May you explain exactly what you mean by "my document is not highlighted" ?
I thought that you were speaking of the behavior of the Open Dialog but I wonder if it's really that.
Here is the Open Dialog :
One item is highlighted (in purple). It's the selected one.
Several items appear in black. They are those which Pages may open.
Some appear in gray. They are those which can't be open by Pages.
My understanding was that your documents appeared grayed.
Is it really that ?
Here is a way to get the System version :
Click the first menu item in the Apple menu.
Here, the operating system version is 10.6.7
Now, a way to get the Application's version :
Click the first menu item in the menu Pages.
Here the application's version is 4.0.5.
I'm not a sooth sayer so I can't guess if you bought Pages as a single app thru mac App Store or if you bought the entire iWork package.
From the mac App Store, you got Pages 4.0.5
In the iWork package, Pages is delivered in version 4.0 which must be updated thru Software Update (second menu item of Apple Menu).

A "zip file" is a compressed file. "Zipping" in principle does not and cannot change the contents. So that if the contents before zipping are garbage, or unreadable on a Mac, when you expand the file you will get garbage or an unreadable file.
The first thing to verify therefore is whether the file, before it was zipped, was in a "Mac friendly" format. Can you do that?
You do not need an App to zip or unzip. These functions are built in on our Macs.
And yes, zipping and unzipping using the built in functionality, work fine in OS 10.6.8. And 10.7 and 10.8 and 10.9.

Which OS are you running and which version of Pages are you running on the Mac?
One way that you can access the documents is to log into iCloud.com on the Mac and then click on the Pages icon. You can download them onto the Mac or you can just work on them in the cloud if you prefer.

You are running an outdated version of Pages '09 v4. The iWork site was shutdown years ago.
Which version of OS X are you running ( ▸ About This Mac)? And the exact version of Pages '09 v4 (Pages > About Pages)?
The short answer is to save your Pages '09 document to the filesystem, open Mail, and drag/drop the Pages document into the compose window. If this is going to people without Pages, export it as a Word document (.doc), and then attach it to Mail.

I thought it was multilayered tif, but I think it's called a multi page tif.
When I open it in Photoshop it opens the top layer/page, and none of the others. (It doesn't give the option to choose a page/layer either).

.pages is the file extension for files created by Apple's Pages program, not Appleworks. As far as I know, Pages is the only program that can open a .pages file. Pages is also able to save in Word format, as PDF and more. You'll have to have them send it again in a different format.

I have used the help and also read the Pages user manual on how to hyperlink to a specific word or words in the same document and nothing works. The main problem is the when I try to set a bookmark the + is not highlighted to add the word or words that I highlighted.

Well, I was considering that a blank page requires a page break, and since you can insert a page break after a page that is so full that adding one more character would force a new page, it isn't exactly on the previous page, either. It's kind of between the pages.
Nevertheless, if you show invisibles, the page break shows itself on the previous page, and if you select it for your bookmark, it will jump to the end of the previous page, so basically your objection is valid. If you have a completely blank page it would be better to type a single space onto the page and use that for the bookmark. I think this could only be the case for the final page in a document; every page before that must have at least a page break or a section break on it.

Command-Click the filename at the top of the Pages window. In the list that pops up, click on the second item, the parent folder of the document. A finder window will open. Control-click the highlighted file and select "Move To Trash". Close the document.

I am allways using a template to make documents, that I save under different names. How can I add the (changed) filename in the footer of a saved document ?
It is important to me to print the filename on document, to find and edit it on my mac later.
In MS Word it is easy to automaticaly add filenames, path, author and other filedata to the document. I can't find how to do that automatically in Pages templates.

That function, present in "Pages 09" (i.e. Pages 4.3) , was not included in Pages 5.0-5.1. (Nor were nearly 100 other such features, from mail merge and bookmarks to non-contiguous text selection, 2-up page viewing and the ability to set alternating left/right margins, headers & footers.Version 5.1 is also notably buggy. One work around, or partial work around, is to click the file name at the top of the window document. You can then select the filename, copy it and paste it whereever you like. As far as I can see, however, there is no way to include the path: all you get is the filename and extension.

And there are literally tens of thousands of sites of which I've not heard, too. Not this one.
It's legit. There are lots of links in Apple Support Communities to the LibreOffice web site, as well as others that are legitimate open-source developers of options to buying MS Office, such as NeoOffice and OpenOffice. I have Open Office installed on one of my older Macs that can't run Office 2011 and it is rock-solid.

I have a simple label document in Pages which I print to my label printer. The label is 1.49 x 3.47 inches and needs to print in Landscape, and it needs to print to my Dymo label printer. Thank you for your reply. However, I could not get Templates to work correctly for me. Following your instructions, I opened my document, opened Page Setup, set the printer, paper size, orientation, and printed a copy to make sure it was right. Then I re-opened Page Setup to verify that the settings were still correct. Then I saved the document as a Template. Then I found my template in Pages, opened the template, and tried to print. The first thing I noticed was that the template did not remember my printer. Then I set the printer, and printed, but I found that the template also did not remember the page size or the document orientation. So, did I miss a step here? Lion 10.7.5 and Mac Mini.

I use my Macbook primarily for writing, and every time I open a new Pages 5 document the side formatting bar/window/panel is also open. I have a small screen on my 13 in macbook, so I have to close that window up so I have room for other windows to work on multiple Pages docs at once.

Yeah, that's what I'm doing now - just clicking it shut each time I open a doc. But man, what a cumulitavely annoying extra step that has not been there in the 4 or 5 years that I've been using Pages, but just showed up last week.
Seems like there must be some sort of setting to make this not be the case.
