My fourth generation ipod touch is not turning on properly. It is plugged into the computer but when i unplug it it just shows that it needs to be plugged in. Please help!
I recently downloaded something for my ipod. Now it will not turn on properly. Can someone please tell me how to turn it back on please.
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

My 2nd Generation iPod touch will not turn on. I have held the lock button down for up to 30 seconds and it remains a black screen. When I put it on the charger, the screen usually shows the battery amount, but it will not do that either. I checked the battery about 10 minutes before it began this, and it was about 75% charged. There is no way it could be dead. It will not even show the apple, as if it were powering on.
- Connect the iPod to your computer. If iTunes sees the iPod restore the iPod.
- Next see if resetting the iPod will make the iPod visible so you can restore the iPod.
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Next see if recoverymode will make the iPod visible. For recovery mode see:

first: why did you download the iOS Beta 8? If you are a developer, go to the Apple Developers website and check what they can do for your case.

So one day is was laying next to my ipod touch and i tried to turn it on but it wouldnt. so then i pluged it up to my computer to charge but it didnt charge, the computer didnt pick up the divice. so now my ipod touch will not turn on, and i have no idea why. PLEASE HELP.
mine did the same thing. What I did was hold the home and power button down for 10 seconds but that did not work. I figured out that I just had to hold them down for a long time like 15 to 45 seconds. Then it finally turned on. You may have to do it a couple of time. But if this does not work send it in to the apple company they fixed mine completly free they even sent me a box to send it in. I hope my answer helps you fix it.

It had a good amount of battery left and then all of a sudden it turned off and now will not turn back on even after 30mins of charging. no charging screen has appeared either. ive held down both the home n sleep buttons for 10secs or more and still nothing has happened. then i held down just the home button. still nothing and then i tried holding down the sleep/wake button for a couple seconds and still nothing has happened are there any other ways of turning my ipod back on or did it **** the bed and i should get a new one? thanks

Is there a reset button or procedure on the Ipod 8GB touch. My son was playing a recently downloaded free game (Need for Speed) when it Quit working. i have had it on the USB cable for about two hours now and it still does not want to turn on. I had to turm on Itunes when i plugged in the ipod touch, Itunes usually opens when the ipod touch is conected.

I had my iphone in my pocket when i was at a pool someone pushed me in as a joke but my iphone did not seem to like the water so i instantly put it in a bag rice, It was in there for about 2 days i took it out plugged it in the wall to try to see if it would work... nothing so then a few days later i wake up and my friend plugged in my iphone just to try to see if it would worked and it kinda does work but i cant get it to go past the apple boot screen and the screen its self works and it seems like its charging when i plug it in the wall but it dosent keep a charge. some one please help! and what are my best options?

Sounds like this problem:

One user reported that placing the iPod in the freezer fixed the problem.

I tried to update my ist generation iPod touch to OS 3.0. At some point during the update, the screen turned off and now it won't come back on. I'm running Windows 7. When I plug the Ipod in, I get the USB noise and itunes gives me the following error: "An iPod has been detected, but it could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the iPod, then try again. An unknown error occurred (2005)."
Needless to say, I tried unplugging it, replugging it, restarting the computer, holding down both the sleep and home buttons by themselves and together for various amounts of time up to 30 seconds, plugging the iPod into a different computer that is running Vista and doesn't have itunes installed, and doing all of the above in every combination I could imagine.
All help appreciated!Well, thanks to Google, I'm on my way to recovery. Turns out the iPod was in DFU (Download Firmware Update) mode. Here are the instructions I followed to get in back into restore/update mode:
1. Run itunes and plug in iPod.
2.Hold power and home buttons down until "ding dong" indicates device disconnected
3.Release the power button (but keep holding the home button down until "ding dong" sounds againand release the home button.
4.iTunes should see it as a DFU’ed iPod and should ask you to automatically restore its firmware.
I had to repeat steps 1-3 a couple of times before iTunes would take over and run the restore.
Itunes is downloading the software, which takes awhile, and the screen is white, but hopefull this will be fixed soon.
