My computer try's to download something at the starting screen and shuts down

I turn on my MacBook Pro and it goes to the apple logo with no problems, After a few seconds a little download bar shows up and try's to install something. The progress bar gets a tiny bit of the way through and my Mac just shuts down. I've tried it a couple times and I get the same results... Please help!

Reset the PRAM
If the problem persists try reformatting the hard drive, and reinstalling OSX

well the subject name is self explanatory and sums it up in one sentence but in depth.....
i was listening to music one day and the sound started to cut out and get static-y almost. after a couple of seconds of that the sound stoped playing all together but the song itself was still playing through. at first i thought it was just my itunes so i tried to listen to something on youtube when that didnt work i tried adjusting the volume settings, switching it from headphones (which didnt work either) and back to speakers, restarting the computer, googling, calling both my neighbor and boyfriend. still couldnt figure it out; still couldnt get it to work. frustrated, i stoped using my computer for a week. one day i decided to play a game on it and the start up noise came on while powering up so i went to see if my music was working again. still nothing. i began playing a game later on in the day and the sounds of the game worked every so often but still no music! im tired of not having my music so please help!!!!!

Download & Save the latest Audio driver from your support page.Go into Control Panel,Programs & Features- Uninstall IDT software.Restart the laptop. After Windows loads, install IDT audio using the downloaded file.

I don't think it's exactly an incomplete installation brody, but most likely in-correct permissions somewhere along the line that either happened, or became magnified during the upgrade. Also, it could be corruption as well.
First thing to do, is boot up holding down Shift key to do a safe-boot so we an clean up any corrupted OS caches, after that do another reboot, but go to the Lion recovery, and scan the HD for errors, repair any if you find them, and then try to do a Repair Permissions job.
That should fix the issue, if not, we can start doing a PRAM reset and SMC for good measure.

The download is over 5GB's so yours is incomplete.
You should be able to resume the download (instead of starting over) at the App Store.

How can I save to web without getting error messages and having my computer tell me there is no memory or freezing up and shutting down? I've read many other suggestions but have tried those things and none have worked. I have photoshop 12.

Many times I get the message only when saving a web file that there is not enough memory: My windows 8 has 2 TB and 10 Gigs of ram. I took it into the shop to see if something was wrong with the hard drive or ram, but when I hooked up my windows 7, I'm having the exact same issues. Please help.

I set ram to 100%, I changed my preferences in editor to not run anything to do with auto analyzer, I renamed the file auto analyzer to put a space in as someone said to do... I even did the following...
Reset Photoshop's Save For Web preferences:
1. Quit Photoshop
2. Delete the "Adobe Save For Web 12.0 Prefs" file:

Whenever I "save for web" and save something to the root of C:/ it will work, but the next time I "save for web" it produces the error. I was able to fix it by going into User Account Control settings and scaling down to "never notify." It requires a reboot, but the next time I "saved for web" it worked fine.
If you do this, be sure to change the UAC back to "default" as it is a security measure.
FYI you will have to restart anytime you tweak UAC.
To change UAC in Win 7 go to control panel>Action Center>Change User Account Control Settings and drag the slider to "never notify."

Try this: press F10 or tap the Alt key to display the menu bar temporarily, then
View > Toolbars > Menu Bar
If that doesn't work, you could reset your toolbars to factory default using Firefox's Safe Mode. First, make a backup of your computer for safekeeping. To back up Firefox, see [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information].
Next, start Firefox in Firefox
[http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode Safe Mode], and check only the box to reset toolbars. Be careful not to "reset" anything else if you didn't back up.

Thanks, I did that yesterday and it worked. I tried to repair it but it said there was a fatal error and I don't even need that Mobile device support. anyway. So after I uninstalled it, it never happened the next two times I closed out Itunes after that.

Your post only says iMac. We need to know what version of OSX you are running.
Did your computer come with Installation disks? If so, place the DVD in the DVD drive and reboot the computer while holding down "C" until the comuter boots.
Run Disk Utility on your hard drive and post back any messages you receive.

Computer "hangs" at start up and shut down

when i start up my computer, it takes more time than it should (i think) to start up, and then after login my desktop will appear, but several seconds pass before I can begin using anything.
At shut down, once the screen boes blue, it hangs for close to 30-45 seconds (at least) before finally shutting off. im not sure how to address this. last time i was in a store (for a different problem) the genius mentioned he thought it was odd that it did that (but didnt really have any advice or thoughts on why)
I am running Panther now, but this was also a problem with Jaguar as well.

Hi Jennifer,
Several ideas:
1) Reduce or eliminate your startup items. Some of them can increase your startup time by a few seconds.
2) Do you have Classic starting up on boot? If you do, turn it off. I think you can change that Classic preferences.
3) Are you connected to any remote systems? If so, close those connections.

Computer from Sleep now starts up and shut downs, starts up shut down, ...

Computer had been running this morning and I was away for a couple of hours. When I returned I found that my HP S5780t was shutting down then starting up again, then shutting down, starting up, ... Power supply LED shows green, disconnected hard drive and DVD drive and same condition exists. BIOS screen does not show up. All three fans working properly. Monitor shows initial HP screen but machine shuts down before anything can happed. Tried F10 but machine still shuts down. Machine will continue in this mode until I press and hold the power button for several seconds. Looks at some other messages regarding this issue but did not find anything that solves my problem.

I called tech support regarding repair options and they mentioned $299 to fix it no matter what the problem. This does not sound like a bad deal.
I'll wait until my new computer arrives, move the information from the dead computer's hard drive to the new one and then send in the unit.

Internet Explorer immediately launches when try to open the desktop from the Start screen

When I log onto my computer, instead of the Start screen opening, the Desktop opens, AND when the Desktop opens, Internet Explorer immediately launches there.
Other times, when I log-on, my computer will open on the Start screen, but then immediately launches Internet Explorer on the Start screen. I didn't click any Internet Explorer icons."

When opening PC the start menu will automatically start Internet Explorer in APP mode, and if we set Internet Explorer to open in desktop mode, then it will automatically open under desktop when start?
As we have no Internet Explorer in startup configured, so it won't start by itself. We may try to replace Internet Explorer item's position on the start menu with a different APP, then check what happens(drag and drop the desktop icon on the place of the
Internet Explorer);
Is the MSN webpage your home page here? If not, then there might be some application on the startup automatically launches this page, we may take a try to disable one at a time to check; and if this is your default home page, try to replace it with another
one, then change it back.

If I paused my downloads and shut down my computer, will it still resume its progress?

I paused my downloads by 6:30AM before I went to sleep. It was a series of files and its nearly finished, I was hoping to continue it by noon since, the internet spikes high again by noon. Incidentally, one of my housemates used my laptop and didn't noticed that I was downloading something, so after his use, he shutted-down the laptop. I was wondering if my downloads will still continue, well I would actually know in a minute, hoping that you would be able to answer my question in a matter of time, like in a support agency, and lastly, if not, what would be the next updates in this matter. I'm actually wondering if this would be possible in the future, well I already know that nothing is impossible with technology but I'm just wondering WHEN will this be able to implement. That's all.

Firefox should be able to resume paused downloads, but the main determining factor is if those websites support resuming an interrupted download.
In the future you would be better off using an external download manager that has a feature to shutdown your computer when all downloads are complete, and let the download process continue unattended.

Then it shows as downloading failed.But if I click on it twice ,it opens up .
