My app store will not let me get apps. When I enter my ID information, it says "This Apple ID cannot be used for the iTunes Store. Please enter another Apple ID." it worked this morning. What do I do?

I tried it this morning to download Twitter and it worked just fine. I also was able to download other apps before school. Now I'm trying to download a few Christmas apps and it won't work at all. I tried other apps thinking maybe it was just the certain app and none of them are able to be downloaded. I cannot figure out what to do. I have restarted my phone, changed my password, logged out and back into my account and nothing is working. What do I need to do to get it to work?

I went into settings, iTunes & App Store and tapped on my appleID, then signed out. I went back into the App Store on my phone and tried to download the app and then signed in again, and it worked!
Apple is looking into the issue> as I was told by the tech support!

Where are you physically located?
What country's Store are you using?
The two have to be the same and the payment method for your account also has to be associated (billing address, where iTunes gift card was purchased) with that country.
Has the ID(s) worked before for purchases for this country's store?

HT2589 ibooks still gives me the following error message "This Apple ID cannot be used for the iTunes Store."

I've done all of the above suggested sign in methods, and yet ibooks gives me the following error message "This Apple ID cannot be used for the iTunes Store."

Found this in the forums here, it works.
"OK...I think I have found a solution. In settings, select tunes & app store. click on Apple ID> View Apple ID>Payment Information. It appears it is not saving or requiring payment information to be updated. This worked for me."

Reports are that this is a problem with the iTunes Store that they're working on. Some people have had success after signing out of their account and back in. If that doesn't work for you, wait a few hours or perhaps until tomorrow and by then they may have the problem sorted out.

I have been struggling with this for about twenty minutes, and I have a SOLUTION!!
Change your password. Yes, it's as simple as that.
I could not log into my itunes at all. I tried to make a purchase and it told me that my apple ID could not be used in the itunes store, and to use another apple ID. No. So, I went into apple.com and signed in there. Changed my password, security questions and everything. Now, I have been able to restore my apple ID and buy a few songs and so forth.
You are welcome for this simple fix.

Changing the password works for some people but not all. This is reportedly a problem with the iTunes Store that they are aware of and working on.

I have had this same issue but thankfully fixed it. Follow he steps below:
Sync your iPhone with you iTunes therefore your info is backed up. Unplug your phone.
Go to Settings > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings
Once your phone has reset and come back on answer the question until it asks if you want to back up from itunes Click this then plug your phone in.
After everything has sync'd back to your phone everything should work fine.

I have the same issue. I try to download an app from the App store on my iPhone 5, and just says that I can not use that user ID to purchase from iTunes. I saw a couple of threads that this might be an apple issue? Not sure though.

Tap AppleID, sign out then sign back in.
The Apple ID is right everywhere else. I've synced the phone. I've reset it in Settings on the phone. I've changed it at Apple.

When I try and use my Apple ID to setup the free find my account on MobileMe I get this error after I hit the OK on the pop that reads Terms of service have changed.

I'm having the same issue with my iPad. I also used to have MobileMe, but cancelled. I seem to have two Apple ID's with the same email address. One Apple ID is not an email, the other Apple ID is my email address. They have different passwords and I can manage both. My iTunes Store one is the one without the email address. I had to use the email address Apple ID for Game Room.
I am in Live Chat Support with Apple right now.

How do I change my apple account on my iPhone for the iTunes Store?

I changed the name of my apple id and now when I try to connect to download from iTunes on my iPhone it just shows the old account name. Ive been into settings for iTunes on my phone but there's no delete option (as with icloud) and I can't change the name manually when it asks for I'd and password .... can anyone help please?!

I want to get 2 updates iPhoto and iMovie that are available and can't get past the requirement to add a payment source. I've gone through the process several times and will get a successful and then unsuccessful. The 1st note I get is that it hasn't been used for the iTunes store, which I never use....so frustrated.

Problem resolved. Learned from a tech that I could choose "none", which is grey in the choices. Did that and was able to then get my available free updates. I didn't want to set up a prepaid account and didn't have to. Seems to be a glitch in the system but I'm done with that on.
