, I wanted to give as many details as I want.  I want all my music available under "Music"and to be able to ditch Google music but searching online gives few clues as to why only part of my library uploads to the Cloud.
    Any ideas?  Thanks!

    Heiko,
I had the same problem and noticed that the missing albums had been PhotoCast. Apparently these albums are not available for transfer to your iPod. When I Stopped Publishing the album, the problem was solved.
    I hope this helps, Jim
Not sure when exactly this happened but I guess with
    the installation of iTunes 6.04.
Some of the albums I've created in in iPhoto do not
show up in the iTunes iPod options.
I first noticed when trying to view photos on my iPod
that images that had been there before were no longer
    available.
Anybody else experiencing this? Any idea on how to
    fix this?
I've already tried to restore my iPod and delete the
iPod Cahe folder but that didn't help.
    Thanks,
    Heiko.

  • Podcasts won't sync to the podcast portion of the built in Music App on my iPod Touch.  How do I fix this?

Ever since I downloaded the new Apple Podcast App my Podcasts that I subscribe to in iTunes have not worked correctly.   I have deleted the Apple Podcast App because it does not work well and I'd rather have the functionality with Podcasts that the sync from iTunes to the built in Music App has.  However, now I can't get the podcasts I subscribe to to show up in the original app.  My iTunes says that all the podcasts are being synced and it is checked to sync them and even the data storage indicator bar at the bottom shows the amount of space being taken up as if the podcasts did sync but when I go into my iPod Touch in the music app they are not there.  How do I fix this?  Thanks!

What you're really doing is trying to create a new icloud account using an ID that is not currently associated with a user's account.  A device can only do this a fixed number of times (3 or 5, don't remember), after which you must use a different device or computer to create the account.

  • Music app scrambled

My music app has been getting scrambled after playing for 40 minutes or so. Music just stops mid-song, then songs start skipping around and playing a few seconds of each, when I press pause or close and reopen app, it continues to play random songs (just a few seconds) skipping around. Stopping the app doesn't work, songs start playing again suddenly and jumping around - without pushing play. Songs also speed up really fast while playing and what's being played doesn't match the song displayed. They also suddenly stop and start, while not pushing anything. After not using app for some time (check problem again next day) app plays fine, initially. This has occurred three times recently and I can't fix the problem once it starts acting funny, just have to stop listening to music. I don't want to lose my whole library of songs by resetting phone, is there a fix to keep library and playlists? Also, voice control seems to randomly initiate before or during the music app malfunction, without me touching phone.

    I'm having same problem.
First of all when downloading from cloud and deciding to delete some tracks I found I couldn't.
Did a wipe of all data in music app to clear all music (only had a small amount).
Downloaded only what I wanted this time, no problem.
But as many are saying album tracks are not in track order.
Reading the advice on here I tried the on/off thing.  This only rearranged the tracks for the album I was playing at switch off.
I then tried the reset all settings as I read on here.  This worked but (a) a bit of pain going through settings I'd changed cos I did change quite a few from original settings,  (b) I have two extra tracks downloaded now and I can' delete them.
Incredibly frustrating, not exactly a cheap machine and ordering stuff must surely be a basic operation for a computer in this day and age.  Probably a bug but needs fixing quick if public to keep the faith in high quality output from Apple, especially after Maps fiasco last year.
I am using an iPad third generation 16gb wi-fi only.  And I should point out that downloading the music to my iphone 5c 16gb (3G) via wi-fi, same houses, same account, etc, worked fine with all albums in order.
So maybe just an ipad thing?

  • IOS 8.2 music app crash

After updating to iOS 8.2 I noticed that my Music app has updated the auto-generated Genius mixes that I have available. There are now a lot more than the 9 or so that used to show up which is great but the problem is that the "new functionality" actually crashes the app every time you try to go past a certain number of playlists.
Keep in mind that the playlists are real and they are very much populated from my cloud library.
Anyway, what seemed to have fixed this (for now) is disabling iTunes Match and Genius in the settings of the app and then turning them back on. The iTunes Match setting forces the app cash to be dumped and then forces a sync with the Apple servers. Voila, I no longer have infinite number of mixes and the app does not crash. The Genius mixes are however slightly different now but I don't really care about that. They are auto generated ones anyway.
I'm not sure if this is a permanent fix or I just got lucky but has anyone else seen a similar problem and how did you fix it?

  • The Music app will not open after I upgraded my iPhone 4 to IOS 6.

This is a random occurance that started today.  I upgraded the phone when IOS6 came out - and the Music app has been giving me troubles since then (crashing; taking a couple of tries to open; etc.).  However, I have never had this much trouble getting it to open.  I have restarted the phone a number of times.  I have hard-closed the music app.  All to no avail.  It opens for a second, with a blank screen, then closes.

As I mentioned in my post, I did restart the phone a number of times, and this did not solve the problem.
Restart ≠ Reset.  Try the Reset.
Apart from a Reset and closing the app, without your computer, there's not much you can do.  I suspect there's a problem with your music database, which I think can only be solved with access to your computer.
