My 5th gen nano will not sync win 7 .says connected but not show in itunes. driver is updated ,working properly ....help

my 5th gen nano ,has updated driver ,working properly. ipod connected but not showing in itunes ?

By the way, I totally restored everything. It was ok. It starts to 'unrecognize' my iPod Classic when it comes to synching with iPhoto. After this happened all the menus disappeared from my iPod (music, Podcasts, movies synched fine). It seems to be a problem when synching with iPhoto. It was the same thing before.

  • Itunes could not sync because a connection could not be established to the Iphone

I have been trying to sync my 4s and I keep getting "Itunes could not sync because a connection could not be established to the Iphone"

I am also getting this error with two iPad 2s and an iPhone 5. All are on iOS 6.0.1 and this is with iTunes 11 on a Windows 7 PC. I also have an iPhone 4 that does not seem to have an issue that I can tell. When I plug in the iPhone 5 and one of the iPads, it will start to to sync and right at the end I get that message. It will, however, still continue to sync the device after the error message pops up. With the one iPad, which is rarely connected to computer, it will find the iPad via wifi when iTunes is opened, but I will get that message when it is performing its initial sync.
While I kept having sync issues when using iTunes 10.7, this is a new issue for me. I was also getting a lot of warnings that the iPhone or iPad could not be synced because the connection was lost even though the iPad and iPhone were connected via USB cable. In those cases, the sync would just abort. I have not gotten that error though in two days. At the time to resolve that issue, I needed to disconnect the USB cable, reset the iPhone/iPad, and then reconnect the USB cable.
I really wish Apple would figure out these sync issues.

  • How do I fix this?! Certain songs on my 6th gen nano will no longer play AT ALL, but they used to.

6th Gen iPod Nano will not play certain songs; it just skips over them to a song that WILL play. These are all songs that PREVIOUSLY played without any issue. They still play fine in iTunes on my computer. All mp3 format. Tried restoring several times. I've looked around online and have found that I'm not the only one experiencing this issue; however, I have yet to find any solution to the problem. Help!

Try running these songs through MP3 Validator to see if there any issues.
If nothing else, convert them to another format such as AAC via iTunes using the instructions in this Apple support document.

  • 3rd gen nano. Lock click wheel volume control but NOT track control???

My title basically says it all. I have a 3rd gen Nano that I want to use solely for a car and it won't be removed. Problem? The track control has to be done on the iPod itself as the car stereo won't do it, but the volume can be controlled by the car's head unit. That said I want the iPod volume to always be on max. Apparently the volume lock feature isn't what I'm looking for, nor is the hold switch. I want to lock the volume from being controlled by the scroll wheel but still be able to change tracks using the scroll wheel... without having to go into a menu or anything. The iPod will eternally be on shuffle and any track changes will just be skipping songs... and all done blindly just by touch... hence why it's driving me nuts I keep scrolling the volume down. Hope that makes some sense. I'm long-winded and wordy but not always clear. Lol

The system won't seem to let me post this anywhere... it's saying I'm not allowed whatever that means. Exception being this community. So sorry if I pi** everyone off by listing in the wrong location.

  • Notes sync and MobileMe, maybe, but not iPhone

I think someone forgot to communicate with the iTunes, MobileMe and iPhone teams.
I can sync my notes with MobileMe. Can't find them anywhere on MobileMe. Not sure if they are really synced.
I can sync my notes with iPhone and iTunes, but have to be connected by cable. No immediate update.
Why can't I sync my Notes on the iPhone the same way bookmarks are synced?
Shouldn't iTunes say: "Your Notes are being synced with your iPhone over the air from MobileMe"?
Shouldn't iPhone have an ON/OFF for Notes, the same as Mail or Calendar?

[spent 20 mins with MobileMe chat figuring this out:]
Notes on the iPhone sync to desktop Mail as "On Your Mac" Notes (under Reminders), by cable only.
Mobile Me will sync Notes, but ONLY Notes that you create as attached to the MobileMe email account.
To do this, go into Mail Preferences, click on Composing, and set "Create Notes and To-Dos" to MobileMe in the dropdown (make sure you have set up your MobileMe account in Mail first). Now create a note in Mail. It will show up, in bold and marker felt font, as a entry in your MobileMe inbox.
When you log into me.com and click on mail, you will see the notes in your inbox, but not bold. However, they will not sync to the phone from there--I think they are designed to sync to another Mac computer, but do not have one to test. So they are not all that useful, IMO.
If you set the preference above to "last viewed account" instead of Mobile Me, then you can create notes in either place by selecting the MM inbox or On My Mac first.
Suggest you look into Evernote, Shovebox, Missing Sync for iPhone, or any of the many other note-syncing third-party options, because Apple's solution is pretty sad. Complain to Apple at
    http://apple.com/feedback/
By the way, Amazon and other resellers sell MobileMe for ≤$70, regularly. The retail box contains an activation key that you can use to renew an account. No need to pay Apple's $99, unless the auto-convenience is worth $30 to you (and it may be, though, usually companies give a discount for auto-renewal. But okay, Apple).

  • IPod classic 5th gen. with sad face goes into disk mode but wont register in itunes

I have an iPod classic 5th gen. A while ago it stopped working and the sad faced iPod started showing up. i've tried putting it into disk mode but when i do it wont pop up into itunes like it should and as soon as i unplug it the sad face appears again. is there anyway to fix it or is it done?

There is a pretty comprehensive post written by another forum member which is about the sad iPod icon. You may find it useful.
The Sad iPod/folder and ! icon.
Btw, there's no such thing as a "4th generation 20gb classic." Your iPod is a 4th gen and not an iPod classic which is a completely different model.

  • IPod nano (5th gen.) being recognized by computer (Windows XP) but not iTunes. Please Help.

    Hello everyone,
When I plug in my iPod nano 5th generation, my computer is recognizing it, but iTunes is not. I just recently bought it off of a friend and it was working perfectly. Today is the first time that it wouldn't connect to iTunes. I have tried using different USB ports and that didn't work. I plugged in my sister's iPod Touch and it worked fine. I don't want to have to try to uninstall/reinstall iTunes for fear of loosing some of the information on there. I have also read several things that say that that doesn't work, so I don't see any reason to take a pointless risk. If there is anything that I can do to get it to work? I would try another computer, but my home computer is the only one that I have. I really need to get it to work ASAP. PLEASE HELP!!

If you check other error problems linked to this issue (example errors 1437 and 1439), you will note that these recognition issues have been prevalent for a lot of iPods (not only nanos and suffles) since iTunes version 7.5 went away. Seems like Apple doesn't have a clue, and doesn't want to have a clue. Many people all over the world have come up with things that have worked for them, but none of those fixes are working for me any more. Maybe this is just Apple's way of forcing people to buy their brand computers. It stinks. I am at a total loss as to what to do to get my Nano recognized at all in iTunes, and my Shuffles to sync. Obviously we are all venting our frustrations on an Apple hosted discussion board. Equally obvious is that no one at Apple is reading this stuff, further displaying that Apple simply does NOT CARE.
If I ever in the next couple of years or so (see, I am not very optimistic) get an HONEST answer out of Apple, or a workable solution elsewhere around the internet, I'll do a follow-up post here. But, I am not very hopeful. I think my iPods have just become expensive chunks of junk, because I am NOT going to buy an Apple computer just for them.

  • My 5th gen Nano won't Sync

So, I have plugged my iPod in. On the actual iPod the screen says it connects and syncs, but none of my songs have gone onto it.
Itunes knows its plugged in, but pressing sync doesn't do anything.

To use automatic syncing, you need to set up the iPod's Music tab in iTunes, to tell iTunes what selection of songs to sync to your iPod.
Select the iPod in iTunes.  There is a row of "tabs" that starts with Summary.  Click on Music there.  On the Music tab, make sure Sync Music is checked.  Below that, you can select how to sync your iPod with music.
If your entire iTunes music library will fit on our iPod, you can choose Entire Music library.  Otherwise, choose to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  Below that, make a selection of songs based on playlists, artists, albums, and/or genres (that will fit on the iPod).  After setting it up, click the Apply button to do the initial sync of your song selection to the iPod.
Going forward, any changes you make to your iTunes music library (such as adding or removing songs) will sync automatically to the iPod the next time it is connected (or when you click that Sync button), but only IF the changes to the music library are included in your selection on the Music tab.
An easy way to set this up is to create a new regular playlist in iTunes, and call it something like "iPod Music."  From your main iTunes library, add only the songs you want on the iPod to that playlist.  On the iPod's Music tab, select that ONE playlist as your selection of songs.  Any time you want to update songs on your iPod, just update that playlist in iTunes and automatically sync the changes to your iPod.

  • Three 5th gen nanos. One NOT recognized by itunes and computer; other 2 fine.

I have 3 daughters and three 5th gen nanos. I use the same cord, plug and computer, and one is not being recognized by itunes or computer and will not charge; other 2 fine. Something wrong with just the one. Resetting (pressing menu and center until apple appears?) doesn't work. One daughter very SAD. Please help if you can.
Oh, and I've also put it in disk mode. Still not recognized.

I think I found the problem, and it may be useful to others. I cosely looked at the dock connector next to the earphone jack and found that it has a chip in it. Not good news for Gen 5 ipod nano's. Apparently, the connector is bonded to the logic board. I did find that if I gently put pressure on it in one directio or the other, it will make a connection.
Must break the bad news to daughter. Sad face.

  • I can't add songs to my ipod nano 5th gen. Get a sync error (13019)

Today I connected my 5th gen. nano to my windows computer to add some songs to my library. When I connected it I got a pop up saying windows had added my ipod drive to the computer. I dont know why it did this because it was already added; I've had my nano for over a year and have been using it on my computer for too. I went to add songs, and they worked. When I subsequently went to change something in a playlist, I got an error saying my ipod couldn't be synced (13019). I have never had my ipod synced so i dont know why it would say this. Now, when I try to add songs to my ipod, it doesn't work, and I get the same sync error message. I don't know what to do.

Do you have any better luck with that if you update to iTunes 10.6.1.7?
From the notes for the release:
iTunes 10.6.1 provides a number of improvements, including:
    • Fixes several issues that may cause iTunes to unexpectedly quit while playing videos, changing artwork size in Grid view and syncing photos to devices.
    • Addresses an issue where some iTunes interface elements are incorrectly described by VoiceOver and WindowEyes.
    • Fixes a problem where iTunes may become unresponsive while syncing iPod nano or iPod shuffle.
    • Resolves an ordering problem while browsing TV episodes in your iTunes library on Apple TV.

  • 6th gen nano. will not remember which song I was on if paused (sleep) or turned off. Defaults to some random song in list and to shuffle mode.  I have to go back to songlist and try to remember what song I was listening to (ridiculous). Any way to fix?

I tried just leaving the player in the paused/sleep mode instead of turning it off (someone said it will stay on the song you were just listening to--but no).  Still goes back to nowhere (now playing = random and shuffle).  I've read that this is a serious problem with the 6th gen.  I don't use or like the shuffle feature.  I use a sort list in my songlists to play in the order I want.  I just want the player to remember which song I left off on and pick it back up from there when I get back to it. I have a 5th gen nano and 2 classics and they work great at going right back to where you left off.  Seems like a no brainer to have it remember which song you were on in a songlist and not go back to a random shuffle (now playing) and hear the same song over.  Anyone know any tricks to resolve this?
    Thanks
    Rob

No, the app does not have to completely restart. It gets shifted in its open state into storage. Similar to how a computer uses the hard disk when it has insufficient memory.
What complicates things is that sometimes memory does not get returned for reuse when you close an app. Thus yo should periodically double click the Home button and "delete" unnecessary apps from the multitasking dock and power off and then back on the iPod.

I just bought a new laptop and my ipod nano will not stay connected to my computer. When I first connect the ipod it starts to sync on my ipod but not on itunes. The ipod is initially connected to my computer, I can see it when I look on devices in my computer. However, when it finishes syncing it is no longer detected to my computer. I cannot transfer any of my songs to my new laptop because of this. I have tried to reinstall itunes, reset my ipod and use a different port. None of these things worked. Any ideas?

    Hey Stan1958,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing issues with your iPod nano and iTunes. Based on your symptoms, you may find the following resources helpful in resolving this issue:
    Windows
iPod appears in Windows but not in iTunes
iPod not recognized in 'My Computer' and in iTunes for Windows
iTunes reports that "iTunes cannot recognize this iPod at this time"
    Thanks,

  • My 6th gen. nano will not come back on, Whats wrong.

My 6th gen. nano will not come back on, Whats wrong? I tried to turn it on, and putting on my charger and It won't respond in any way.

I've just had mine returned from Apple unrepaired after sending it off with the same problem after 6 months.
Apparently there was liquid damage so they won't repair it!
This was news to me, as I have looked after my iPod and it has never been near any liquids. The only thing I can think of is that it was caused by humidity due to jogging with it, which is an activity targeted by this product. So that's £130 down the drain!
If you search nano and humidity/jogging/sweating etc on here you will find hundreds of similar complaints. As far as I'm concerned the 6th Gen Nano is not fit for purpose.
It's the last Apple product I will ever buy.

  • 5th gen iPod will not unmount

I have a 5th gen iPod which I use to backup other data files. The iPod setting within iTunes allow for desktop mounting of the iPod. When I attempt to unmount the iPod from the desktop (with iTunes closed) and only the finder (and dashboard) running, I get a message indicating that the iPod cannot be unmounted because it contains files that are still in use. As mentioned above, the only applications running are the Dashboard and Finder. I do have one widget that displayes hard disk usage information, and I have used the Activity Monitor to quit the process just before attempting to unmount the iPod but the unmount status does not change. Is there something else that I should be disabling before attempting to unmount the iPod?
Power Mac G4   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   iPod 5th gen, iPod nano

I can't really explain why but sometimes it happens, to mine too, normally if you try unmounting again it should unmount, if not, the next time you have your iPod mounted on your desktop, do a Repair Permission from Disk Utility (Repair Permission on your main HD, not your iPod)
After that restart again, your problem should go away.
    Cheers
