My display color shifts to a blue tint when opening photoshop and bridge with Yosemite

The display on my mac book pro color shifts to a blue tint when opening Photoshop CS6.  Any suggestions on how to maintain the current color profile?  My photography work is dependent on proper display calibration.  Thank you

First open the Universal Access preference pane and in the 'seeing' tab, make sure that the slider for 'enhance contrast' is all the way to the left. Next, open the Displays preference panel and click on the 'color' tab. The click the 'calibrate' button. This will take you through a color/brightness/contrast set up procedure that may eliminate the problem.
There are two options in the calibration process, standard, which is the default option and has fewer adjustment screens, and expert, which is selected by checking the box for it on the first calibration screen and offers more adjustments. You can't do any harm with either since any settings you create can be discarded, or profile(s) you save can be deleted or ignored if necessary.
This won't necessarily resolve the problem, but if not, then it would indicate that there's an issue with the hardware - possibly just the connector on the back of the system, which needs to be fastened really tightly. If you can't readily resolve this, since your system is so new, I'd then suggest you call Apple.

There is a major color shift in my artwork image from the photoshop jpeg to dreamweaver - it gets 'grayed out', loses color contrast. I checked in Bridge and the color settings are synchronized. The image in photoshop is just like what i get from my Nikon D90 camera. The  grayed out image has also been noted by two of my professional printer co. which i use but one of my printers - Modern Postcard - the images in photoshop are perfect. I just need to know what causes the color shift and how to control/manage it, thank you, Kathyrn

I have noted color shifts as well and have come to a few observations.
When you are making a .JPG file and you are trying to make a color in that file be the same color as your website's background, you're going to get a lot of failures. Photoshop will add color information in an ICC file in the meta information in the file if you like. That tends to produce actual colors, but they do not fit a web gamut.
The way I generally deal with images that need high quality is that I use the Save for Web and Other Devices exclusively, either ticking on or off the ICC profile for JPEG files and working with what works best. Saving a JPEG with as much information as is possible is usually the best choice but, since JPEG is a "lossy" compression scheme, you are always going to get some issues.
Additionally, the web browser in question will have control over what is displayed as well.
So try playing with the ICC profile in Photoshop's Save for Web And Other Devices and see if you can't get things a little more reliable.

The best thing to do is to go into Help > System Info, copy and paste the contents into your reply.
One of us or several should be able to sort it out for you.

  • Blue block when opening web page

what is the blue block when opening some web pages? Can the page be opened?

I think you're referring to a symbol that appears when you try to open a page that uses something like Flash or WMP that the Touch can't render.
It MAY change with software 2.0 coming in July, but we don't know.
    For now, no.

  • Reader 9.0, 9.1, 9.1.2 blue screening when opening multiple PW protected files

I have a user, using MSOffice 2k3, who get a blue screen when opening multiple password protected files thru Outlook. The error suggests to update the BIOS, which has been done. This occurrs in all 3 versions of Reader 9. It specifically occurrs AFTER he inputs the password in the PW box. It does not matter which file he opens 1st. Any assistance would be appreciated.

No, you are wrong (Gene & Mike). First, the forms, at least my forms, have NOT been edited since being created in designer. They were created and saved directly to flash. Second, this issue has been posted on the acrobat forum as well as the life cycle designer forum and both thread were ended with adobe expert posts saying it was an adobe reader issue and to post here.
I have experimented more with this issue and it seems to be a 'trusted identity' issue within reader, but I have not wholely figured it out yet. My forms work on Reader, 7, 8, and 9. They work on all versions of 7 and 8 regardless of what the form was optimized for (my forms were optimized for 9 and higher). The only trouble is on 9.0. I have found that when updating on client machines, reader gives a prompt (sometimes) that says reader has found a set of trusted identities from a previous version, would you like to use these identies or create a new set of identities. If you choose to keep the existing trusted identies set, the form works, even when upgraded to reader 9.0
Not trying to be argumentative (Mike and Gene) but the 'experts' bail on this issue by telling people it's a reader problem and to post here.

  • Display Color Shift/Imperfections

Suggestion for everyone, change your desktop background to a Solid Color, preferably Grey, now open a solid color photo or graphic or even open the application Stickies.  Now drag that solid color/graphic/sticky note across your display and tell me if you too have issues with equal perfect color rendition and constant shading across the display!?!? I took my 2 year old iMac display in when I first noticed a well defined line in the middle of my display in which the left side was much darker and dimmer than the right side...
The next 2 LCD screens I received were better, but far from the perfection I expect with Apple products! All genius bar employees that worked with me as well as roommates of mine could see the unequal color/grading of the screen.  I received a new iMac and this one too has the same issue albeit not as bad as the defining left/right dark/bright problem.  This computer screen's left side is more grey and it's right side more yellow (again were talking about very fine detailed color shifts).  Although these are subtle things, I don't see how professional photographers/videographers/editors and others involved in an industry which deals with such fine detail and relies on accurate color rendition can handle this problem?
I still love Apple, and I am very pleased with their support, but what is going on here?

  • I'm getting a blue tint when I print a certain paper

Recently I noticed that when I print on a certain paper (Epson Premium Ultra Luster Photo Paper) that a blue tint is being printed on the paper along with the image. This seems to be occurring whether I use a standard .icc file or a customized .icc file for this paper. Am using Adobe CS5 to manage colors, rendering intent relative colorometric. Am using an iMac with 10.6.8. and Epson 3880 printer. The only thing I can think that changed is I upgraded from 10.5 to 10.6 a few months back. If you look along the sides of the image below you can see what I'm getting.
Just for the heck of it, I just printed the same image with Photoshop Elements 9, and I am not getting this blue cast.

This is not going to help you, but I have never liked printing direct from Photoshop.  I use a Canon 9000 Pro, which came with an application called Easy Photo Print Pro, which other than being a ting bit more work to print an exact size, always gets colour how light/dark the print is, spot on every time.
I see Epsom have updated their guides to include PS CC.  I wonder if they have updated paper profiles.

  • Blue screen, blue on startup, blue tint when running, still works, not BSOD

I have a 3rd Gen 32GB Ipod touch.  I don't use it all that often.  It is in near perfect condition beside one little dent in the back it suffered over a year ago.  I have  never had a problem with it and it was off for probably a month or so and one day I turned it on and when it is coming on there is a bright blue screen with the white apple logo.  A couple of times it went back to the normal black background on startup with no problems while running but now it is blue everytime on startup and there is like a blue tint in the background the whole time it is on.  I have restored it, messed with the brightness, nothing works.  The ipod is fully functional, no problems there.  But I can't get the annoying blue hue to go away.  Please Help.

If you restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod and still have the same problem without installing anything you very likely have a hardware problem and the iPod needs repair.

It seems to me you're dealing with a lot of red herrings here.
Well, that can always be the case!
Read emil's response again. It really is that simple. The only possible explanation I can see for what you describe, is that your monitor profile is bad (not correctly describing the monitor) - assuming the original file is good.
Read my response again, it's really that simple.  I said my presumption is that most sRGB profile tag'ed images are NOT good -- *especially*, if I read it in, and see that it doesn't look right.
As for my monitor's profile.  I included a fairly recently profile of it -- it get's measured .. well used to be every 3 months, but looks like I should switch to monthly.  I use an external light measuring device that physically measures the color response at various RGB settings so it can accurately determine the real-output of the computer's RGB setting, and get an accurate profile.
I decided color reproduction was important to me, and wanted to give people I sent my images to the best possible view I could for my equipment (not some standard that was above or below my equipments capacity).  Since doing so, I've gotten considerable feed back that my images look 'great' -- of course they have to have good image viewing sw on their end to get full advantage -- which is why I use V2 profiles which, at least are FF compatible when it has it's color profile feature activated (unfortunately it doesn't handle V4 profiles at the time of this writing).
Astara_ wrote:Inevitably, sRGB images tend to look more washed out or dimmer on my
display, in Photoshop,  if I read them in, _with_ the profile.
This is only natural if you have a wide gamut monitor. Untagged sRGB will be over-saturated.
The tagged version is the right one.
You see, I don't find them to be over-saturated in about 60% of the cases (about 40% -- somewhat).  I think they were photographed or created with a wider gamut device then someone slapped an sRGB profile on them in post-production because that's the standard -- not because they were created by an sRGB-accurate device.  In such cases, the tag'ed image is the inaccurate one and will be more washed out than what  you might see in real life (well, if you have dry eyes or cataracts, maybe not..)  I'll notice a difference on my computer monitor when my eyes are dry vs. moist.  Computer monitor usage tends to dry out the eye -- and dry eyes will cause sRGB eyes -- more washed out colors, less contrast.
But it also would depend on your work environment -- I tend to work in a low-light environment with a low level of incidental light, as a result, I have my monitors white level (brightness) turned lower than 50%, as well as it's black level (contrast), though I know that my previous monitor had to have it's values set closer to 70-100%, to appear normal even in a dimmer light.  But I generally have a black curtain blocking out outside light, and work with environmental light that is bbalanced to be about the same as an average computer image.
Unfortunately, as I write this, it's being written against a 100% white background that is the brightest thing in the room.  Thus it causes a bit of eyestrain --- but try getting all websites to change their maximum white level to say 78% @ 3% saturation H158...(a bit more gentle on the eyes).
Of course you can assign other profiles as much as you like, but if you don't like the original that is just another way to color correct it, and there are better ways.
Just a guess, but if you are used to looking at images under higher light conditions it will reduce the overall contrast available to images on your monitor.  If you adjust your monitor to look right under higher light conditions -- you'd need to turn up brightness and color to compensate.
I.e. that might explain why you see more garish colors when you take off a questionable RGB profile vs. I see them, when applied as, often, being too washed out.  ??

  • Nv4_disp.dll errors blue screen of death photoshop cs4 bridge

Sometimes, when opening psd files from bridge in cs4 I am getting the Blue Screen of Death and a message stating the cause is nv4_disp.dll errors.   This started occurring a few days ago.
Environment: XP Pro, nvidia 7900 GS video card, nvidia driver version 6.14.11.9038. [ 190.38].
Anyone else experience this and has a solution?

I bet you'll sudennly get this error without doing that to cause it soon aswell. I had a very similar problem with BSoD and Nvidia display drivers on 9800GTX GPU. It started just doing it one day completely out of the blue. Unfortinatly, i'm still not sure what caused it, but it seemed when looking around the web that it was in fact faulty drivers, but not necisarily the graphics card drivers, just a conflict with them for somthing trying to work with them.
For me, i did everything under the sun and it worked.
    1. Get Spybot Search & Destroy, COMODO antivirus, Windows Live Onecare 30day free trial, and scan your system with each of them. Each one for me found soemthing new which was fairly unsettling.
    2. Re-install GPU drivers, re-install graphics tablet drivers if you have one, because that was thelast thing i had changed since i startd to get them, but it was a good few weeks afterwards, and it didn't fix it doing that anyway, but it may have helped somthing else work properly so just to be safe. Re-install anything you last installed, or remove it if you are willing.
    3. Disk defragment, Disk Cleanup, and run Clean Up Utilities. To help track down other problems, you can also download Regmon for windows made by microsoft: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896652.aspx you can see what your computer is douing in the registery. The other one to download is Filemon, which is the same thing but shows what your computer processes are doing. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896642.aspx
Good luck, but presistence in not wanting to re-install windows will overcome it evertually

  • My RAW files look fine on my camera but turn darker with a purple tint on Photoshop and Bridge

I took some pictures at a gig last night, the lighting was quite good for a change and I was really pleased with how they turned out. The lighting at the gig gave all the photographs a red tint which I don't like but they were all bright enough. As soon as I opened them up in Adobe Bridge they all looked fine one minute but then gradually started to change to a much darker purple colour! I opened them up in Photoshop and they were the same. I then put the card back in my camera and they were fine again, brighter and more detailed with a red tint. When I opened them up in Bridge again they were dark! Any suggestions on why this is happening?

Here is what we're talking about:
In another raw converter, RawTherapee, the image is almost entirely magenta:
Likewise in a raw-analysis program called RawDigger:
Finally, in Canon's DPP software we can see the image is using the Portrait Picture Style:
But if we change the Picture Style to Standard, then the lighting appears to be more magenta, again:
Which is especially apparent if we brighten things a little:
So my analysis would be that the Adobe Standard was a reasonable rendering of the raw data and camera white-balance, it's just that the camera was set to some non-standard settings, so corresponding adjustments needed to be made in Adobe software to match.

  • Blue background when I type and typing not shown on google

Entry boxes turn blue when I type and when searching on google I can't see what I am typing at all. The subject line on Yahoo email turns blue but I can see what I am typing there.

  • Color shift coming out of LR when printing??

Just upgraded to a Nikon D300. Imported RAW (14 bit) image. Edited on color calibrated iMac. Specified Hahnemuhle .icc profile to Epson Pro 3800 (6.10) driver. Set color managed OFF in driver. Print Preview from driver showed a shift to green on parts of the image. Image printed as it looked in Preview, not as in LR.
I then set LR to Managed by Printer, and set the driver to manage color controls. The image printed nearly exactly as it appeared in LR (kudos to the Epson driver I guess) ....
    Any ideas?

The previous test was on Epson paper. This time I use the Hahnemulhle paper, but specified an Epson profile to match the Hahnemuhle recommended Epson paper in the driver. The image printed perfectly, matching the LR image. So .... Epson profile on Hahnemulhle paper looking 100% better than the vendor profile on their own paper!?

  • Color Shift since 10.9.3 when launching apps

    Hi,
Since my Macbook Pro Retina updated to 10.9.3, almost all apps revert back to the system default color profile for the display rather than the calibrated one from Colormunki Photo (which worked fine until 10.9.2 and I even recalibrated to create a new profile and checked its integrity).
This makes photo editing in applications a nightmare because colors are off. Way off for reproduction proofing.
The profile works in a lot of Apple native applications but even small free third party applications revert back to the system default profile.
    What to do?
My workflow came to a screeching halt when this happened. (Clean installs, NVRAM and SMC reset, Disk Utility and combo updaters all do not solve this).
    Thanks for all your help.
    Madison

What are you calling a clean install?   There is erase and install.  And why not erase and install and just return to 10.9.2?
Using the Restore install leaves you with old information from 10.9.3, unless you erase the disk first.
It appears that there is a bug with colorsync in 10.9.3.

  • Color Shift using Paint Shop Pro files in Photoshop

I'm TRYING to move over into Photoshop after a happy ten years with Paint Shop Pro. I was doing fairly well finding equivalent tools and techniques in PS until I hit a brick wall. If I work on a file in PS the colors will shift and no longer blend into an existing PSP design. What's happening here and how do I compensate?

    Hi Linda,
As Chris says, Photoshop is a color managed application. One approach is
to grab on and ride the bear, which means learn about color management.
For example, you can assign your monitor profile to your Photoshop images,
and the colors will match your existing images in PSP and on the web.
Another approach is to turn Photoshop's color management off in Color
Settings (ctrl-shift-K to open the Color Settings dialog, then select
"Color Management Off" in the settings drop down list at the top of the
    dialog.
This will make your colors match those in PSP, after which you can learn
about color management if and when you have the time.
