Close the mail app and reboot the iPad.
Tap the home button once. Then tap the home button twice and the recents tray will appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the mail icon. Tap the home button twice.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Okay, so, fast forward from July to now -
- I've visited my closest Apple store's genius bar twice now. (Over an hour and a half away.)
- My computer spent at least 8 hours behind their closed doors in the workshop
- Several complete erases of the harddrive have taken place
- Most of the Apple geniuses I dealt with were nice and very knowledgeable, but they were and still aren't 100% sure exactly what is wrong with my computer.
The good news is:
- They were able to at least get it running again, with a clean install from their servers of OS X Lion 10.7.5
- They believe that my problems stem from either 1 of 2 things:
- Faulty Hard Drive (even though it is brand new)
- The wrong build of software being installed.
Now, while the wrong build does seem like it could be the problem, it doesn't make sense in the aspect that all of the initial problems began when the first hard drive failed. The same problems continued when I changed out the failed hard drive with the brand spanking new one, and only slightly improved when I was able to successfully install the OS that came with the original disks for my computer. I'm not convinced this thing is back to normal, but hopefully I can make it last through getting a shiny new retina Macbook Pro in the coming future. What version of Android phone are you using?
Do you have a built-in file explorer or any third party File explorer installed on your phone?
If no, then i would recommend you to install a File explorer on your phone and then you would be able to browse files from within the Acrobat DC app on your Android phone.

I meant that I sign out, sign back in ok. Ergo, I know my password. Someone here on the support page (you?) told me the culprit is the 2 step verification process which I had on. That makes a lot of sense as Apple mail won't get a code thereby jamming up the process. I could not even start a new account until I took that 2 step process off. Everything fine now thank you.

First, make sure that all your devices are using the same Apple ID in iMessages including your Mac. Second, your messages that you've already started on your devices will not show up on your Mac - only ones that you start from now on will show up. Third, if you're still not syncing accross all devices, make sure you read the directions on the first page of this thread. It should work after performing those steps. Good luck!

I've tried updating in the following conditions:
1. "Over The Air" at one location;
2. On a Windows computer running the latest version of iTunes at the same location;
3. On Mavericks (10.9.4) running the latest version of iTunes (11.4 (18)) at another location;
4. On Mavericks, latest iTunes over a VPN with a server location in US;
5. On Mavericks, using a 3G connection shared from an iPhone;
6. On Yosemite developer preview with a previous version of iTunes at the same location.
I got the same results in most cases except for an occasional error with code 9; I'll try again in other conditions.
Interestingly enough, I've successfully updated my devices to iOS 7.1.2 and to iOS8 GM without any issues at the same location but, of course, no two conditions are exactly the same

It's beta. It's no where near ready for prime time. It's put out there so that developers can start getting their products ready fo the new release.

People have gotten the wrong idea about what a beta is thanks to the likes of google, who release a product to market and call it "beta" just so they don't actually have to support it. I've beta tested operating systems going all the way back to OS/2 when it was still a joint Microsoft/IBM project. Believe me, you do NOT want beta versions of operating systems getting into the hands of the unwashed masses. It would quickly turn from 'getting rid of bugs' to outright revolt.

If you don't remember the restrictions passcode, your only option is to force the phone into recovery mode and restore it as a new device.
Do NOT restore your backup. The restrictions settings are part of the backup.

Go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars; select the account in question and check your settings. There are two separate settings for mail, incoming mail server for receiving mail, and SMTP for sending mail.
It could be that the mail process is stuck. Before doing as I said above, double-tap the home button to open the multi-tasking list. Locate the mail app and swipe upwards on the app thumbnail to force closed. Then do a reset on the phone, holding the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. After the phone reboots, then open the mail app and see if you receive your mail. If you receive an error message, make note of it and come back.
