First go here - https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/ and login under the manage tab. Check your information and be sure it is all correct.
An AppleID is nothing more than an email address, so if you see another email address in the store, then someone has logged in with a different AppleID than yours. Did you let someone else use your iPhone?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)

When asked to type in my Apple ID it uses a email address that is not mine but is one of my contacts, I cannot access itunes as this is not my email address, this happened after I updated my phone on my Mac computer. How do I get this email address off so I can use my Apple ID ?

Contacts are seeing my email address and not my name when texting.
Two to three days ago my 4s has started sending out text messages with my email instead of my phone number. It is confusing when your friends do not have your email address under their contacts and they have no idea who it is. Also, I am receiving text messages under emails instead of the contact name. Yesterday it deleted all my contacts then put them back on. We upgraded my Mac to Lion a couple of days ago and I do not know if their is any correlation. I am starting to get really aggravated.
Oh and this is what I have done:
I went to messages and it is forcing me to start new messages from my email and not my phone number.You also may have to look at your iPhone 5s too...
Settings---> Messages---> Send & Receive---> (make sure your phone number is selected) as well as the (start new convo from)
If for some reason you can't select your phone number on your phone. Follow these instructions...
Turn off iMessages.
Click Home key Sleep/Wake key at the same time until the phone reboots. About 20 seconds or so.
Return to the iMessages and turn it back on.
After that, you should be able to select your phone number.

First, I presume you're buying for yourself, not gifts for others, correct? Gifts cannot be purchased using a credit balance. If you are buying for yourself, another user in the forums posted this as the reply from the iTunes Store when this issue was brought up. Perhaps it will help you. Regards.
I'm sorry you weren't able to make a purchase using your store credit. To purchase items on the iTunes Store with your store credit, your account information in your user profile needs to be corrected. I'll walk you through this process to get you back up and running in no time.
1) Visit the My Apple ID website at: http://appleid.apple.com
2) If the site is not displayed in your preferred language, click the Change Language link in the upper-right corner, type the name of your language in the field that appears, then click the Save button.
3) Click the "Manage your account" link.
4) Type your iTunes Store account name (which is your Apple ID) in the Apple ID field, type your password in the password field, then click the Sign In button.
5) Click "Addresses" in the column on the left. If you have multiple shipping addresses, remove any out-of-date or duplicate addresses by clicking Delete. Also, make sure the state or province field is filled out correctly for each address. To edit an address, click Edit. Edit all of your shipping addresses and make sure the appropriate state is selected in the State drop-down menus.
6) Now click "Phone Numbers" on the left. The area codes should be in the area code fields and the phone numbers should be in the phone number fields. If an area code is missing, or if it is in a phone number field, your account information may not save properly.
7) Make any other necessary corrections, then click the Save Changes button.
8) Click Log out in the upper-right corner. When you make your next purchase on the iTunes Store, you will be asked to review your billing information. At this point, you can change your information or simply click Done at the bottom of the screen to proceed. Can i just show the pop-menu gif and not the links when sending to a printer?

I tried to use my iphone to buy app. But it always showed difference apple ID. Not my apple. Therefore I can not buy app. I dont know how to fix it.
What id shows at the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store app on your phone ? If it's not your id then tap on it and log out of it and you can then log in with your id.
If you have any apps or other content from the id that is currently showing then that content will be tied to that id e.g. only that account will be able to download updates to its apps and make in-app purchases in those apps -

ThanksIf having reset your password it now works on your computer's iTunes but not your phone then try logging out of your account on the phone by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Stores on and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' the account on it

Whenever I try to buy a song or app, my AppleID always asks me two security questions (Childhood Nickname and Favourite Teacher) but I never told it to. So I don't know the answers. Any suggestions? Can I reset it somehow?

i've restarted everytihng SO many times, have taken out all other usb connections, apart from the ipad. my itunes on the mac pro is 10.6.3 and there are no latest updates for my mac pro. Got so close with upgrading the ipad software but then got a message saying "couldn't locate the device" so tried the recommended routes but cant even get the update to start now. many thanks, k x

When I try to buy or update apps, myipad asks me for a password using SOMEONE ELSE'S apple ID, which prevents me from buying/updating apps. But when I am buying songs on itunes, the ipad asks me for my password using MY OWN apple ID and everything works fine. HOW DO I GET MY IPAD TO REQUEST MY PASSWORD USING MY OWN apple ID WHEN I AM BUYING OR UPDATING APPS?
The apps you are trying to update were purchased with (and therfore permanently linked to) someone elses Apple ID. If you do not know the password then you need to delete the app and redownload/purchase it with your Apple ID.
