My Alerts slow to open page

Hello,
About a month ago when opening 'My alerts' the page would open in less than five seconds. Now it take around 45-60 seconds to open.
I first noticed this on my work computer on IE then on Chrome. Next I tried opening 'My alerts' on my home computer (both IE and Chrome) which is a completely different location and Internet provider. Both environments and browsers exhibit the same
behavior of taking a long time to open 'My alerts'.
Also please note that opening 'My Threads' or 'My forums' opens under five seconds so it's just 'My alerts' taking along time to open.
So I am wondering if this is something to do with my account or are others having the same issue.

Kevin, this is still an issue for you?

Hello Ed,
I would say this is still an issue even thou my work-around is to use compatibility mode. I have to remember to use compatibility mode then once on the alert page displays toogle out of compatibiity mode so the CSS is properly applied.
Also I noticed this morning (I forget to use compatibilty mode) that the hang up is with Live.com as I noticed a message in IE status bar indicating it was waiting for Live.com.
Just tried using Chrome on another computer, got "Internal Server Error" on My alerts then did a refresh and My alerts came up. It took about 60 seconds for the error page to appear.
Now if this is a true oddity that has no seeable resolution I will call this resolved and use the work-around.

    Hi,
I have been having similar problems as you. These problems began to raise its ugly head about a month or so ago.
I have found that using add to iCloud is not working. Constantly sticks at sending info and things work when I stop process then select update match. I have opted to use update option immediately after adding new tracks and seems to work most times.
However, I have been encountering problems recently when the process sticks with a few tracks still outstanding. I believe the problem occurs when the process has been interrupted and the tracks have partially been processed. To correct this problem, I have to open another library where I can see the music that's been matched or uploaded. The tracks causing the problem are greyed out. I delete those tracks and go back to my main library where the I cloud status is shown as "removed". I had previously tried to delete those tracks from my main library and readd them but this did not work because of the partially processed tracks.
I have previously been able to resolve most issues by holding shift (PC) / option key (Mac) whilst turning off match  then turning back on. Unfortunately I seem to be using this option more frequently recently.

  • Macbook Air slow in opening pages

    macbookAir slow in opening pages

    Where abouts?
The actual app Pages or web pages?
might be worth checking your DNS settings in System Preferences > Network > Advanced > TCP/IP(DNS) and making sure they're correct, or you could manually put in google's own 8.8.8.8 (primary) 8.8.4.4 (Secondary)
and seeing if that makes a difference.
Could try clearing your cookies/history/saved stuff in whatever browser you're using.
if all that fails, try flushing your cache.
Open Terminal (Applications > utilities > Terminal.app )  and type in:
    dscacheutil -flushcache
hit return and maybe even try a reboot.
the other option is, you just have slow internet?
if it's pages.app, it's a case of how old is your machine? how much ram? if your hard drive ok? does it meet the system requirements?
    Hope this helps!

  • Why is the macbook so slow at opening pages on the internet ?, Why is the macbook so slow at opening pages on the internet ?

Just got my Macbook this week and was looking forward to the "lightening" fast MAc I had heard of. It is not so ! My old PC wa faster an cost about a quarter of the price !! Am I doing something wrong ?

How much RAM do you have?  Is it maxed out?  MBP faster when not on the net?
Which browser & version are you using?  Could be a browser you're having?
Update your OS.  Your system profile confirms you are still using OS 10.8.  Use the App Store to see if there is any other software you need to install.
MBP slow wireless and/or through ethernet?
Any devices connected to your MBP?
Remember, you are still under warranty.  Take full advantage of it before you lose it!
You have 14 days to return the computer w/no questions asked.  Plus you have 90 days of FREE phone tech support on top of your standard 1 year warranty unless you also purchased AppleCare which gives you an additional 2 years of coverage plus FREE phone support.
Strongly suggest that you take FULL advantage of the above before it runs out.  Let Apple deal w/the problems.

  • Pages on my iPad3 has become very slow to open documents after upgrading to ios7. I've clicked on a folder 5 minutes ago and am still waiting. The work-around seems to be to force-close it, but I've needed to do this many times in the last few days.

Pages on my iPad3 has become very slow to open documents after upgrading to ios7.
I posted on here about this a few weeks back and someone suggested force-closing Pages -- and that does indeed enable me to open things -- but I have had to force-close many times in the last 24 hours, which is worrying. Are there any other suggestions?
I am sometimes also finding that, when I have been writing something and then click on "documents" the screen goes blank, there is a wait of around a minute and then the same document is re-displayed, before clicking "documents" again lets me look at other documents -- which is a pain if I am trying to move between documents repeatedly. Again, words of wisdom on this would be great.
Pages under iOS6 opened quickly, and there was an immediate loss of performance when I upgraded. I am finding this very frustrating because I don't feel that the new Pages has added to the facilities I was using, but a slowness to open documents is frustrating.
    Thanks

  • Why does my firefox start page keep opening in a foreign language, no matter how many times i have uninstalled and reinstalled the US English version? also, why is it so slow to open, if it opens at all now?

it wants me to believe it's opening in Spanish, but that is not the language that appears on the start page, looks like it might be German? also, since i have reinstalled, mozilla/firefox is extremely slow to open, if, in fact, it opens at all. if i stop the process, and then proceed to open something else via the toolbar, i.e., aol mail, etc., i get to where i need to be.

If the Google (Firefox) or Yahoo home page is in the wrong language then see:

  • Firefox 12 is very slow to load pages and if two tabs are opening it lags.

Firefox 12 is very slow to load pages and if two tabs are opening it lags. I've tried everything (e.g virus, defrag, I've created a new profile in "run", etc). I've had my router/line etc all checked and after 2 weeks of cleaning/testing etc its all pointing to Firefox as the problem. Please help as it's driving me nuts.

I have the exact same problem.
Not only does it load pages very slowly, sometimes the page will stop for a good 45 seconds and stop loading, only to finish it much later.
Something is wrong with Firefox 12, it shouldn't be this slow.
How is that each version is progressively worse than the one before it?.
Stop releasing so many versions Mozilla, release one that works and build from there.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus N911g Devices and Printers Page Is Slow to Open

Hello, I have HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus, model N911g, installed as a wireless printer.  I have Windows 7 64-bit.  My Devices and Printers page takes over two minutes to open.  While I am waiting, if I go to Print Spooler Services and click Restart, the page opens right away.  Once the page is open, in the HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus device, I ran Troubleshooter and it took about 1/2 hour to finish, and it reported and supposedly fixed a problem in the Print Spooler service.  The assigned Port looks like a recovered port.  However, if I restart the PC and try to open Devices and Printers again, the delay is still present.  I had trouble installing the HP program including the Scan to PC functionality, because response time was so slow.  Now it's installed and working, but the HP program is quite slow to open.  The spinning circle spins and then stops, almost like it has given up opening the program. Then several minutes later the program opens or the requested action begins.

Check the document I linked below. Step 6 might be the solution you are looking for but it will not hurt to start from the top.

I want to buy MBA 11'' which model is good.  i.e.  i need speed.  I am using Lenovo netbook s-10. Is very slow in opening web pages an also in operating other apps.

Put your first emphasis on memory. Don't even consider 2 GB.
Second, maximize your SSD size according to the ability of your wallet. Lastly is your processor.
For what you describe the MBA is plenty fast.

  • Pages slow to open, any suggestions?

When I open a Pages document it takes quite a while to launch the application.
I've tried deleting the Pages preference file. The first couple times opening Pages after that were fast... and then it went back to being slow. Anybody have any suggestions for me?
    Thanks,
    ~Ignolopi

A very efficient way to slowdown Pages is to activate the feature "Display the true fonts in the fonts menu".
Disable it would fasten the process.
Often, the Fonts folder contain a huge number of fonts which are never used.
A bit of careful cleaning would fasten the beast too.

  • HT1338 Error message : "Failed to open page" - Slow & failed loading online pages

Lately I've been experiencing slow loading pages when I go online using Safari (that's all I usually use). Everything is updated. I often get the "Failed to open page" because it doesn't always even load. It stays blank for sooooo long then error messages appear "Failed...." Plenty of memory. Even while I type this the wheel begins to spinn, making me wait before I can complete this form. What can I do next? I use iCloud these days. Before iCloud I didn't have this problem, could there be a connection?

If your Safari won't open, one or more of the following procedures should fix it:
    1. Go to Home/Library/Safari/ folder and remove the following two files:
    ¥ history.plist
    ¥ lastsession.plist
(Safari may not load properly If these two files are corrupted.)
    2. Go to Home/Library/Caches/Metadata/Safari/ and remove the contents of that folder.
(These are just webhistory files and are not required for Safari to run. However, similar to preference files, problems can arise if they have become corrupt.)
    3. Locate the cookies.plist file that's located in the Home/Library/Cookies/ folder and remove it.
(Again, faults in stored cookies may interfere with Safari's launch.)
    4. Check whether any of your third-party internet plug-ins may be interfering with the launch of Safari by carefully moving them to the desktop (do NOT delete them at this stage). You can find these in two places:
Home/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ folder, and Global plug-ins are located in the Macintosh HD/Library/Internet Plug-ins/ folder.
Also look in Library/Input Managers where other third party add-ons may lurk. If you find a SIMBL folder, please note that some SIMBLE.bundles may require updating or possibly removal.
Restart Safari and place them back in the correct folders, one at a time, closing and re-opening Safari each time. If you discover that one of them was causing the problem with launching Safari, trash it and download and install a fresh copy.

  • Slow in opening up web pages?

    Hi,
Not sure why, my N900 seems to be pretty slow in opening up web pages.  The home screen says that I am on 3.5G.  At times the page wouldn't even get loaded (white screen or connection error).
To test if it is due to bad coverage, I pull out the SIM card and put it back to my N97.  And the web pages seem to load a lot faster (and smoother).  This is strange.  Is there some settings I need to fiddle with?  I have tried changing the memory cache size from 5MB up but the improvement does not seem to be consistant.  Now, I set the cache to auto.
Any help would be great.  Thanks.

there is an app which gives you control over the 2/3G networks but i live in a 2G area so i didn't download it and i'm not sure how much control it offers. i can't remember what it was called or where it was but i think it was on www.maemo.org but if i find it again i'll post you a link but in the mean time all i can suggest is clearing the private data which should help just make sure that the saved passwords is de selected
if you've always had this problem and this may sound stupid but i can be in a 3G area in my local town with a full signal and suffer the same problem yet if i go to the northern end of the town it works fine and my network provider vodafone say its interference from the buildings even tho the highest building only has 4 floors so you could just be in one of these spots

  • Pages 09 slow to open documents on iPhone 4

    Hi
I've got iWork on my iPhone 4 and my iPad 2, as well as iWork 09 on Mountain Lion. I notice when I open a pages file on my iPhone, after it's been created on Mountain Lion and synced with iCloud, it is slow to load. This is after it gives a message about it looking different on iOS compared to my Mac. It then asks me if I want use "Open Copy" instead.
Is the slowness of opening the document due to some conversion? Is there a way of making the Pages documents load faster in some way and can this apply to the rest of iWork as well?
    Thanks

    Hey Ben Gunn,
Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, multiple apps will not open or access the internet. I would recommend that you read these articles, they may be helpful in troubleshooting your issue.
