My computer says it's been synced with another device besides my own, and it wont let me do anything in itunes until I either start up the device as a new one, or restore from another back up, and i dont know what to do!
I got the new ipad several weeks ago, and since i had the ipad 2 before it, i transfered the data from it to my computer and gave the ipad 2 (techinally new since it had nothing on it) to a family member. Now, when I go to itunes on my computer with the new ipad, it says that the computer has already been synced with another device, and my only two options are to set the ipad up as a new one or to restore from a backup (my up-to-date backup for the new ipad does not come up on itune's list of backups that went to my computer). So now because of this, there is no way i can put anything from my computer to the ipad, or even look at it through Itunes on the computer! Is there any other option for me?! I need help now!!
I found this article some time ago when I was trying to help someone else in this same situation. This is a copy and paste from the website. The website is provided below for you to read before you try this.
Plug your phone into iTunes
Click setup as a new device
Immediately unplug your phone from the computer
Give it about 30 seconds and iTunes will give a message (I don’t remember the specific, but regarding you unplugging the device and it not completing)
Plug your phone back in
Viola! no restore occurred and you can access everything again
This computer has previously synced with an iPhone or another iOS device.

I upgraded to ios6.1.3 on ipod touch and after I completed a sync on my PC but I suppose it did not sync, because now it will not restore from a back up and wants to restore from another account that I have saved. Can I some how restore the apps to avoid having to pay for them again and having to recreate settings?
As I said, the backup that iTunes makes does not include apps (and music) if those items where not in the iTunes library on the computer on which you restored they will not be on the iPod.

Is this a new iPhone?
If so, when connecting a new iPhone to iTunes for the first time that has been used to sync with another iPhone or iOS device, you are prompted to transfer the backup for the other iPhone or iOS device to the new iPhone, or set up the new iPhone as a new iPhone.
If you don't want to transfer the backup for the other iPhone or iOS device, select set up as a new iPhone. No existing data or settings will be erased or changed when selecting as a new iPhone. Not that difficult or difficult at all. -
i have set up my wifes ipad mini wirelesly, i am now connecting for first time to itunes it asks if i want to set up as new ipad or restore from previous backup (my iphone not ipad), i have backed ipad up to icloud when i connect back to itunes will it give me an option to restore from icloud, i dont want to lose the apps and data my wife has already installed through her account... any thoughts

When I turned on iCloud backup now when I synch to iTunes it asks if I want to set up as new phone or restore from backup. Why? I have been synching this iPhone to this computer fine since I got my iPhone 4S.

So, I made a backup of my device (iPad 2). It was on iOS 4.3.2. I updated to iOS 7. Now, I'm at the default opening screen. I have to choose language, country, then connect to WiFi. After that, it asks me if I want to start new or restore from a backup from iCloud or iTunes. I select iTunes (because my backup is on iTunes), it brings me to the "Connect to iTunes" screen. I restore the iPad, and when the loading is all finshed, I come back to the iPad, and it's back to the default screen! Then I tried again and again. 5 times it didn't work. I also tried putting it in recovery mode prior to restoring, it doesn't work either. Help please?
Restore from iTune Backup
1. Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings
2. You'll be asked twice to confirm
3. You'll see Apple logo and progress bar
4. You'll see a big iPad logo on screen
5. Configuration start
6. Set language
7. Set country
8. Select Network and input Password>Join
9. Enable Location Service>Next
10. You'll be given 3 options (a) Setup as New iPad (b) Restore from iCloud Backup (c) Restore from iTune Backup
11. Select Restore from iTune Backup
12. You will see picture of USB cable pointing towards iPad
13. Connect iPad to iTune (make sure iTune is on standby)
14. Tap Continue (computer)

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

so my ipod been locked for over a month. it says that i need to get on itune and connect it, but when i do it tells me to unlock it. So im confuesed now. i dont know what to do.

Restored from TM back up and now no Applications or Utilities. Please help.
I just restored my machine from a Time Machine backup. After it completed its restore, it looks like all my user data is there but my /Applications folder is empty and there is no Utilities since the Applications folder is empty. My dock has nothing but "?". What happened? How can I restore my data properly?

my iMac for some reason just kept restarting every time i turned it on. i never got as far as the login screen. so i booted off the leopard dvd and restored from a TM backup. when the restore was complete, i noticed it didn't restore the applications and utilities.
well silly me thinking i can save space by not including the applications folder in the TM backups - this became more of a headache than a space saver. luckily all of the critical apps that i use are installed on my macbook pro. i target drive my MBP onto my iMac and copied the applications one by one as well as the utilities. the problem i encountered doing this is with System Preferences. because OS X is running, it cannot replace the broken app so i had to target drive my iMac onto my MBP and copied it that way. once every thing is restored, i booted off the leopard DVD again and did a Repair Disk Permissions. since the files i copied from my MBP are being used by a different user other than the user on my iMac. to be more safe, i also ran Repair Disk.
so now, i am including my Applications folder in my Time Machine back ups. i was only saving 26GB - it isn't worth the headache and experience i had today. besides i still had over 300GB of free space on my external drive. -
I purchased a new iphone 4 last week and it has been working fine until yesterday the screen was freezing. Today I have restored factory settings and restored settings from a back up from a previous iphone 3G. The restore has not fixed the freezing issue. Any thoughts?

Tonight when I went to bring up Firefox, it automatically updated the software. When the browser came up, my bookmarks were all gone. I tried restoring from backup (I get the error message "Unable to process the backup file.", importing from a manually exported HTML file (nothing happens), and saving new bookmarks (when I click Bookmarks again, the newly saved bookmark isn't there). I tried all the trouble-shooting advice; I have only one profile. I tried doing a system restore back to three days ago when Firefox worked. I tried uninstalling Firefox and reinstalling. Nothing works. Please help me ASAP, as I cannot function without my bookmarks!!! Also, please LET ME KNOW at [email protected] when this question is answered, as I can't find answers to previous questions on your cluttered forum!!!
Sorry if this comes to late, I just now came across this thread. I have rtorrent and rutorrent sunning successfully on my x64 Arch Linux install.
Try putting the "SCGIMount /RPC2 127.0.0.1:5000" line in your httpd.conf file right after the LoadModule lines (it's line 124 for me).
I seem to recall it not working when I put it at the end of the file.

Hi, whenever I plug my phone into iTunes, the phone interface pops up and I am given only two options: restore the phone from an old backup, or set the phone up as a new phone. I want to do neither of these things because the phone doesn't need to be restored, and it was set up when I first bought it a couple months ago. Help???
Apparently it does need to be restored because that is what it is requesting. You will need to restore it as New or from a recent backup if you made one.

i hope someone can help me it started i think when i got the new updat IOS 5 and ever since i havent been able to get any notifications to tell me anything has happened for example if i got a message on facebook or a tweet on twitter then it wont let me know i have to keep going on the app it self to find anything just hope someone can help me
Have you checked the notification settings inside of the apps themselves?
