Music From iPhoto

How does the "From iPhoto" music setting in the photo settings work? If you add an album, which has no music set for it, how does the iPod know which song to play for the photos? I can't get that setting to work, and I can't find a way to put the iPhoto slideshows on the iPod, only the albums. Can anyone help me make the music from the slideshows on iPhoto work with the albums on my iPod?

I figured it out myself

  • Slideshow music from iPhoto

I just got a 60G iPod Photo and it's great but when I select Slideshow Settings>Music>From iPhoto I get silence from the iPod when I play a slideshow. It works fine if I select anything other than "From iPhoto". I have made sure the song is on the computer and the iPod and it is selected in iPhoto. I am running 10.3.9, iPhoto 5.0.2 and iTunes 4.7.1.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

David- I feel your pain, but the function seems to be nothing but nonsense:
The only way to add music to pictures in iPhoto is by creating slideshows (I have not found a way to add music to albums - have you?).
The only thing you can synch to iPod is albums, not slideshows.
    Go figure.
The menu item "Music - from iPhoto" just does not make sense.

  • How can you take a video including music from IPhoto and put it onto a disk?

How can you take a video including music from IPhoto and put it onto a disk?

You need burn software which will author/encode the movie so it can be viewed using any DVD player - there is iDVD (still available as part of the retail 09 or 11 iLife disks at online resellers including ebay and Amazon) or Roxio Toast ($$) or Burn (free, but very basic).

  • Problems exporting slideshow with music from iPhoto 5 to iDVD

I made a slideshow on iPhoto, and selected one Playlist with 4 tracks as backgroundmusic. When I ¨play¨the slideshow in ¨iPhoto¨ I can listen the music ( all 4 tracks), but when I ¨export¨ the slideshow or ¨send to iDVD¨, the final Quicktime movie contains all the fotos but only the first track of the Playlist.
    I use Quicktime 7.1.3, iPhoto 5.0.4 and iTunes 7.0.2
Can somebody help me to find a solution...:)...? thanks...
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

this was a known problem with iPhoto 5. do you have the latest update to iPhoto 5?
Only one song exporting with Slideshows
With iPhoto 5 this seems to be a know problem/bug. There have been some work-arounds. Don't know if the problem is with iPhoto, Quicktime or a combo of both.
-From Bob Worthington: re-ripping the cuts I wanted as background music for the DVD as a single cut in iTunes. I then made a playlist containing the one extended cut of music.
-Old Toad: share to Quicktime from iPhoto and then import the resulting movie into iMovie you can extract and delete the audio from the video and add the two songs to the video and save.
Quicktime Pro-open the movie and bring up the Movie Properties menu window. In the top window select the audio track and delete it.
If you want more than one song you'll have to join them together with iMovie or some other application. Then open that joined file with QT Player. Then do a select all and copy. Now go to the QT window of the movie and select the Edit->Add to Movie menu option. You don't want to scale it because it will change the play speed of the audio unless it's time is exactly the same as the movie.
You could go the other way, open the movie, select all and copy, and then past with scaling to the audio. That will change the speed of the movie and transitions to fit the audio track. In this case the resulting video file will have the name of the audio track file that you started with.
You may have to play with it a bit to get exactly what you want. Be sure to work with copies of all the media files for the project.
-Peter Burtwistle: I opened the Qt movie that iPhoto makes when you export to iDVD and removed the sound track.
Then made a new soundtrack by opening all three songs in QT, then cutting and pasting them together.
Finally use QT Pro's 'Add to Movie" option to add the soundtrack to the original movie.
This worked well and was fast to do too.
-Joe Lombardo: I ended up having to extend the songs by 20 seconds so I brought them all into GarageBand and made some edits. Then I exported them all to iTunes as a single track and used that for the slideshow
From scotty321 at MacOSXHints.com: If you have Roxio Toast Titanium installed on your machine, you can join unprotected tracks yourself by simulating a disc burn. Simply take these steps:
Go to the Audio tab in Toast.
Drag your audio files from iTunes into Toast.
Reshuffle them in the proper order within Toast.
Go up to File: Save As Disc Image. Save your disc image somewhere on your Desktop.
Choose Utilities: Mount Disc Image. The CD will mount on your desktop, and iTunes will think that you just inserted a CD.
Within iTunes, select the tracks that you want to join and then use Advanced: Join CD Tracks.
Go through the import process, and you've got a joined track! Simply rename the track to whatever you want to call it, and you're good to go.
    From Lori...
    Burn the playlist in iTunes.
Make sure you have itunes Prefs just open the Cd and not automatically play or import the songs.
Insert the burned CD and iTunes will open.
Within iTunes, select the tracks that you want to join and then use Advanced: Join CD Tracks.
Go to Advanced>convert selection to AAC.
When done, make a new playlist named after the slideshow.
Put the new combined track into the playlist.
In iPhoto, select this playlist for your slideshow.

  • Exporting Music from iPhoto and iTunes to DVD copy

    Hello,
I am having trouble when exporting a slide show from iPhoto with the background music not playing. It was music purchased from iTunes. I played it before adding it and have not burned a copy to disk before this. What is wrong? Any help is appreciated.
    thanks,
    la

Is there a way to copy the music files themselves from my iPod or iTunes to a backup hard drive or USB flash device? I don't mean just the playlists, but the actual MP3 files that are listed on my playlists.

  • Can I use theme music from iPhoto '09 slideshows in iMovie '09?

The Music and Sound Effects browser in iMovie'09 allows me to access sound effects files from iLife and iMovie, as well as music and podcasts from GarageBand and iTunes, but not any of the "Theme Music" available for use with iPhoto slideshows (such as "Linus and Lucy"). Is this possible? If so, how?

The one I'm looking for is Randy Newman's "You've Got a Friend in Me". The iLife "Jingles" are all instrumental.

  • Music from iPhoto slideshow not making it to iDVD

Hi - newbie at iDVD - got a nice slideshow on iPhoto - music, Ken Burns effect,....nice!
Exported to iDVD, one song burns to disc, others don't. All from same source. Am I doing something wrong??

    Welcome to the forums.
This version of iDVD can choke on some music files. I assume you're using an iTunes album to collect all your songs for iPhoto. A workaround for your problem is to export your playlist from iTunes to CD and then import back into iTunes, but use the Advanced menu to Join CD Tracks so the songs come back as a single file.

  • How do I export a slideshow with music from iphoto to facebook?

I have a Bloggie camer/video recorder and I took some pictures and video of an outing I had with some friends. I'd like to share the iphoto slideshow on facebook with my friends in the slideshow format that includes the default music of choice. Any suggestions? I am using a macbook pro.

    I have the same question!!

  • No music on slideshow imported from iPhoto

    Hi,
I posted the following question in the iPod discussion area and no one responded, so figure I'd give it a try here. I was able to import a slideshow from iPhoto 5.0.4 to a 20GB iPod Color. The slideshow works just fine, but am not getting the music I heard when watching the slideshow on my Mac. BTW, I did go under Settings on the iPod and select music->From iPhoto. Not sure if it makes a difference, but the music on my slideshow is the iPhoto default (Bach "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desire"). Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ron

    Hi,
Try turning the music off in the slideshow (Select: Music icon in bottom right of window, unselect play music during slideshow).
    Export the slideshow again (sorry)
Add your play list for the slide show to your ipod.
Add new slide show to your ipod
On ipod go to: Photos:Slideshow settings: Music: select your playlist from the list.
The music should play when you statr your slideshow.
    Hope this helps!

  • Updated iPhoto could no longer use the music from iTunes library for slideshow

Anybody checked if you can still use your music from iTunes library for slideshows?
After updating both iPhoto and iTunes to the latest version in Mavericks, all music links in the iPhoto's slideshows became invalid. Tried even to re-establish the music links, but it seems like the iPhoto would not play any music from the iTunes library. Only the sample music from iPhoto is usable. The iTunes works fine by the way.
    Thanks a lot!

I think I found a workaround that seemed to correct the problem. In iTunes, go to the File menu and choose Library. Then select Organize Library. Next choose Reorganize files in the folder "iTunes Media".  Click OK.

  • Slideshow from iPhoto too big?

    Hi,
    A simple question:
I was doing my DVD, and wanted to add a few iPhoto pictures as slide show. So I builted the album from iPhoto and share to iDVD. The result was that in was too large for the DVD content (which was at that time 2.4 gig, with the slide show it becomes 4.1).
Doing the slide show from iDVD and adding the same pictures (plus the DVD ROM content) took about 0.2 gig.
What's the difference between the 2 ways that make such a diffirence in space?

I remember doing this in the iLife 04 suite, and
iPhoto was doing a slideshow, not a movie.
Also, I took the picture directly from an album, not
an iPhoto slideshow with transition, so I don't see
why it should convert that into a movie...
When you export a slideshow with transitions and music from iPhoto you are creating a MOVIE! I don't know how else to say it.
I suggest you purchase Jim Heid's excellent iLife '05 book. See: http://www.macilife.com/

  • How do I load photos & Music to my iPhone 3G from iPhoto /iTunes?

How do I load photos & Music to my iPhone 3G from iPhoto /iTunes?
If I want to use photos as wallpaper on the phone do they have to be resized or can I just load them?

With your iphone plugged into itunes go to the tables for music, photos, etc and set to sync with the album, playlist you want.
Sounds like you might need to read the owners manual:

  • When I listen to music on Apple TV 2 my pictures from iPhoto come in, but always the same album (which I nevr asked for), always in random order and always in a different format. How can I control what is going on and choose the album myself.

When I listen to music on Apple TV 2 my pictures from iPhoto come in aafter about ten minutes, but always the same album (which I never asked for), always in random order and always in a different format. How can I choose a different album myself and control the order and format?

Thank you Winston for a helpful response and for reminding me of something which I found nearly a year ago and then lost (in my mind) because I did not use it. I am grateful for a correct answer but it still only achieves part of what I wanted.
I can now choose my photos, decide how long they stay on screen and choose one of a variety of presentations. Two things I still can't do.
One is to get it to play the photos in the chronological order in which I have carefully set them in an album; it still tends to be random and repetitive. The other is that I cannot get any of them them to saty on screen for more than about 20 seconds. I guess this is all due to the way Apple TV is constructed.
    But still thanks, nevertheless.

  • Iphoto '11 slideshow does not play music from iTunes

I cannot get iPhoto Slideshow to play music from iTunes.  I read one suggestion to go to iTunes > File > Library > Organize Library > and select REORGANIZE library.  When I do this it does not allow me to REORGANIZE, I can only CONSOLIDATE.
Any suggestions on what I can do?

When I do this it does not allow me to REORGANIZE, I can only CONSOLIDATE.
Then your iTunes library is already organized according to the latest format. See this document on the organisation of the iTunes Library :
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3847
Sometimes the database files inside your iTunes Library can get corrupted.
Try to rebuild the file "iTunes Music Library.xml" as described  here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA25468
I'm not sure if "Consolidate" can help in this situation - it will move all songs into your iTunes Library, so that they can be easier found, but not recreate the datbase files.
