Battery stopped charging when Satellite C connected to the mains
My battery has stopped charging when I plug my laptop into the mains. It continues to lose battery life until there is zero charge and then shuts down. Only then will it let me re-charge the battery.
The only other option i seem to have is to switch my computer off, shut down all documents and leave it for 15 minutes before plugging into the mains.
This is obviously very disruptive! Can anyone help?
Many thanks
MarcHi
Im not quite sure whats wrong with your notebook
Are you able to use the notebook without plugged in battery but connected to the mains?
If the AC adaptor is ok, you should be able to use the notebook connected to the mains only
Lets assume the AC adaptor is ok in such case either the battery or the power supply electronic which is part of the motherboard may malfunction
Its difficult to say if your battery is faulty this needs to be tested but I think its not worth to purchase a new battery just for testing purposes therefore I would ask an technician to check this before buying a new part.
PS: is your BIOS up to date? -
Hi, my system runs on windows 8 on hp laptop envy series. All of a sudden, system event log on service stopped, errors which prevented the system to log on services. It displayed error of STOP 0xC000021A when i use system restore to roll back to previous
configuration. Also when I tried to refresh my pc, it says i can't do changes as log in was switched to prevent the changes by notification.I don't know what to do next, I tried to put recovery dvds which I made when system was bought, now not at all working.
Internet is not active, not able to resolve by trouble shooting and system taking lot of time to get dsktop. Previously I used to get my desktop in 10 seconds. Now its 10 min. May be I m infected with virus. My files, they are there. I tried to transfer some
files by pendrive to another system, now the new system(where i put my files in another system) crashed, windows 7 system which does not display desktop, icons etc and not at all workable.
Also in my hp system, i m unable to open control panel. if its opened, it will not go off, when i use task manager, it says explorer and shuts down. I had to force restart the system. Please resolve something to get my hp laptop workable. I m waiting for
my MS thesis to be working on that. My files are locked and no way to transfer, I fear of infected by virus to another computer also.
Pls give instructions to hw to set my hp laptop at the earliest without losing any of the files. Idon't want to reinstall and lose all the data for timebeing. Else, inform me the option for copying data safely. I tried to change the adv startup and recovery
by changing the boot sequence by DVD but this also shows error 0xC000021A and asks us to see the details. I didn't understand all this. Pls help asap.
Thanks
venkata
STOP 0xC000021AMV
If you can boot either from the win 8 dvd or in safe mode we need the DMP files
We do need the actual DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.
WE NEED AT LEAST TWO DMP FILES TO SPOT TRENDS AND CONFIRM THE DIAGNOSIS.
Please follow our instructions for finding and uploading the files we need to help you fix your computer. They can be found here
If you have any questions about the procedure please ask

Help! My iPhone 5 has recently started to "die" at about 20 or 30% battery depending on where I am or how cold it is (i.e.it doesnt seem to die as fast with Wifi in my apartment but will drain so quickly and die at 40% battery life when i am at work. So today, my battery died at 56% YES 56%!!! GRRRRR. I have tried everything online articles tell you to do in order to conserve battery life. Also, our chargers have all gone caput this past week. I believe it is the adaptor as when the cord plugs into the computer it will charge. WT? All our apple products have gone berzurk this last week and I beg for an answer!! The phone is over one year old, along with one charger. But the other TWO chargers were purchased recently and they all stopped this week. Any guidance or help with fixing this the most cost effective way would be much appreciated!
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
Everything that cames in the box is included in the 1year warranty, unfortunately you're just outside of that warranty. Regardless, if the above troubleshooting does not resolve, take the device to Apple and they can determine if the issue is the device, the charger(s) or something else. -
Battery charger does not stop charging when battery is full
On my G4 laptop, the battery continues to charge even after the battery is obviously full charged. Also, the battery life indicator in the menu always says "calculating" rather than giving me the remaining time left on the charge.
I've tried two different batteries, and I've reset the PMU.
Any ideas or help with this problem?
Thanks!I have the same thing happening to me. My indicator at the top right of my screen shows the plug sign at 99% or 100& but the amber ring doesn't change to green. After a while the symbol changers to charge but the ring remains amber no matter what the symbol indicates. I've also reset the PMU. Waht worries me is that something is wrong. Should I ignore the improper amber ring color?

4s Battery Stops Charging at 100%
Since I got my 4s on Friday it's happened pretty regularly.
I place my phone on my charger at night right before bed. In the morning when I wake I check the phone and it's charged to 100%. If I leave it on the charger though and check back in an hour or two I notice that the battery begins to discharger (or simply that it no longer is being charged.) The last three days when I've taken the phone off the charger the battery has been at 96%, 98% and 92%.
I'm starting to wonder if this is an intended feature meant to stop the phone from being overcharged, a bug with iOS 5 or a defect with my phone. I'm doubting it's the later since I've heard from a few people already who are exepriecning the same issue.paulcb wrote:
It's not supposed to do that. The device will stop charging when it reaches 100% but it should not go down if still plugged in. Your battery meter may be off... try this... fully discharge (till it shuts off) and then fully recharge (100%) the battery to recalibrate the battery meter.
My observation is that the iPad charger output is reduced at 95 and stopped at 100%, the battery is allowed to discharge from 100 to approx 95% and then power is applied, this is identical to the behavior of a modern Mac portable with a magsafe charger. It's just like any other feedback system, actions taken by the supply (charger) are predicated on the behavior of the load (battery)
I would not be surprised to see the same behaviour on the iPod and iPhone. -
I know that it is not good to leave batteries on charge after it's being fully charged becasue it reduces it's life span (the chemical reaction stuffs up...)
Anyway, I heard that some people were saying that it is ok to leave the Mac plugged in even after it's being fully charged, because the battery stops consuming power from the adapter automatically. Is this true?
Another question. How ofter you do guys charge your MBP? I have to charge mine once every day pretty much. It's a reletively new computer (i bought it on april). But now it looks like it's not even lasting 5 hours sometimes. I think I asked this before as well. But I'm still stressing about this.ALL Li-ion batteries stop charging when they are full. They have an internal micro-controller to enforce this.
I run my MBP down to about 20% charge left and then recharge on a daily basis. The run time depends on what you are doing. Heavy usage will reduce the run time. Flash web sites, playing movies, maximum screen intensity, bluetooth on are all examples of things that will reduce run time.
Think of a battery like a bucket of water. If you let the water trickle out it will take a long time to empty the bucket. If you turn the bucket upside down it will be empty in a few seconds.
In other words a battery holds a fixed amount of energy. The rate at which you discharge it will determine the run time. As the battery ages the amount of energy that it can hold will go down. The battery will age whether or not you use it. Regular usage will give the longest overall life for the battery. -
MBP battery will not charge when playing games.
I have a late 2011 15-inch MacBook Pro and have had upgraded 16GB RAM for two years.
An avid Sims 3 player, I have 6 expansion packs and play regularly. I have never had a problem with playing on my MBP.
I had to get a new charger in December and got an Apple certified 60W MagSafe charger for $40 (has serial number, designed in CA, assembled in China, Apple logo, everything). I purchased another one for my Sims-playing roommate as well.
Ever since I've had a new charger my MBP immediately stops charging when I load up the game, and from there the battery life depletes despite staying green. I know that The Sims 3 draws a lot of power, but I have never had a problem with charging while playing. My roommate has an older MBP, even more expansion packs for Sims 3, and yet the same charger that I got for her works fine while playing.
Is it my charger, battery, hardware, or what that is not allowing me to play?
Thanks! Some of the heavy gamers do feel the Windows machines are better suited since they can go to the high-end video/graphics support. But, as you say, that is a big extra expense. If you are not into that kind of high-end gaming the Mac is fine, the 2011 MBP is a great machine. I've been using this one since it came out and it is rock solid.
But I don't put a heavy load on it in the gaming area. I run FORTRAN scientific codes which are heavy loads on the CPU, but not the GPU so there is not that added electrical demand.
An external graphics card does not seem like a real need to me, especially since you would probably then be looking at another monitor, also. If you are not having any system issues beyond the 60 w charger being undersized, why mess around more than you have to?
Just my two cents -

It depends on the original format and the destination format of the file.

Does battery stop charging automatically
Hello,
I like to keep my laptop plugged in while using it. Does the battery stop charging when it is full? What is the best way to use the laptop. Leave it plugged in when you can, or always run on battery?

Hi there, I updated my BIOS on my T530 to the latest version yesterday(2.54).
Today I turned on my ThinkPad on the battery, and then plugged it in immediately realizing it was unplugged, after doing so I got this message on the screen. Turning the laptop off, and back on works fine, and I don't receive any messages.
Sorry this picture is so blurry, that's the best my phone can do ..

Is this just a BIOS glitch, or is my AC adapter failing?
Here are my specs if it is any help

Go to Solution.I've had this happen to my W520 too; plugging in the adapter during POST. I wouldn't worry much about it; it's probably just confusing the laptop a little bit.
