Music cutoffs?

I just bought KB's new Weight and Glory and I was trying to find out why the second song wasn't playing correctly, it plays until 53 seconds into it and just goes to the next song in the album. At first I thought it was just a problem with the iTunes player. After burning it to an audio disc the problem still remained. My only conclusion is that something went wrong with the automatic download. I still haven't resolved this and would like to listen to the music that I paid for. iTunes just lost a few more points from me.

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copy of the track and try redownloading a fresh one. See the following document for instructions:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

  • Myriad iTunes sync issues - song cutoffs - artwork problems - yeech!

    Hi all,
I’m running the latest version of iTunes on a (late 2013) Macbook Pro Retina laptop, and having several different flavors of syncing issues with my two devices –  a 16 gb iPhone 4S running iOS 7.1, and a 32 gb iPod Touch 3rd Gen running iOS 5.1.1.
As best I can tell, some syncing issues such as one of the ones I am experiencing (songs chopped-off when transferred and attempted to playback from the device) have existed in some way, shape or form for nearly 10 years now, so I’m not expecting any grand revelations here - but just looking for some honest advice on how to resolve in the shortest amount of time & with the least pain considering I have a fairly large music library in terms of syncing time required.  That being said, below bulleted-out are my current issues / frustrations / thoughts on where the problems may lie.   I would appreciate any advice:
Purchased iTunes songs (ripped MP3’s from CD’s that I own and tracks from other sources do not seem to have the problem…) play fine in iTunes on my laptop, but when transferred to either my iPhone or iPod, they will randomly (it’s not every track) be cutoff near the end of the song.  Sometimes the song will stop with 2 minutes remaining and go silent. Sometimes it will stop with 15 seconds remaining and go silent.  Sometimes it will stop somewhere in that time range and start the next track on the album while still displaying the info from the previous track.  The only solution I have found to this for purchased content thus far is to wipe everything out, and go back and download the tracks from the cloud.  I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 1000 tracks that fall into this category, so my options to download directly to the device an artist at a time are kind of time-consuming and cumbersome.  Would this have something to do with the file format of purchased tracks vs. ripped ones? I have a lot of older ripped material that was imported as MP3’s or MP3’s converted to M4A’s that never seems to have this problem.  The newer purchased files are mostly ACC’s which DO have the problem.   Also would this have anything to do with the fact that my library (including most of the purchased content) was recently moved over and imported to a new Macbook from a Windows backup?  Most of my iTunes library was Windows / PC for the majority of its existence for the past decade or so; we only recently switched back to Mac.
Discrepancies between deleting material on a device vs. what iTunes recognizes when it is plugged back in:  The other day, being frustrated with the random song chopping, I deleted everything on my iPod Touch 3rd Gen by going into Settings, Options, General, and “Usage” and then “Edit” and selecting to wipe out everything in iTunes. The device appeared to do this, and I was showing 28 gb or so free out of 32 once it completed.  Great, right?  I proceeded the rest of that day to painstakingly download approx. 900 tracks from the cloud onto the device, hoping to correct the chopping issue.  It did this, and I still had roughly 10 gb free. Great, right?  Later that night when I plugged the iPod into my Macbook with the 30 pin to sync, iTunes on the laptop for some reason still recognized the songs which I thought I had deleted hours earlier and showed me multiple copies of everything.  For the ones that had been deleted, when I clicked to play them on the iPod through iTunes, I got the little gray exclamation point - ! – in a circle like when a track has moved libraries and cannot be found.  iTunes then told me my sync could not be completed due to being over capacity on the device by a ridiculous 12 gb or something like that. Huh?? I could have gone through and manually deleted the (by that point more than 1000) duplicate tracks and synced to have made room I suppose – but after accidentally hitting Autofill – iTunes threw up its hands and would not let me do anything further.  Any attempts at that point to delete either pending Autofill tracks or missing duplicate tracks just led to endless spinning on the “Preparing Update” notice on the device which led to me having to kill iTunes.  Can you say big-time frustration?  I eventually opted to restore the iPod to factory (iOS 5.1.1) settings and start over.  That device is currently at home slogging through the process of attempting to re-download 400 some songs from the cloud over wi-fi so that I can avoid the cutoff track problem.  The plan after that is to sync playlists for certain artists over top of the purchased tracks so that my ripped tracks can merge with them to round out the playlist. Do you see how this is beginning to become a marathon?
Last but not least - it seems to be just since the last few iTunes upgrades for Mac, but I’m having a huge problem suddenly with album artwork staying synced properly. After one recent manual transfer session (30 pin between the iPhone and the Macbook) roughly half of the tracks I transferred had mismatched artwork.  Doing this through the cloud (downloading tracks “Not on this iPhone” via the iTunes app) doesn’t seem to have the same problem, but of course this takes longer. Also, what is the deal with “Show All Music” in iOS 7 and playing tracks from the cloud?  This is a really cool feature that allows you to save a ton of disk space on your device, but I have found that when I do this that many tracks have mismatched artwork.  For example right now I’m listening to a Grateful Dead song that is displaying Genesis artwork.  Huh?? Artwork is less of a big deal than the track lengths being chopped off, but it’s still annoying.
iTunes revolutionized the music industry and on the whole has been fantastic.  But it seems as if lately, little irritating problems like the syncing issues are becoming more and not less prevalent, and the problem is they aren't being dealt with.  I got my first Mac in college nearly 20 years ago now, and have been generally entrhalled with Apple products ever since.  But I have to say that this kind of junk lately is more what I would expect in the vein of problems from the shoddy-PC world that seem to linger and never get fixed.  Cupertino folks - what's the deal???

You're not the only one judging by the forums!
Likewise I have been using Apples since the Apple IIe(!) and have found them great in every respect. iTunes however over the past couple of years has deteriorated to th point of being unuseable. Apple has made iTunes the hub of your digital life and so it really has to work seemlessly.
I currently have had to completely wipe and re-install my 64Gb iPhone 4s several times to get my music back on to it. I cannot het any playlists to sync which is really annoying and it generally undermines my faith in Apples software quality.
Please put whatever resources are necessary to fix this soon Apple or you will certainly start to haemorrhage customers to other platforms. After all if iTunes remains broken then what's the point of paying the extra for Apple qulaity? You may as well uplaod ebverything to Google play and be done with it!

  • My Music Sounds Distorted Upon DVD Playback

Anytime I create a movie and burn it in iDVD, I have to drop the movie in as a slideshow in order to keep the aspect ration and not have portions of my picture and text cutoff on the tv. The problem however is that when I play my movie the music is always very distorted, as if it was recorded at too high a volume.
In the slideshow option I have moved the volume all the way down to (min) but still find I get a distorted playback sound. Can anyone offer up suggestions?

Figured I'd bump this back up and hope for suggestions. Really dont want to have to go back to PC for this stuff. Ugh!

Try this. Make your first slide a movie or short video clip. If you do not wish to add a movie in this particular spot then drop in plain black video footage at the very start of the sildeshow for at least 3 seconds. Come on back if this fails to resolve the issue and I will post additional suggestions in terms of making your slideshow within iPhoto > iDvd ... or ... iMovie > iDvd.

  • Issues with the Music Player

I have noticed some real inconsistencies in the Music Player.  Some times it remember my exact place on a track when I close the app and re-open it and sometime it doesn't.  Also when fast forwarding to get back to the place I left off in the audio the counter is off.  If I hold the forward button for a few seconds and let go the counter has advances a minute or two but the audio is still at my starting point.  This results in the audio being cutoff at the end.  The player hits the end point on the time scale but there's still more audio.
Also it is frustrating that the audio controls bounce around when turning the unit back on and you have some alert messages.  They slowly go away but if you tap the screen you may be tapping on another audio track or the forward/reverse button, etc.

That's not a function of the phone, it's a function of the dock.

  • Using music player in a car

    hi all
new user problem! I've just acquired a 5800 express music and so far so good. maps works ok now and i have only one blocker to a 100% good experience.
when using the phone as a music player in a car via line-out, with the phone connected to the radio via bluetooth at the same time, i lose the ability to use the car microphone for calls. I haven't found how tobluetooth music player; wired connection seems too be the way.
it seems that i lose the speaker connection as well; incoming calls cut the music off - ok, fair enough - but i do not then have ability to hear or speak to the caller.
when connecting the lineout cable i get the message 'use phone microphone' so i believe this is intended behaviour from the phone.
what i want to be able to do is either lineout or bluetooth music player to the car and then be able to make and receive calls using handsfree. it doesn't seem much to ask.
the car is 09my ford kuga. music player lineout cutoff to bluetooth worked fine with the last phone - sony ericsson 810 - so it's definitely a setup issue on the new phone.
bluetooth handsfree calls work ok with music player not running.
please advise me; what am i doing wrong/incorrectly/in ignorance? i'm obviously not seeing the setting to choose; it can't be true that 5800xm does not bluetooth music and won't cut off to bluetooth from an incoming call, surely...? it can't be intended that i have to unplug athe lineout connection, wait for all that to realign itself and go to hand operation while I'm driving, surely...
your advice is more than welcome!
    regards
    im

    Thanks for the replies!
I only normalise when the volume is quiet, like when i rip audio from a video as usually videos are not very loud, ripping from a cd is normally ok so i dont normalise them unless i need to.
My stereo does have volume offset for each source but it only allows you to decrease the volume and not up it.
Sadly i dont have a usb input on my stereo, its the only thing it doesnt have!! And im not going to buy a new stereo as i have a £2000 limited anniversary edition Kenwood screen which is still better than most systems these days even though its from 2005.
I found a Fiio headphone amp on ebay but im not sure it will work without buying and trying it, might give it a go as its only £20.
For the moment what ive done is to crank up the gain on my external amplifiers in the boot which gives me enough volume when using the phone, then i used the volume offset to decrease the volume from all other sources so everything is about the same level.
After a bit of reasearch it seems that you are right about most aux inputs on car stereos being a bit quiet compared to usb or cd or radio, i dont know why this is, it seems silly to me that they do it like this but nevermind.
My Technics amp at home is totally different, it has a loud aux input so it seems not all stereos are the same........

  • How do I find, at-a-glance, the sample size used in several music files?

How do I find, at-a-glance, the sample size used in several music files?
Of all the fields available in a FInder Search, "Sample Size" is not available. Finder does offer a "Bits per Sample" field, but it only recognized graphic files and not music files.
Running 10.8.5 on an iMac i5.
I did search through a couple of communities but came up empty.
    Thank you,
    Craig

    C-squared,
There is no View Option to allow display of a column of sample size.
For WAV or Apple Lossless files, it is available on the Summary tab (one song at a time, as you know).  For MP3 and AAC it is not available at all.
You can roughly infer it from the files that are larger than expected for their time.
99% of the music we use is at the CD standard of 16-bit, so I can guess that displaying it has never been a priority.  However, if you want to make a suggestion to Apple, use this link:

  • IPod no longer showing any music.. help?

I was listening to some music on my iPod through my PC and I was using Winamp (I've used before and no problems) and when I unplugged my iPod all of my music had disappeared.
The photos are still on there and the mp3 files seem to still be there - I just can't access them when they are not plugged into the computer. Literally all playlists, artists, albums and songs have disappeared.
I have tried downloading programs to extract the music from my iPod and then start over as my music isn't in iTunes (it is a new PC), but it comes up with an error message that the iPod Control file is corrupt..?
Has this happened to anyone else? Any suggestions on fixing it?

  • I moved iTunes music to my hard drive "D" and now it won't open!

My hard drive "C" was getting somewhat full, so I decided to move my iTunes music files over to my second hard drive "D" (I have a dual hard drive on my computer). When I try and open iTunes, it says, "The folder 'iTunes' cannot be found or created, and is required. The default location for this folder is inside the 'Music' folder."
I cannot open the "Music" folder, because when I do, it just opens up the same window I was already in when I tried to open it. The main reason I want to open iTunes is so I can reset my iPod because it is not working anymore. The scroll wheel, the hold button, the backlight, and it automatically sleep mode (after not touching it for a couple of minutes) is all that works. I cannot click anything.
I have moved all of my iTunes folders back over to my "C" drive, but it still won't work. I also reinstalled iTunes in the "Music" folder, and it won't work. Basically nothing has worked!

  • How do i share media (music and videos) between all of my devices?

i currently have (and attempt to use as much as possible) the following devices:  macbook pro 15", ipad 4, iphone 6 plus 64 GB, and appletv 2.
i would love it if these devices would talk to each other correctly.  first came the macbook, and i took an internal 2 tb drive cannibalized from my previous pc and transformed it into an external.  that drive is desinated as my media drive, it includes all of my video and music.  the macbook and the appletv talk to each other flawlessly.  every music and video file on that drive is accesible to me using apple tv.
next up is the ipad, which includes some of my videos (movies), but no tv shows.  music also does not show up, only options to buy from the store.  but i already have a music library that includes many songs downloaded from the store that dont show up, only some stupid U2 album that i never downloaded.
finally, we get to the iphone, which i just got.  i get no shared music or videos here at all.
by the way, all settings are set to share with each device in settings and itunes.  each device talks to one another.  i know this because there is some level of sharing on each device (ie ipad gets videos, iphone shares spreadsheets and other productivity files.  appletv shares everything.  i now want to sync these devices so that they can share the same data while on the same home network.  i should be able to do this, right?
also, i know that i can airdrop/transfer but thats not really what im looking to do atm.
    thanks

im more than a little disappointed here.  can anyone recommend another forum please?

  • Music downloads to the wrong folder

    Hi.
I'm running Mountain Lion on my MacBook Pro and understand that music, movies, TV shows, etc., should download to their respective folders within the 'iTunes Media" folder, which is located here: User --> Music --> iTunes --> iTunes Media.
My problem is that, while movies, TV shows, mobile apps and ringtones download properly, music that I either download from the iTunes Store or rip from CDs download directly into the iTunes Media folder, rather than the iTunes Media --> Music folder.  Also, there is now a new "Compilations" folder in the iTunes Media folder (in addition to the one listed alphabetically in the iTunes Media --> Music folder).
I'd appreciate any ideas about how to resolve this so my music downloads to the proper locations and remains organized.  Thanks for your help.
    Shelly

    Hi,
Was there ever a resolution to this issue, I'm experiencing the same problem?
I'm an iTunes Match user, and when I...
    - Rip a CD
    - Run iTunes Match
    - Delete the imported CD tracks
    - Download the tracks from iTunes
Sometimes they download to the correct album folder in 'Music' however other times they download to the 'Media' folder - it can even be the case that some download to 'Music' and others to 'Media' for the same album.
Seems to have only started recently
    Any ideas?
    Regards

  • IPhone 5s Voice memo to mp3. Now music on iPhone. Won't play from search function.

I record my band rehearsals using the voice memo on my iPhone 5s. Then I sync to iTunes and convert file to mp3. When i sync back to my iPhone it appears in my music. So far, so good. When I use the search function in music it finds the file but won't play from tapping. I must troll through all my music songs (currently 2227 of them) to find it and then play it. Is it something to do with it still being under the genre "voice memos" or what ?  Anybody help please.  Thanks

How do i use my Platronix bluetooth with iPhone4 to listen to music.
Its a mono bluetooth paired with the phone.
I dont want to buy a new stereo headset but can i use this same one.

One way is to sync the contacts from the old iPhone to iCloud. Then when you turn on the new phone and set it up for iCloud and turn on the Contacts in Settings >iCloud, they will come to the new phone. http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/

  • ITunes/Music Home sharing does not work on my iPad Air

No matter what I do I cannot use Music.app on my iPad Air to play music from my iTunes Library with Home-Sharing switched on. The Library name correctly appears in the Music.app source list after the loading symbol takes an age to complete. When it appears to have connected to the Library on my Mac, contents of my Library are shown in the app but I cannot play anything. If I select an albumn and press Play the Music.app merely cycles rapidly through all the track titles of the Album and then stops. Nothing plays. I've tried dozens of times to get this to work, even rebuilding my iTunes Library. Nothing seems to cure the problem. I can connect and play via Plex which is just plain daft seeing Apple designed all the software/hardware but they, themselves, cannot correctly code for this basic functionality.
Also, not all Album cover artwork is displayed correctly.
It seems many of the things I bought the iPad for are non-functional and the tablet is virtually useless. I can't beleive Apple would produce software and hardware which is specifically made to work harmoniously but obviously doesn't.
    Any help, here, please?
I'm also having problems with Bluetooth connecting to my Mac Pro (2008)... Namly, it will not.

CD's purchased from iTunes but uploaded to iTunes do not show up in the music folder on my Apple TV!  How do I fix this?

You would need to make sure you're accessing the Computers icon. If you are under the Music icon, that will be accessing the cloud and only show iTunes purchases (unless you subscribe to iTunes Match)
