Music/Video stops working until restart

Lately I've been having a problem on my iPhone 4S recently where sometimes I can't' start playing music or movies (even ones taken on the camera). If I tap play nothing happens. Sometimes sound playback of any kind won't work. I have to restart the phone to fix this. This also sometimes affects Siri since she can't see my music library.
I started seeing this in iOS 6. Any ideas what's going on (bad app maybe)?

That has nothing to do with it. I have problems playing videos I took with the camera when this happens. Basically the entire audio playback functionality of the phone stops working.

All Music & Videos stop working on Macbook Pro

I've had my 15" Macbook Pro for 6 months now. If my Macbook has been on for a while, at some point all media randomly stops working; when Quicktime tries to open a file it opens it partially and freezes at the "loading movie" sign. If iTunes is already open before this problem occurs, it will work fine, but if I close iTunes & try to open it again it will crash and I'll have to force quit it. Videos and music in web browsers such as Firefox and Safari either won't work or causes the browsers to crash. Along with this programs like Photobooth crash. The only hint I've got to what's going on is that when I open After Effects after all this happens it freezes upon opening whilst "initialising Media Core," and Sibelius does the same whilst "Initialising Playback System"
So I'm guessing there's something wrong with my Macbook Pro's "media core"/"playback system".
The only way to sort this problem out is to log out & log back in again, but after a while the same thing happens and all media stops working. Having to close all my applications to log out and log back in again can get really annoying. This problem started about a month or so ago and I have no idea what triggered it or how to fix it.
I was wondering if anyone else has encountered this sort of behaviour with their Mac and know how to fix it?

I would try some basic repairs and see if that helps.
Try using Disk Utility to do a Disk Repair, as shown in this link, while booted up on your install disk.
You could have some directory corruption. Let us know what errors Disk Utility reports and if DU was able to repair them. Disk Utility's Disk Repair is not perfect and may not find or repair all directory issues. A stronger utility may be required to finish the job.
After that Repair Permissions.
No need to report Permissions errors....we all get them.

Flash in Firefox with Vista Ultimate Works a while then stops working until restart

I recently got a new computer with Vista Ultimate. I
downloaded all the patches and installed the latest versions of
Firefox (2.0.0.4) & Flash Player (9.0.45.0). I have the
following add-ons loaded in Firefox: Firebug 1.05, Greasemonkey
0.7.20070607.0), Tab Mix Plus (0.3.6), Talkback (2.0.0.4), DOM
Inspector (1.8.1.4). This is the process that happens.
1) Connect to the computer in questoin using RDP
2) Launch Firefox and go to a site like Youtube or MySpace.
It works great. Everything plays that I click on.
3) Disconnect from RDP and reconnect.
4) The Flash plays never work again. They will typically
start a show for 2-10 seconds and then just "halt". This is every
movie I view off of either YouTube or MySpace. Even if I close the
Myspace & YouTube tabs and open them in a new clean tab.
If I close Firefox and reopen it everything starts working
again. Again this appears to work until I disconnect from RDP
again.
What is going wrong here? What can I do to fix this or upload
data dumps so this can get fixed?

Optical Mouse Stops Working Until Restart Performed!

My wife and I use our 7-year old CRT iMac as a second machine.
Today, the original optical mouse stopped working but worked again on restarting the iMac.
It is now stopping and starting again (on restart) like a learner driver's car!
Do I need to buy a new mouse for this elderly machine or could the fault be elsewhere?

Try a new Logitech mouse. They aren't all that expensive. The original Apple mouse developed cord troubles right where it attaches to the mouse body. That may be what's ailing the beast.

Hibernate/suspend will cause oss4 to stop working until restart

i checked both files. they are both correct and executable.

External Speakers Randomly Stop Working until I "Test" or Disable/Enable

I'm using a HP Pavillion DV6 Notebook PC Running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1.
External speakers randomly stop working until I "test" or disable/enable them. Headphone/HDMI Audio Works.
Background
-Recently had to do a clean install of windows.
-Went to the HP Drivers Website and downloaded all of the latest drivers.
-I installed several other programs as well (Flash, Steam, Media Player, Browser)
-The problem started
Current Settings
-My deafult device is "Speakers and Headphones: IDT High Definition Audio CODEC"
-Enhancements are disabled
-Bass and Treble are set to 4
-Format is set to 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality)
-Allowing applications to take exclusive control of the device or not doesn't make a difference (but it's currently off)
Troubleshooting
-The audio works by plugging in headphones or using an HDMI device
-The audio comes back if I go to my sound settings and hit "Test", or if I disable and re-enable the device
Error Messages
-Youtube starts the video for 3 seconds, restarts and sputters a bit, and then says that there was an error
-My media player (MusicBee) gives me this message: "Unable to start playback (Error = BASS_ERROR_BUFLOST)"
That's everything I can think of. Any ideas?

I see that you are having a frustrating time with the sound to your external speakers. Have you tried connecting the speakers to another computer to see if is a hardware issue with the speakers? Do the regular speakers work? What is your product number as there are several models in the dv6 series?

my music videos stop playing after 3 mins it happens to them all they worked fine before I upgraded to the new software

No there is no particular limit, especially one as short as 4 minutes in the Flash player or a Web page in general.
The video file may have been corrupted before or during upload to server.
Test the original video file on your local machine, does it play the entire length? is so, notice the file size.
Compare that size to the file size of the video on the server... if they are the same, you might want to re-upload anyway.
Your video file will also have a web address that specifies exactly where it is located on your server. Do a direct download and test the file to see if it is courrupt.
It will have an address something like this:
http://www.cidigitalmedia.com/chris_test/tombstone/video1.flv
So download your file directly from the server and play on your local machine to see if it's longer than 4 min.
Could it be that your Web host only allows certain size files (no videos over 4 min for example)?

Nokia music player stopped working

I have a Nokia 5500 sport and I have recently put a 2 Gb micro SD card in it. Before I had a 1 Gb micro SD and everything worked just fine. But since I put in the bigger card the music player stopped working. It just closes and does not start up.
If I look up the music files in the phones exporer I can start the music from their but I cant enter the library from the music player. Whats wrong? I tried to remove the memory card and then it worked. Is a 2 Gb micro SD card too big for the phone?

Music app stopped working

My Music app stopped working yesterday in the middle of a podcast. The screen was frozen, although the scroll of the title at the top continued. I had to unplug the earbuds to pause the podcast, but since then, I haven't been able to get another podcast/song to start, and the screen is frozen on the podcast that it was on yesterday. All the other apps on my iTouch work fine. I'm on OS5.I was plugged in to a power source at work (not my PC) when it happened, but I've synced since then, and it's still locked up. Help!

I am able to play podcasts directly from the iTunes app, it's just the music app that's locked up.

Creative cloud sync - Stops working until update.

I am about the closest thing to an IT administrator we have at a small newspaper that has recently transitioned to Creative Cloud for our production and file sync. While much of our experience has been good we have had some weird problems that make it fairly hard to rely on the file syncing feature of CC. Primarily, recently adobe issued an update to Creative Cloud (Which they do a lot!) that required us to update before it would work again. The notification for this update came in as an icon blip in the menu bar on our mac systems and the system tray (which hides most icons) on the Windows system. As a result only one of our artist updated right away, and the rest ignored/didn't see it. The problem was file syncing stopped working until the clients updated. The end result was that people's artwork wasn't syncing and about a whole days worth of work was delayed until someone figured out that things were breaking and alerted me. So my complaint/suggestion is this:
If you issue an update:
Allow the old versions to keep working until the update is installed.
If the update is important enough to require updating, notify at least the CC Team Administrators in an obvious way (email is a great way, since you already don't mind emailing us about other stuff)
Also why you are at it if you could ad a "Sync Now" button that would be appreciated.
It is a little frustrating to be chewed out over something that you were not aware of over the weekend. Especially since CC is marketed as the backbone of the Adobe system. I know that many of our artist should have paid attention to the icons, but their job is to design their work and get on with it not to be system administrators. They can't all be verifying updates and checking if CC is working all the time. Especially since a traditional server set up wouldn't have this issue (though the cost of setting it up is obnoxious).
To the community: Have any of you experienced and issue like this before? If so how is the best way to solve this issue in the future. Do I just need to insist that everyone always checks for updates? The problem is compounded by the fact that I am part-time/freelance and thus can't babysit many of our artist.

You have to provide system info and other details like what program(s) you actually mean. There are no technical reasons that should affect the apps just by disconnecting your computer...

Audio and Video Stops Working

Hello,
My audio and video stops working. It starts working again when I reboot. I'll leave the computer for a while, maybe overnight, and when I return the audio and the video on the iMac will not function. When I click Play on iTunes or You Tube nothing happens.
Any suggestions will be much appreciated!

It gave me some of the links I had been desperately looking for. I have an intel on board GPU and the GTX 675 MX. Because of MSI's bios, there's not a lot I can do in there to ensure that the computer is using the GTX over the Intel. I found some settings which give preferences for which card to use for which programs. PPro had the Nvidia already selected, but I went so far as to completely remove the Intel from all of the settings. Still no change. Today I went as far as to actually disable the intel GPU in the device settings. I rebooted and I wasn't getting anything in PPro. I switched her to software acceleration and it asked me if I wanted to delete the previews. I said yes and now she can see again. Of course I have NO clue yet if this is a permanent change or not. I do want the Hardware Acceleration, so leaving it in Software Mode is not a long term solution. It gets her working tonight, so on that note I'm happy.
Time will tell if this helps or hinders, but it's some sort of movement.

My Youtube videos stopped working on my iphone 5s. I have the latest updates on the phone and deleted and reinstalled the Youtube app. Didn't work.

I had major issues using VPN passthrough with PPTP on the RV180W through a PPPoE internet connection. In the end I gave up - I think there are some PPTP servers that the RV180 just has trouble with. I had no problems with 3 other routers straight out the box. Unfortunately I lost access to the VPN server before Cisco could fix.

Its interesting that it used to work and now doesn't - maybe Verizon or the VPN server have had configuration changes? Or maybe your antivirus has created a different profile for the different router - would be worth temporarily disabling any firewal/antivirus?
It would be good to try a different non-Verizon router if you can get your hands on one to see if Verizon network changes now require special features/settings on the router.

Online videos stop working

Hi, since i updated my iphone the online videos stopped working, in safari, google chrome, etc. i watch southpark in the next web page beta.southpark.com and only i can watch a part of the video and then it just show a black screen.
What can i do?

Music controls stopped working after I updated iOS7

As soon as I updated (iOS7) to my phone, my music controls stopped working. On the lock screen and in music app, I can’t change volume. Control button looks like lock and when I touch it, volume doesn't want to change. It’s not about my iphone speakers because my phone can ring. I already tryed to reset my phone and still nothing better.

This is happening with my iPad mini too. I bought last week, and it have already come with iOs 7, and the music controls on the lock screen had been working normally but since two days ago it stopped working the play button, favorites and next song button, only the volume is working yet. If anybody know something, let us know. Tell us what you will do cathconst. Thanks. :/

Sound stops working until i restart.

I currently have the satellite a505-s6965. I bought it back in 2009 but last year my hard drive crashed so I replaced it with a 1tb SSdrive and upgraded to windows 7 in the process. I havent had any other issues until maybe about 2-3 weeks ago when i noticed after so long my sound stops working. I can't play videos, music or anything. Itunes wont even show the song playing at all. I have done everything, my drivers are all up to date, my bios is updated. I have tried headphones and none of that changes anything.
However...if I hit the volume up button on the laptop, it will beep through both the speakers and headphones but no other sounds will play. But if I restart it will all go back to working forr so long. Sometimes when the sound works i may sound a little cracked or weird.
Any suggestions on a fix for this issue?

Hi. I see that this question has gone unresolved since Oct. I'm having a similar problem. Also using FCP 7.
I have a video, recorded on a Canon Vixia HV30. I captured the video and found that the sound was recorded too high. There was an audio recorder, Zoom H4, recording at the same time, and it had a much better level, so I imported the .wav file to my project. I spent about 2 hrs cutting the video and the audio, syncing the audio to the video and making cuts between the songs that were played to edit out the between song banter and other stuff.
All seemed to be working fine, and then at some point, I clicked the "L" key to move forward, and there was a loud pop, and the sound went away. Whenever I press the start key, or one of the J, K, L keys, it click/pops and no sound is available.
Any help with that?
