This is more about your modem then anything. Sometimes you'll need to unplug and plug back in your modem. Consider it a glitch from the ISP or just the modem in general.
when I need to turn something off then on I try the modem first. This when I'm not doing any ware and tare to the device.

  • Airport extreme will only get or send e-mail messages, or allow Safari to function for about 5 minutes.  After that it doesn't respond even though the green light is on and diagnostics says there is nothing wrong. Have to unplug again to get a response.

For the past 2 days Airport Extreme works for about 5 minutes and then will not receive or send e-mail messages, or let Safari work.  The only way I can send or receive is to unplug Airport Extreme for a few seconds, reconnect and then work frantically for 5 minutes before it does the same thing.  The green light stays on and the diagnostics tells me nothing is wrong even though no mail is moving.
    Any ideas?

  • My iPhone 5 won't connect to my macbook pro retina over bluetooth?

My iPhone 5 won't connect to my macbook pro retina over bluetooth?

Ah, sure it actually won't.  I have the same problem, and I contacted Apple Support.  They told me that there is an incompatability between the iphone 5 and MacBook Pro Retina such that Bluetooth pairing is not possible.
The Support Agent actually had the audacity to tell me this was part of the design of the OS on the MacBook Pro, like Windows people saying, "That's not a bug.  It's a feature!!"
Personally, I think this is insane.  While I was trying to tether the iphone to the MacBook Pro retina for an internet connection, there are other reasons related to file transfers for which one would want to pair the iphone 5 with the MacBook Pro retina.
I am hoping this "feature" is fixed in iOS 7, and/or in some dot release of Mac OS 10.8.
By the way, the personal hotspot feature on my Verizon iphone 5 works great either via a wifi or USB connection.  There are occaisions, however, when one would 1) not have a USB cable, and/or 2) have another wifi relationship between the phone and a network that one would not want to have to "forget" in order for it not to connect to that wifi network.  The Macbook will not find the iphone as a wifi hotspot if the iphone is connected to wifi in the first place.  At least mine won't.

Can you start Firefox in [[Safe mode]] ?
You can also do a clean reinstall and download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can initially skip the step to create a new profile, that may not necessary for this issue.

    Hi Zerr222,
Try unplugging the router from the power for 30 seconds, plug it back in and allow it 2 minuts to fully start.
Next turn the printer off and back on and check for any difference.
If the issue remain, may you changed a wireless router lately? what is your exact router brand and model?

  • My iPhone 3GS won't connect to my MacBook Pro via USB.

When I try to connect my iPhone 3GS to my MacBook Pro, there's no sign from either end that they're connected (the device won't show up in iTunes, and it also won't charge).
I've tried the same computer, with the same cable, and a different iPhone, which works fine. I've tried a different computer as well, and the phone won't connect with that one either. When I use the same cable to charge the phone, plugging it in, it charges fine, but it doesn't whenever I plug the USB into a computer. I've tried to go through all settings that may apply, but nothing seems strange, unless I'm overlooking something? The iPhone has fairly recently been fixed (the button didn't work), and I don't think I've tried syncing it since - could it have something to do with that?
I'd be very grateful for any suggestions.

Try restoring via iTunes. I really think it's time for an upgrade. You should really consider an iPhone 4 AT LEAST since they aren't so expensive used. If you check on Craigslist, you can find one for $100. The Retina Display part is so much better than standard resolution on the 3GS and below's screen.

  • 8900 won't connect on my MacBook Pro

I'm a new BB user and am having trouble getting my BB to connect with my MacBook Pro. Here's what I'm using:
    BB OS 5.0.0.900.
    BB Desktop Software v.2.1.3
    MacBook OS 10.6.8
When I plug in my micro USB to my laptop, the BB icon appears on the desktop but in my BB Desktop Software, it shows that it's not connected. Is there any way to fix this?
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi alecshimizu,
Welcome to BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Have you already tried using different USB ports on the Mac or a different USB cable? If so, try connecting again after rebooting the Mac and reinserting the battery in the BlackBerry. If this does not resolve the connection issue, try uninstalling the Desktop Software then reinstalling the latest version from www.blackberry.com/mac and testing again. http://bbry.lv/raPKiM
    Hope this helps,

  • I have connected an external hard drive to my new macbook pro.  I only have read access.  How do I copy folders to the external hard drive?

I have a new Macbook pro retina.  I have connected a WD external hard drive, but have only read access.  I want to back up my computer, and have the ability to archaive files.  Any suggestions?

I have connected a WD external hard drive, but have only read access.
As ds store already pointed out, if the drive is formatted as NTFS, you can't write to it. Fortunately, the fix is easy, just erase the hard drive using Disk Utility as Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
I want to back up my computer, and have the ability to archaive files.  Any suggestions?
Backups and archival backups are not necessarily the same thing. An archival backup is to be kept indefinitely far into the future, and should never be changed after it is created. That does not mesh well with being on the same drive as a backup maintained day-to-day. Ideally, archival backups should be written to one drive - possibly multiple backups, but each one should never be touched after it is written - and other backups should be maintained with greater frequency on one or more other drives.
You can get a bit of compromise with an incremental backup, like what Time Machine does. That will keep old data as long as there's still free space on the drive, then will start removing the oldest copies of files to make space for newer stuff when necessary. Another alternative is the way Carbon Copy Cloner does incremental backups, where the data keeps piling up until the drive is full and then the backups fail until you remedy the situation. (This could allow you to fill up a drive and then put it on a shelf as an archival backup and start a new backup on a new drive.)
If you can specify more what you want to do, we can advise you better.

  • IMac 2011 and Windows XP. Everything works fine. Little problem there.

    Everything works fine.
There is one small problem. The sound is not connected to external speakers.
The sound remains on the built-in speakers.
Here we can see, SPDIF shines red light.
    Does anyone solved this problem?

All drivers and devices were installed correctly
Sorry, I write this from iPad, it works not very good.

  • Why won't the patch to update my Acrobat 10.1.11 to 10.1.12 work? - it keeps saying there is a problem and rolling back to 10.1.11

I use Windows 7 Professional. I have been informed that I need to update my Acrobat 10.1.11 to 10.1.12 but each time I try I am told that there is a problem and I should contact my patch supplier! My patch supplier is Adobe but there is no way of asking them for help. What should I do? Do I need to completely remove Adobe Acrobat 10.1.11 and then re-intsall from the DVD and then try again or should I just leave my existing version 10.1.11 which works fine??

Hi Hitender This is a copy of the message I have sent you by other means so those with the same problem can follow progress in sorting out this problem.
I regret the file you mention is not on my C Drive.
I have sent you a screen print of what is there and you will see the nearest file to the one you speak about is msvcr100.dll.
Also when I went to Control Panel and selected the program menu and then selected the Acrobat X Pro, the only options are Organise, Uninstall or Change. But not Repair??
Thanks for your continued support – i hope we get it sorted.

  • Bluetooth speakers won't connect with new Macbook Pro

I just sold my Macbook Pro (mid 2012 release) and purchased the brand new lighter, faster Macbook Pro Retina display that was just released a couple of weeks ago (Mid 2014).
There are a host of things this new Pro can't/won't do (which I didn't know upon purchasing it), but my question right now is: why won't my bluetooth speakers (which worked great with my other Macbook Pro) properly connect/work with my new one?  The bluetooth recognizes the speakers--it says they're there in the bluetooth set up--but they don't work, nor do they show up in my sound options (In my system preferences, only the internal speakers are listed as available output devices).  Why would they be visible but not able to be connected?
Is there a fix?  Can I get my bluetooth speakers to work?  Or are these more things (along with my Apple Remote) that I have to scrap?
    Thanks!

Me three.  Does not work at all, extremely frustrating for an educator who relies heavily on this technology

  • My iPod nano's bluetooth won't connect with my Macbook Pro after pairing, why?

Just purchased a new 7th generation iPod nano, synced it up to my iTunes account using the cable and charged it fully.
All working fine, except for when I tried to then connect it via bluetooth.
My Macbook Pro (which also has all the latest updates) was able to discover my iPod and when prompted to pair I did so and was presented with a code to verify on my iPod nano's screen. I clicked to confirm, and that is where the journey stopped.
when I try to connect it tells me it has failed and asks if it is within range, when it was sat an inch away.
I have tried reseting the iPod, forgetting the connection and pairing again several times, and tried to pair and connect whilst the cable was attached.
I'm assuming it's the iPod that is at fault as my mouse is fine.
I have run out of ideas.

Just sync, I'm not sure what else it is suppose to be able to do as I am yet to achieve a connection.
I am assuming it should be able to sync my library, playlists, etc.

  • FaceTime won't connect to another MacBook Pro?

My husband and I have our three iPhones and my MacBook Pro connected under the same iCloud account. He recently bought his own MacBook Pro so we could FaceTime computer to computer rather than him using a phone while he is overseas. He can call from his phone to my computer and to my phone, but any calls going to or from his computer fails (some will come up on either end and some won't). He tried creating a completely new iCloud account as well since maybe it was trying to call itself, but that didn't change anything. We tried completely separating our numbers on the different devices so mine all had the same numbers/emails associated and his had only his so they didn't overlap, but that didn't seem to work either. Anyone have this problem and find a solution?

    Hello jdbeadle,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
I found the following support article that has some troubleshooting steps for resolving these connection issues with FaceTime for Mac:

  • HT3624 I am in a campground and my wireless internet won't connect on my MacBook Pro. Help

I am in a campground and I can't get the wireless internet to work it worked before now it doesn't. I think
I did something and messed it up. I was in the network area of system profiler and it was on
air port and I hit the - at the bottom and it went away when I put it back it hasn't worked
    since. Help!

I was in a hotel a few month a ago.  The hotel also had a portal page you have to sign in.  Of course the ATV didn't a web browser and could not sign in to the portal and connect to the Internet, so your iTunes didn't work.  (But your ATV should be connected to the router at that point already, just the portal won't open the port to pass through your ATV's traffic)
So what I did was to use AirVideo app on my iPad and AirVideo server on my Mac. Selected the movie on  my iPad using the AirVideo app and then selected my AirPlay device on my iPad to AppleTV.  Because this setup didn't require iTunes, so there was no need for a live Internet connection, and just a connection to the hotel router was enough.  It was very easy.
(Of course, you can subsititude the iPad with an iPhone here too)
