My Hotspot stopped working and I don't want to restore!
Hi there,
So the Hotspot function on my iPhone 5 suddenly stopped working for me one day. I used to use it all the time for work by just plugging it into my laptop. Now when I plug it into my laptop, nothing happens and it wont connect... not even the blue bar appears!
I have tried to fix it by reseting the network settings and downloading latest software. However the only way I find that gets it to work is by restoring my iPhone to its factory settings. However, I have done this but then restored it again from a recent backup as I dont want to lose all my data and messages.
Does anyone know how I could get my hotspot to work without restoring it?

If you don't restore, you cannot use iPad.

Connect the iOS device to your computer and try to make a backup.

Then restore via iTunes. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

This may occur if you are connected to the Internet and iTunes is trying to connect to the iTunes Store and fails for some unknown reason.
Try this:
Quit iTunes and disconnect completely from the Internet.
IF you have an iPhone (iPod etc), open iTunes. Sync the device.
Re-enable your Internet connection.
Quit iTunes.
Open iTunes again.
If this does not work, try completely uninstalling iTunes, then reinstall it according to these instructions:

I turned off firefox update but it is getting turned back on and telling me firefox 5.0 is available. I don't want firefox 5.0 until all my plugins work and I don't want to be bothered. I will followup in a few months on update. I use Ccleaner to delete tracks/history/cookies/passwords/site pref and to compress FF DB.

My ipod screen is cracked and i can't sync my ipod to itunes because it is locked with a password and i can't enter the password because the heat sensor is messed up on the ipod becasue of the screen and i don't want to restore it and lose everything. What can i do?!
All you can do is to restore and thus erase the iPod unless you can get a data recovery company to preserve the data.
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

An "other" larger tha about 1 1/2 usually indicates that the "other" includes corrupted files.
First try:

The update has completely screwed up my 4.. No more iMessage over WiFi, I have to hold my phone in the air sometimes to catch a signal and I never had to do that before, and after the update I can't send any pictures, over iMessage or 3G .. And with the weak signal I only get my notifications from apps when it wants to.. I'll be connected to wifi and using it, but won't get any notifications, or when I do.. Its whenever the signal has registered or my phone has authenticated it, I've had these problems since last year with no fix, I've reset my router countless times, I'm on Verizon and NEVER had wifi or imessage issues before ios6 .

I was trying to upload some music to my phone, then my Itunes told me that my phone is on recovery mode! What does recovery mode even mean? It says it will check for an update again in a couple days? An update for what?
The only option it is giving me is to restore my entire phone? I can't though... I have too much numbers, and important stuff on my phone for it to be restored!
