    Thread of the Week:
This week's interesting read is..."Connecting two Actiontec Routers".  I am sure the topic of needing more wired connections for growing number of computers and BluRay players will be important for those that expand their network especially during this holiday season!

Hey ... that would be a nice perk for MVP's ... a temporary bump to kudos counting for "2" instead of "1" (unless of course you're already "gold").

ALWAYS?!?   NEVER?!?  This is week TWO - and I believe the FIOS and Residential boards were active a bit longer than the wireless.....so let's give this MVP program time to develop before generalizing about biased results.

What is the update number causing this issue?
Sounds very similar to this issue:
    http://blogs.vmware.com/workstation/2014/10/workstation-10-issue-recent-microsoft-windows-8-1-update.html
Are you running the most recent version of VMware Workstation 10?
For more support for VMware products, a better place is the VMware forums, as this forum is for Windows 8.x Hyper-V. (

I am honored to be on the list, however I wish it wasn't for the reason it was.
Unmentioned in your post is the outpouring of support for the Funimation channel.  This channels cancellation, due to what is quickly turning out to be a less than factual reason of 'low viewership' from Verizon, has mobilized many of your customers.  In fact, I'm sure that most of the people in your list this week were kudo'ed for posts in 1 of 2 threads:
    Funimation Canceled!
    Save Funimation Petition
If we are to look at the pure numbers, at the time of this writing those 2 threads combined for a total of nearly 950 kudos and 3800+ views.  Even more telling:  198 of the 200 most kudo'ed posts are people SUPPORTING Funimation Channel and against Verizon's decision to cancel the channel.  (http://forums.verizon.com/t5/kudos/leaderboardpage/board-id/FiOS_TV_Entertainment/timerange/one_mont...
IMHO (and no offense to Justin and his very helpful document) either of these 2 would have made a much more appropriate 'Thread of the week'.

  • Why won't iTunes allow my iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 to play 176.4/24 AIFF files created in December of 2014 and January of 2015, but will allow my iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 to play 176.4/24 AIFF files created before December of 2014?

When I buy and download high resolution music files (FLAC and DSD), I convert them to AIFF files and add them to my iTunes music library.  Specifically, I have been converting DSD64 files to 176.4/24 AIFF files.  These AIFF files (modified in some respects by iTunes) have been synched to my old iPhone 5 and new iPhone 6.  Until December, every 176.4/24 AIFF file played as expected.  In December, I purchased two DSD64 albums, which I converted to 176.4/24 AIFF files using AudirvanaPlus 1.5.  These 176.4/24 AIFF files will not play on either iPhone.  When I converted those DSD64 albums to 88.2/24 AIFF files, they played on both iPhones.  In December, I also purchased several 192/24 FLAC albums and converted them to 192/24 AIFF files using Amarra HiFi.  These 192/24 AIFF files play properly on both iPhones.
Why won't iTunes allow my iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 to play 176.4/24 AIFF files created in December of 2014 and January of 2015, but will allow my iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 to play 176.4/24 AIFF files created before December of 2014?

I have a similar problem and have spent three sequential days at the Apple Genius Bar before we were able to exclude most other possibilities and found that certain files (in my case all mp3s from CDs I own) that play just fine in iTunes 11.0.1 and that used to play in iOS 6.0.1 do not play in iOS 6.1. We restored the phone to factory settings and synced only a few of the music files that were problematic. They still did not play. We reproduced the problem on my iPad mini (iOS6.1).
Apple Telephone Support suggestion was to convert all mp3 files in iTunes to AAC (which according to Apple Website may degrade sound quality). No further suggestions or escalation but a recommendation to place comments on www.apple.com/feedback and, if there are enough complaints, someone at Apple might take an interest in this problem. Something has changed in iOS 6.1 where files that played on prior mobile system software no longer work.
Apple, please pay attention to this glitch with iOS 6.1.

  • After updating Safari to the latest patch 7.1.2 on December 30, 2014 on OS X Maverick, my safari became unresponsive

After updating Safari to the latest patch 7.1.2 on December 30, 2014 on OS X Maverick, my safari became unresponsive at times.  It freezes the whole MacBook air for a few minutes, then comes back.  Pages can be very slow to load.  I have rebooted the modem, no change.  Does anyone else have the problem?

Unfortunately, my macbook air did it again.  It freezes, not only Safari but it takes around 15 to 20 seconds to go from one application/screen to another.  I had to force quit Safari and restart my computer.  Here is the log from the console.  Any idea.  I did what was indicated at the front of the message.

You have only about 10 percent free drive space left. 50gB is enough to run the computer but, if it gets much smaller, that can slow how Virtual Memory (VM) works as the system has to more carefully search the remaining space for qualified blocks to which to write data.
Adding RAM will reduce the writes-to-disk by VM but you should probably consider a little holiday disk cleaning of stuff you no longer use.
    This concerns me:

That is a LOT of log-in items for a compute with 4GB RAM. Some are hard to avoid but Excel is a big program that can be easily launched from the Dock. I don't know what "Inspiration 8" is but likely the same advice will apply.

  • Europeans claim that Apple announced it will no longer support Aperture after December of 2014. Is there any truth to that?

Two of my European friends who use Apple products extensively, and Aperture exclusively for their photography needs, have just told me that Apple in Europe announced they will no longer support Aperture after December 31, 2014. They are quite stressed over it. My question is simply this:"Is there any truth to this rumour, and does it effect us here in North America?" If so, is there any new product from Apple or a third-party group to replace Aperture?
Just curious, as I would hate to give up my many huge Aperture libraries and transition to some other solution.
    Thanks,
    ....Tahunga

Apple has announced, that it will stop the further development of Aperture. It will be updated to work with the new MacOS X version Yosemity, but then there will be no newer versions.  The new Photos.app to come with Yosemity will be the successor for both Aperture and iPhoto.
See for example this page:   Aperture is Dead. Long Live Photos! | ApertureExpert

at past I got any one application updates in App Store after one /two week.... But suddenly I don't get any applications updates from app stores updates side.....
M Using more than 40 apps in my ipad4... such as facebook apps need updates after every two weeks.... But trust me I don't get any application updates since last one month... What's the reason?

I haven't seen any since December 20th. It is going to depend on your applications, and they usually close off the developer area around the holidays. If you want to check, go to the App Store link and click on Updates to see if there are any there. You can do that manually. There is no specific schedule as to when app updates come out.

Install it just as you did before. You should have backed up the download to a CD or backup HD and have the S/N archived with the backup. If you did not backup (please do in the future), you can download from http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-downloads.html unless it was an upgrade (I don't think you can use these files for upgrades).
