My Gmail has been working fine until today. Now I cannot send messages. I can receive them fine.

I have a brand new computer, using Yosemite. My mail program has been working fine for several days, but suddenly this afternoon it is unable to send mail. I can receive mail just fine. I can send mail from a different email account. How can I fix this?

ginavee, as I stated in my earlier post, we've no idea what settings you need to enter in your Mail account preferences. You'll have to go to your service provider's web site and see if they provide it in a support section there. For example, if you use Comcast as your service provider, the Comcast web site will have information on how to set up Apple's Mail program. You'll need, of course, your email account name and password.
You may be able to determine your Mail settings by looking at your iPad's Mail settings if you're able to send and receive email from that device.

FaceTime has been working great until today

It was working fine between my iPad2 (in NC) and my daughter's (in MN). Now it's not working on the 4s or MacBook Pro (no audio or video). Anybody have any guesses what's going wrong.

So you have the 13" aluminum notebook that just says "MacBook" on the display, correct?
You can get a new battery for $100 from Other World Computing here.
Alternatively, you can get one through Apple for $130 here.
I personally would go through OWC - they're a highly-recommended third party for these kinds of parts and their batteries work just as well as Apple's.

go to your mail providers setup guide and compare every single setting to how your smtp setup in your settings are set
and if they are not the same change yours to match their page
and if they are the same contact your isp to inquire as to why they are blocking the ports your mail provider are using

Second display from iMac27" (late 2009) miniDisplay Port worked fine until today- now no longer connects to Apple Cinema Display

Have a configuration of an iMac27" (MAC 27"/4850-512MB PROCESSOR 2.66GHZ QUAD-CORE INTEL CORE I5 Dec 2009 model) and a second screen Apple Cinema Display 2009 model 24"
The setup with the Apple Cinema Display has been working fine for 3 years and since yesterday the second screen refuses to work.
Connected it to a MacBookPro and the Apple Cinema DIsplay functions fine sot my conclusion is it is not the Apple Cinema Display's error.
Could it be that the Mini Display Port on the iMac is somehow broken? Or is there a software fix I need to checkout?

UPDATE:
As noted in the first post, both of these newer USB DAC work fine at 24/96 on my wife's iMac, so it's clear that they didn't both become defective when I connected them to the Macbook Pro at the same time.
Resetting the Macbook Pro PRAM didn't help, so I removed the hard shell laptop case to get to the battery and remove it, then reset the SMC. After that I could use the original DAC at 24/96 again, but only IF it was plugged into the rear USB port. If I plugged it into the front USB port then the sound was garbled and filled with noise. This was a vast improvement over no sound at all.
Then I switched to the replacement/updated DAC, but I got no sound at all from either USB port at any bit-rate. And returning to the original DAC again now results in no sound again.
Sigh... I will reset the PRAM and SMC again, and see how far I can get with this. I'd still love some help. Thanks!

Assuming you're using iPhoto 09 or later:
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

An email site has been posted in notepad and now I cannot get into the site

I received an email from Coldwater Creek. Somehow the site got transferred into note pad and I cannot open any websites for Cold water Creek through Mozilla Firefox. How do I correct this situation so I can again get into this website and remove it from Notepad?

My wife has the same problem. It seems the E-mail had some bad code and now an "apsx" file will open in Notepad.
Check in Tools - Options - applications Then look for aspx. This is the newer web page code for very fancy web sites using databases and all that. You can't change nor delete that "application opener" nor change it to use Firefox. So we're stuck. Maybe try uninstalling Firefox and reinstall. There is no reset in that "application" page.
We need some help from the tech guys.

Welcome to the HP Forums.
That you for provided such a detailed post with what you've already completed, for the issue with your battery. I will try to guide you further.
I would like to provide you further documents for troubleshooting, but you've essentially completed what I have for this issue. The only step left, would be to test the battery.
You can do this with another battery, or in another notebook. I know you mention another machine, but if you know someone who does or someone who has a compatible battery. This would test that. You could even see if a local computer shop could test it.
The reason for this, is if the battery is the problem, it's much easier and more affordable replacement. Also, you mention it being new, might have warranty.
The other possible cause to the issue you've touched on, that would be the system board. Testing the above, would just confirm if this is the problem or not. From there you could decide on what you'd like to do.
I know, there really aren't many suggestions here, but I hope this can provide you with the next step.
Let me know how things go, with the route you choose to troubleshoot.
