Music app in iPad defaults back to itunes radio

Why does the music app in iPad default back to itunes radio every time i open it? That's very annoying. Can the default behavior be changed?

I discovered a work around to the problem.
I made a backup copy of the app file from "Mobile Applications" and then deleted the app from within iTunes and told it to move the file to the trash can. I then selected "Transfer Purchases" and the app was transfered from the iPhone back to the "Mobile Applications" folder. The new app file's size is larger (+40MB) than the original one so it must contain the additional content. This seems like a serious bug in iTunes with in-app purchases but it's not clear what the root cause is. It could be a problem with all in-app purchases or only for apps that have been updated to now include in-app purchase when the prior versions did not. I wonder if anyone else has noticed this issue with in-app purchases.
Any suggestions on the best way to report this issue to Apple ?
Thanks,
E

    Hello Maggiemo53
I would restore the iPhone and put a previous back up that you had without his information on it. The steps for restoring and putting a back up back on are outline in the article below.

  • Music app on Ipad not playing off Itunes match

The music app for my Ipad2 worked perfectly playing songs off ICloud until today.  Suddenly, when I select a song to play, instead of downloading it runs through every song on the album without actually playing any music.  Any ideas what's wrong?

Reconnect your iPad to your Mac and after it syncs, do not disconnect.  Click once on the iPad on the left side of the screen.  Your iPad will open in iTunes.  Click on the Music tab and you can then either check sync all music, or you can check sync selected songs playlists.  Either choose sync all music, or if you choose to select the music, you scroll down and choose the artists, albums, playlists or genres you want to sync.  You'll see your memory go down as you choose what music you want.  Once you're done choosing the music, on the right hand bottom of your iTunes screen, click Apply, then Sync to create a current backup with your music on your iPad.  Then disconnect, open iPod on your iPad and your music will be there.

  • Music shows up in Music app on iPad, but not in iTunes library when iPad is connected.

I recently connected my iPad to iTunes, and all of my music stored on the iPad was showing up fine - I then deleted it all as I no longer wanted it on there. However, all my music still shows up on the iPad, and iTunes is even telling me that a certain amount of space is being taken up on the iPad by this music - but when I go to delete it in the 'On My iPad' tab, there is nothing listed. I have over 1,000 songs so there is no way I'm deleting them manually from the iPad. Please help with this very frustrating problem! I just want to be able to get rid of this music from the iPad.

Sounds like there may be issues with your iPod's hard drive. Perhaps it would be worth it to run a disk diagnostic on the iPod's HD to make sure it is still in a healthy condition.

  • Downloaded audio not visible in Music app on iPad 2?

    Hello,
Has anyone had this issue reported from students using iPads to access iTunes U material? If so, what did you do about it?
A student reported not being able to find downloaded lecture audio files from our private iTunes U site. When he goes to find he files in the Music app, only one is there under the iTunes U section from a whole course.
I am able to replicate the issue on my iPad 2 running iOS 5.0.1. You can find the files on the iPad via a Spotlight search.
If I use iTunes on my PC or Mac to download the same files, they are all visiible in my iTunes U library so I don't think it's our iTunes U a setup but the Music app on the iPad not having the library database set correctly after the audio is downloaded.
I did an extraction of the UbiquitousMetadata.sqlitedb from my iPad to see what the data looked like.
The value of a key field for a file the is visible in the Music app looks like:
    PHAR 709 - Audio-Shenandoah University-24 Skin Cancers and UV Protection (2010)
Some values for the key field that can not be reached via the iTune U section in the Music app are:
    -Shenandoah University-03 Anemia II
    -Shenandoah University-02 Anemias I
-Shenandoah University-01 Review of Normal Gastrointestinal Anatomy & Physiology
I don't know enough about the interals of the Music app database but it looked like the keys aren't formed quite right (i.e. missing the course # in the key) and that could cause the files to not show up in the Music app. Not sure if the iTunes app sets those ot the Music app.
    thanks for any feedback,
    ~Leigh

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

  • Is there a way to increase the font size for the "songs" and "artists" lists in the new music app for iPad 2 (iOS 5)? It is too small for me.

is there really no fix for this?
It would depend on your definition of "Fix"
Your iPod touch running OS 4.2 has a ZOOM feature which will enable you to see the screen more clearly.
To turn Zoom on or off got to:
Settings > General > Accessibility > Zoom and tap the Zoom On/Off switch.
    _To Zoom in or out_:
Double-tap the screen with three fingers. By default, the screen is magnified 200 percent. If you manually change the magnification (by using the tap-and-drag gesture, described below), iPod touch automatically returns to that magnification when you zoom in by double-tapping with three fingers.
Increase magnification: With three fingers, tap and drag toward the top of the screen (to increase magnification) or toward the bottom of the screen (to decrease magnification). The tap-and-drag gesture is similar to a double-tap, except you don’t lift your fingers on the second tap—instead, drag your fingers on the screen. Once you start dragging, you can drag with a single finger.
    _Move around the screen_:
When zoomed in, drag or flick the screen with three fingers. Once you start dragging, you can drag with a single finger so that you can see more of the screen. Hold a single finger near the edge of the display to pan to that side of the screen image. Move your finger closer to the edge to pan more quickly. When you open a new screen, Zoom always goes to the top-middle of the screen.
    _Large Text_:
Large Text lets you make the text larger in alerts, and in Calendar, Contacts, Mail, Messages, and Notes. You can choose 20-point, 24-point, 32-point, 40-point, 48-point, or 56-point text.
Set the text size: In Settings, choose General > Accessibility, tap Large Text, then tap the text size you want.
I hope this has helped a little - other than this option I think it pretty much is what it is.
BTW - This information can be found on page 208 of the iPod Touch iOS 4.2 Users Guide.
    Best wishes..
    Ricky

  • How do I transfer music from my iPad 2 to my iTunes library on my computer?

I have tried to transfer music from my iPad 2 to my iTunes library, however a pop-up occurs saying that I cannont transfer some of the purchased items because I am not authorized for them on this computer.  How do I transfer the songs to my iTunes library?  (I have authorized this computer too.)

Try using a third-party utility such as iExplorer - iPhone, iPad Music & File Transfer App for Mac & PC.

  • How do I play my iTunes music on my iPad using WiFi and iTunes match (my music is stored in the cloud).

How do i play my iTunes music on my iPad using WiFi and iTunes match? I don't want to download my music to my iPad.

But that's what I don't want to do. I think I must have misunderstood what was possible with iTunes Match and the cloud. I had thought I would be able to play my music directly from the cloud using WiFi. I didn't think I would have to download it from the cloud to play it on my iPad. I store it in the cloud because I don't have enough storage space on my iPad -- I can't download all my music because I run out of storage space. If iTunes Match doesn't allow you to play the music FROM THE CLOUD, but instead only allows you to DOWNLOAD IT FROM THE CLOUD TO YOUR IPAD TO PLAY, then it's not serving the purpose I thought it would. What's the point of storing it in the cloud if you have to download it to play it?
The only way I could imagine it working for me is if it possible to only download particular albums or songs. Or does your whole library have to be downloaded?

What music app is the best replacement for iTunes 11 on OS X?  Must be able to open multiple playlists.

First step before doing anything with OD is to make certain that local DNS services are correct.  To verify that, launch Terminal.app from Applications > Utilities on the test server, and issue the following harmless, diagnostic command:
    sudo changeip -checkhostname
You'll need to enter your administrative password for the sudo to be accepted.
If the output from that command reports no changes are required, then an export from the original OD and an import into the test system would be typical for testing, if you trust what's in the original OD.

  • If I clear music in my music app will it clear off my itunes account?

If I clear music in my music app will it clear off my itunes account? I have Christmas music in my iTunes accont and it's all unchecked now so it won't play; however it's still showing up on my Music app on my iphone in my music folder.  If I "clear" it will it delete from my iTunes account?  Thanks

It uses your iTunes credit first, if you don't have enough credit on your account the rest is billed to your credit card. If you do not have a credit card on file and you do not have enough credit on your account you will not be able to complete purchase.

  • Tell me they are rolling back music.app on iPad to iPod.app in next update? This is unusable.

Does anyone know anything regarding fixing or rolling back music.app to ipod.app?

No column view, have to suffer the album art everywhere, harder to switch back and forth and find what I want. What else, lost my lyrics and meta info, podcasts can't be fast forwarded x2, cant view chapters easily in podcasts, can't easily shuffle an album, harder to set repeat, shuffle, etc on the playing song without going to another screen, genres are now a button click further away, overlays suck, performance is slower, etc, etc. haven't gained anything really, but definitely lack of column list view navigation is HUGE. How did this pass UX useability testing is beyond me. Not only is this not an improvement, it's a huge step back.

  • Music App on iPad Only Showing SOME Songs...

...yet ALL songs appear to be ON THE IPAD when viewed in iTunes on my MacBook with the iPad connected to my MacBook
So here's my issue and Googling for days has only produced a bunch of theories and random guesses at a solution but no real solution.  Here we go:  With my iPad 2 (ver. 5.1.1) connected to my MacBook, I drag a handful of MP3s (audiobook tracks) onto my iPad.  Using iTunes on my MacBook, I create some Playlists on the iPAd for these new tracks.
Then, I press the Sync button in iTunes to ensure that what I have just done on the iPad in iTunes on my MacBook actually syncronizes with the iPad.  Everything looks good.  With the iPad still connected, in iTunes I can see the handful of new tracks I just dragged over onto the iPad and they actually appear in the correct Smart Playlist I made.
    However...
When I disconnect the iPad from the MacBook, then open up the Music app on the iPad, I cannot see my new MP3 tracks anywhre on the iPad and the new Playlist is empty.
Now, keep in mind that SOME tracks transfer and are visible in Music.  However, it is not 100% consistent and it fails more often than it is successful.
I have tried deleting the tracks and the Playlists from the iPad entirely then dragging them back onto the iPad (via iTunes) and while the tracks actually show that they are in fact on my iPad (via MacBook iTunes) while the iPad is connected to my MacBook, when I disconnect the iPad from MacBook/iTunes, I am unable to find the tracks on my iPad via the Music app.  They don't show up in Music, Audiobooks.  They don't even show up by author or genre.  It's as if they aren't even on my iPad.  Yet, when I reconnect the iPad back to the MacBook and view the contents via the iTunes on my MacBook, viola!  There they are on my iPad.
I have successfully used this method to add MP3s to my iPad and occasionally, the tracks actually do show up in my Music app on the iPad.  However, success is intermitent and uncertain...and rare.
I am NOT using iTunes Match so that option is turned OFF in my iPad Settings.  I have tried turning it on to see if it would make a difference and I onl get a dialog box that tells me that I'm not subscribed to iTunes Match.
I have updated my iPad IOS to the latest.   Have powered off completely then powered back on.
    Still....nothing works.
Thanks so much for your input.  I'm perplexed beyond belief by this random and frustrating issue.
C'mon gurus and expert users.  What do you recommend?

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.
