My .5tb Time Capsule's orange light is flashing. The internet and everything utelse is working fine, and I'm all backed up, so howcome it doesn't show the solid green light? What should I do?
The orange light has been flashing for a couple days, and even if I unplug everything (Time Capsule & modem) and plug it all in again, still the flashing orange light. I'm sure it should be solid green. The internet connection seems to be working fine, so I'm wondering what's happening. What should I do?
I don't think Apple will want it.. you can sell it on ebay etc.. but it is not worth a lot.
Your TC needs a new power supply but it is now uneconomic to fix them. Apple do not supply any parts for their repair network.

I purchased an adapter for playing videos from my ipod touch on my tv. It works fine for videos I have purchased but won't allow me to watch videos from Hulu Plus. What should I do to remedy the situation? Thanks!
The iPod TV out only works for aps that support TV out. The description of Hulu Plus only states that iiPad supports HDMI video out (SD only)

My battery reads that it is 100% charged. However, as soon as I unplug it, it dies instantly. The battery lights are still functional, and everything else is working fine! What's wrong with my battery?

I have a 1 TB Time Capsule on a wireless network with my iMac and my wife's MacBook Pro. The TC is almost full. What is the best way/device to increase storage capacity?
Replace the Time Capsule with one that has a larger hard drive. Or erase the one you have and start a new set of backups or backup one of the computers to a different backup drive.

I'm trying to extend my wifi network with time capsule but it can't find the existing BT wifi network even though it is there with a good signal strength. The Time Capsule is connected to a Netgear router via ethernet.
You will need to start over on the setup of the Time Capsule as follows:
Disconnect any Ethernet cables that might be connected to the Time Capsule, but leave it powered on
Hold in the reset button on the back of the Time Capsule for 8-10 seconds and release. The reset button is located next to the AC power socket.
Allow a full minute for the Time Capsule to restart to a slow, blinking amber light
Connect the Ethernet cable from a LAN <--> port on the Netgear to the WAN "O" port on the Time Capsule. The Ethernet cable must remain connected at all times.
Click the WiFi icon at the top of the Mac's screen
Look for a setting of New AirPort Base Station
Click on Time Capsule
The example below shows an AirPort Express. You will see Time Capsule on your screen.
That will get the setup wizard going. It will take a minute to analyze the settings, then display a screen that looks like this, except you will see a picture of the Time Capsule
Network Name..........Type in the exact name that the Netgear wireless is using
Base Station.............Type in a name that you want to call the Time Capsule. Use something short and simple. Mine is TC, for example
Password..................Type in the exact password that the Netgear wireless requires
Verify.........................Verify the Password again
Click Next
The setup wizard will configure everything for you automatically. When you see the message of Setup Complete, click Done.
That's it. Now you have one big "extended" network. Technically, this is called a "roaming" network. -
I have an existing new belkin modem router which works fine with quiet a few wired and wireless products in my house. My question is if i buy a time capsule can i put it in another room and wirelessly connect it to the belkin modem router, I would then just like my macbook pro and (imac future purchase) to wirelessly back up to it???????????
Your will need to perform a Factory Default Reset on the TIme Capsule to clear out the current network settings and then reconfigure it to "join" your wireless network using the AirPort Utility setup application.
To perform the Factory Default Reset on the Time Capsule....
Pull the power cord from the back of the device
Wait a few moments
Hold in the reset button on the back of the Time Capsule and keep holding it an additional 8-10 seconds while you simultaneously plug the power cord back in to the Time Capsule
Release the reset button after the hold period and allow 25-30 seconds for the Time Capsule to restart to a slow, blinking amber light
On your Mac.....
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click Continue
Follow the guided setup and choose the "join" option when it appears duriing the setup
You will need to know the exact type of wireless security that the Belkin router is using to enter this information during the setup of the Belkin. Otherwise, the Time Capsule cannot join the network, and you will receive an error message after the configuration process. -
Time capsule has been working perfectly for months.
Suddenly I can't connect to the drive on my airport time capsule and am receiving the message: “AirPort Time Capsule” can’t be opened because the original item can’t be found.
Time machine appears to be still backing up (last backup within the last hour), but drive is not visible and I have files stored on it.
I have tried rebooting everything in order as suggested for other issues, anyone got any ideas how to see the drive again??What OS are you running??
It is very typical Yosemite issue.
1. In airport utility does the TC show up.. if so click it.. and see the summary page which will include its IP address. That is what you are after.
From my screenshot you can see the TC address is 192.168.2.57
It might well show up briefly after a reboot or in ipad / iphone version utility. Yosemite is hopeless. The airport utility hardly works.
2. In Finder use Go, Connect to server.
Type in SMB://192.168.2.57 (replace with IP you discover).
If it is possible it will request a password.. type that in and DO NOT FORGET.. to store it in your keychain.
This will work until the TC changes IP which won't happen if it is main router.. but will happen if it is bridged.. so you need to tell me the whole network setup.
Mavericks is nearly as bad and the above instructions should be universal except I would use AFP instead of SMB. Apparently Yosemite is now totally Windows oriented. -
Using Time Capsule as external hard drive on a PC, and beyond...
I need to achieve two separate things with my new 500GB TC. The first is to send it to a friend on the other side of the country for her to use Time Capsule with her PC as an external hard drive.
I then want to take those files (once sent back to me from CA), and put them on my computer. After that I just want to use Time Capsule with Time Machine, but I'm pretty sure I can figure that set-up out.
My question is, is this possible? And if so, what is the easiest process to tell my PC friend in order for her to connect Time Capsule as an external?
The reason I am attempting to do this is because I didn't see a need to buy an external and TC as well. The guy at the Mac store said it would be easy to do this, but I'm rather computer illiterate.
That being said, I apologize for my ignorance in regards to the use of Time Capsule, but any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

NasseWell, you just hook the Time Capsule up (either wirelessly or wired via ethernet) and for the PC you will want to install AirPort Utility, run it, and then she will be able to copy files to it. Then when it gets back to you you can run AirPort Utility (it is located in Applications/Utilities) and then access the files she put on your Time Capsule.

Open a Finder window. If you see your Time Capsule in the "Shared" section of the sidebar, clicking on it should show the "Data" volume (or whatever you named it) in the main part of the window. Double-click on it to mount the "Data" volume.
If you don't see your Time Capsule in the Finder sidebar, you may not have enabled "disk sharing" in AirPort Utility. I am not 100% what isn't allowed.. but I am assuming you want to spread the backup across the two disks.. internal TC and 6TB external.. this is not possible.. It has to be one or the other. TC has no way to build a raid JBOD or anything else. Nor would you want to as that is the most likely to fail and kill your data.
Let me add, backing up 6TB over USB on TC.. will be the most excruciating experience of your life.. cf child birth or passing kidney stones.. large ones.. being the male equivalent. -
