To try and resolve the issue, you will want to confirm that the inkjet nozzles are dispensing the ink correctly by printing a nozzle check pattern from the printer. If the pattern does not print correctly, we recommend performing at least one cleaning and two deep cleanings on the printer to try and get the ink to print.. Printer connected, printer works, but won't print from Mac

I'm helping someone with a printer problem, and I have a mystery on my hands.
The printer is connected (directly), shows up in the printer list, can print a test page, but won't print any document from this computer (it's fine from my laptop).
It's a Mid-2011 Mini, 2.3Ghz, running 10.7.5. The printer is an Epson WF-2540.
This is a USB printer, connected directly to their Mac.
In "Settings", when you select Print/FAX and print a "Test Page" - Success! This is a process that invokes the Epson Driver directly [and bypasses the MAC print queuing mechanism]
When "Printing" from within any application (firefox, TextEdit, winders...)   The job starts to queue, but errors before engaging the printer.
R & R the Epson Drivers, Clear the Printer "stuff" on the Mac, Reinstall drivers from the Epson website, Mac wants to update the "newest" Epson Drivers (kinda' funny when I think about it...).
Still errors.
I attached directly to a USB port on my MacBook Pro. Download drivers, etc.. Works like a champ!
We have deleted the printer from System Prefs, rebooted, and added it back.
We have even gone into Terminal and...
sudo bash
cd /etc/cups/ppd
ls
found EPSON_WF_2540_Series.ppd
cp * /var/tmp/
ls /var/tmp/*.ppd
rm /etc/cups/ppd/*
Still doesn't work.
Anybody have any suggestions?

Hi, it's not clear... did you Rest the Printing system on the Mac?

In System Preferences>Fax & Print, Right click or Control+click on the Printers list Sidebar, choose Reset Printing System.
if you hold option and click the "-" tab it resets the printing system.

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions.
Any devices that previously appeared in your Printer List and Fax List will need to be added again after resetting the printing system.

HP C7250 has all colors of ink but won't print in color

My HP C7250 shows that all ink levels are OK on the display, but it won't print in color becasue it says tht the Cyan cartridge is low. I recently replaced the Cyan cartidge with a new one and the display shows that the ink level is full, but when i go to print I get a message that the ink level for Cyan is still low.
The printer is out of warranty. Anyone have an idea of how i can get this printer to print in color again?
I have tried reinstalling the catridge, and the same thing happens.

I know this was a while ago, but did you resolve it easily? Mine has full colors, including cyan at 80%. It won't use the cyan for color printing at all, so all the colors are off. I think I have to chagne teh printhead since I've already cleaned them and changed the ink cartridge. Just curious. Thanks.

i have checked for drivers on the cannon wed site and was told there is no driver for my mac. the printer is recognized by the computer and is listed as hardware but won't print. Any suggestions ????

There is nothing you can do if there is no printer driver available.
You can check Gutenprint Supported Printers for a driver if they have one.

Hi, I used the Mac setup instructions, not the PC ones. The printer was automatically recognised in print and scan when I connected it with a USB cable. I accessed the server's web-based page and followed all the instructions, but still no joy. Thanks for the tip about posting. I have just posted in the section you suggested, so let's see what happens. From a quick scan around the apple forums, lost of other people seem to having precisely the same problem (and not just with HP printers!), but unfortunately, no-one seems to be offering a solution! And trying to get through to the apple online support is a complete waste of time. They've been 'not available' for two days now. Christmas/New Year shutdown, I suppose. Thanks for all your help, though!

My iPad shows my Photosmart 7510 but won't print. I've disconnected and reconnected printer, turned iPad off and on. My computer communicates well wirelessly with the printer. Troubleshoot further?

I would try a hard reset on the iPad.
To do so, hold both the home button and sleep button down at the same time.
Keep holding them until the device restarts and you see the Apple logo.
Once you see the Apple logo, you can go ahead and release the buttons.
Once the iPad is booted back up, try to print to your 7510 again.
Let know if that helps resolve your issue or not.

Photosmart C4680 has ink but prints only a blank page

I have just installed this printer on my Mac PPC computer, using OS X 10.4.11. I downlaoded and installed the proper driver and software for it from HP. All is running, and appears as it should -- except nothing prints out, no ink being put on the page, but a blank page.
The utility says there is ink in the cartridges, although low, in both in color and in black cartridges.
I get no print even when not hooked to my computer, simply using the Copy function. I get no print when printing from a file. All I get is a blank page.
If I scan, it does scan the page fine, and opens it on my monitor -- but if I send that to printer, it prints a blank.
I have run the cartridge cleaning operation three times now. No difference. I tried the alignment, but find that to do it, it first has to be able to print something!
I am using the right driver. All seems to function fine -- except all prints are just a blank. Again, the utility says I do have ink in both cartridges. Yes, it is set up properly in my System Preferences -- all the setup is fine. It seems to be fully accessible and fully functions -- except It just isn't putting out any ink.
So, what is wrong here, what do I need to do?

Since I posted nearly a year ago, I learned about HP. It seems HP is the worst for rejecting generic ink cartridges. From what I learned, HP does something in its chip that prevents it from being reset, as chips for other brands can be. As such, generic cartridges have to have the original chip replaced. Because of patent issues, they can't make the chip exactly as HP does. Thus, problems, as planned by HP to force you to buy their exhorbitantly high priced ink cartridges and exercise a monopoly.
I ended up getting rid of that machine -- and getting an Epson. Epson chips are easily reset, so the orignial chip can be used, and there is no problem with generic cartridges.
If you want to spluge the price of a HP brank cartridge, your machine should work. After going throhgh several generic cartridges, I found they worked at differing amounts, including not at all, but none printed for more than about a quarter of the cartridge. That is, even if you get a generic that works, it won't work for long.

The black ink cartridge is not empty but won't print.

On my Photosmart Plus B10, the black ink will not print. I was using an HP size 564 XL cartridge and I could hear the ink in it, so it wasn't empty. I cleaned the printhead and when that didn't work, I installed a new cartridge. Still won't print. The other three cartridges function properly. Willl I need to replace my printer because of this problem?

Hi, is the printer in warranty? If not, one thing worth a shot is soaking the printhead as described below....
1) Get a pan and put 1/2" of very hot (not boiling) water in the bottom.
2) Next remove all the ink cartridges, then remove the printhead assembly.
3) Gently put the printhead nozzles down in the water and let it soak for five minutes.
4) Remove the printhead and gently dry the electrical contacts.
5) Put the printhead back in the printer and then reinstall the ink cartridges.

Adobe reader shows text but won't print all the text

I have a form used by many and it works with no problem. Today one came in you could see all the text, but when printed, only some of the text appeared.
I checked it on 3 machines, also one that has Acrobat 9 on it, same results.
On the print setup, under comments and forms, I have Documents and Markup set, but if I click on "form field only" I do get the missing text.
As said we have gotten many forms from other people, no problems, so it really not for lack of knowing how to print it correctly.
The only print preview I can see I have is when I go to print it, it appears on the right, and it is missing the text there.
I have removed all name and address from the form for privacy reason, I did add my name in a few blocks and then saved it but it won't print that also.
for some reason only the top row under CPR AED and SFA print, but as you can see, there are a bunch that don't, along with all the names I removed.

Logo Won't print from PC but it will print from Mac?

At work, i have a PC and my coworker has a Mac. We work on projects back and forth in Indesign/photoshop often. When i go to print a PDF of the project, our company logo does not print. However, if she prints from her Mac, it does. The logo shows up in InDesign and Adobe reader before printing on my PC, but it will not be on the printed page. Any ideas as of why? Thank you!!

As far as posting the files, it's pretty much all of our marketing materials that have this issue. We make all of them in Indesign and then can't seem to print them from Acrobat on any PC...
I would like to think you are correct about the printing settings, i just wish i knew what settings could be off. We have mainly PC in the office, so it seems strange that the majority of our own computers won't print our own materials correctly, you know?

CUPS Network printer adds, but won't print...

My USB printer works fine, but my network printer is a much cheaper black and white laserjet that I normally print to. The problem is, I can add the printer just fine; the drivers and everything add just fine. When I go to actually print, I get the error message...
"Unable to locate printer '(enter printer name here)'".
The GNOME diagnostic tool recommends to go to System>Administration>Printing and enable it in the Policies tab, but every time I try that it almost immediately disables. The printer is a Brother HL-2170w, connected through our wireless network. This printer has worked with other distributions before, is there some user setting I'm missing?

Have you given your printer a static IP or dhcp reservation address?
I'm not really sure but isn't it just that your Arch setup doesn't have a way of resolving the printers hostname. The printer is using NetBIOS for broadcasting its name. I think you need a service on your arch setup that can resolve NetBIOS names or otherwise just use the printers IP.

You could set your system up to use avahi and then instead of the putting the printers ip you could use the resolved name. For example on my computer once the avahi daemon is running

then just use the BRN001BA903A786.local as the address
lpd://BRN001BA903A786.local/BINARY_P1

I would like to assist you today with resolving the issue that you're experiencing when trying to wirelessly print from your Windows 8.1 computer to your HP Officejet Pro 8625 e-All-in-One Printer. Thank you for including all of the troubleshooting steps you have attempted prior to reaching out for support. At this time I do not think the wireless printing issue that you're experiencing is being caused by your printer or your network connection. Rather, I believe the wireless printing issue is being caused by your Operating System.
Recently Microsoft has released a Hot Fix to correct network printing issues within their Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 Operating Systems. These wireless printing issues consist of 'partial printing' and 'offline' issues. The issues appear to affect multiple makes and models of wireless printers. Can I please have you click here to download the Hot Fix. Once the website opens please click the button for Hotfix Download Available. Please follow the onscreen prompts to install the Fix. Once the Fix has been installed please test printing again. If printing still fails you may need to restart your computer to allow the Hot Fix to take affect. Once your computer comes back on please test printing again.
