My HP is a Pavilion Desktop 10GB Memory1.5TB Memory with Windows 7 Home Premium possibly defective

My computer has had problems starting 4 months after purchase. The mother board had to be replaced. And now several months later it is freezing a lot, whining, groaning and popping. Geek Squad supposedly fixed it after bouncing it around to different states for over a month and apparently it is not fixed. I believe this computer to be defective and everytime I have Geek Squad on line check it they say it is a hardware problem and to get it serviced. It seems that replacing it is not an option and I am frustrated. This was a birthday present and I have had MAJOR issues with BestBuy and the store's Geek Squad being VERY rude and uncooperative and misleading me in information. I don't want to go back, but my computer is growing in its issues. How can I be made whole? I have a letter prepared for the Corporate Office in Palo Alto California, but I am afraid it will just be tossed in the trash or ignored as I am just one custormer out of thousands. This situation has had so many twists and turns that my letter is six pages long with what I have been put through. I just want a working computer, the screen I originally chose (I was told it doesn't exist by BestBuy and found out it does) and the printer I originally chose. HELP!

    I've currently setup this environment (both OS/Client are fully up to date as of today). I am using one server as the Gateway, Web Access, Connection Broker and RD Session Host with one collection.
    I am trying to get USB redirection setup to work properly. Some devices work (pen drives/iPhone etc), but other devices (we have a smart card reader we are testing that works natively on my Windows 8 machine) that doesn't appear.
    I see conflicting information wherever I go on the internet on how to get this working. Some places suggest modifying the registry on the client machine, other places suggest you need to add a customrdpproperty to the collection.

    For redirecting USB on server 2012 R2 is to set the custom property for a session collection by using following command.
    Set-RDVirtualDesktopCollectionConfiguration –CollectionName YourCollectionName –CustomRdpProperty "usbdevicestoredirect:s:{6bdd1fc6-810f-11d0-bec7-08002be2092f }"
    where {6bdd1fc6-810f-11d0-bec7-08002be2092f} is the System-Defined Device Setup Class GUID.

    I've installed DIS 10gR3 in Windows 7, installation was completed successfully without errors / warnings. But, I'm not able to move on from there. It doesn't show up in the desktop or programs list.
    Please could you let me know if DIS 10gR3 is compatible with windows 7.
    We are planning to move into windows 7 (64 bit). Highly appreciate your guidance.

    Hello, I have installed DIS 11.1.1.3.0 on my Windows 7 (64bits) and I've the same problems with windows explorer integration. There is no way to make it work. DIS 11.1.1.3.0 is the latest version from Oracle's page. I couldn't find version 11.1.1.4. Does it exists, or some fix about this problem.

    Pavilion A6750F new hard drive with clean install of Windows 7 64.  The system will hang on many screens from IE to Outlook 2003.  If I wait, they will correct themselves.  The Bios is version 5.13, but I do not see an update available.

    There might be several items to check.  Open the RUN window and enter: MSCONFIG
    Make that the boxes under the Advanced TAB are unchecked.
    It's very possible since you installed a new hard drive that the hard drive is faultly.  Recheck the sata cables and run some bios diagnostics.
    Open the RUN Window and enter the following command: chkdsk
    Open my Computer and right mouse click on the hard drive --> properties --> Tools --> Check now
    What is the make and model of the new hard drive?

  • HP Pavilion dv9723cl CD/DVD not dectecting with Windows 7

    I upgraded my Laptop HP Pavilion dv9723cl to windows 7 and my cd/dvd could not be dectected. It was working fine after like 2 weeks the icon was gone and it won't play anymore. I tried everything to fix it. I even went to regedit and deleted the Lower and Upper filter.  I searched everywhere but no luck. Does anyone else have this problem and does anyone know how to solve this problem.

    Go to Control Panel --> System and Security --> Administrative Tools --> Computer Management --> Storage --> Disk Management.
    From this window you can view and modify partitions of almost any storage device attached to your computer. There isn't a lot that you can do with the currently mounted hard drive besides formatting (which erases all the partitions) and modifying the sizes of the partitions. If you take the hard drive out of your laptop though and plug it in to another computer (like your desktop) with another bootable hard drive, you can use these steps and should have more freedom to modify the partitions on the hard drive.

    I have a m9040n hp pavilion desktop with vista home premium.  My hp advisor will not work. When I go to the menue to pull it up the icon has changed and is an icon of white pages. When I select the icon Hp Advisor it gives me a gray dialog box called the file type assistant.  For searching for software to open the file. I've tried to install the sp 43112.exe update recommended for my hp pavilion m9040n with vista home premium but my hp advisor is still not working. Any ideas as to why my installing the update failed?  Is there anything I should do beforeinstalling the update?

    I understand you’re stating the HP advisor isn’t working correctly after an update.
    Try doing a system restore back a day or two before the update occurred, if you haven’t attempt that already. Below are the instructions on how to do a restore if you’re unsure.

    At present I am using a Pavilion Elite HPE-150f desktop, windows 7 home premium 64bit, I use Microsoft works Task Launcher a lot of the time and it came pre installed on my desktop.
    Now I have purchased a new HP Envy 700-019 windows 8 64 bit desktop, still in the box and not set up yet, is there any way I can install Microsoft works task Launcher onto my new desktop without a disc. I have the recovery discs but no disc just for Microsoft works task Launcher.

  • HP Pavilion P2-1013w Desktop PC - UEFI Install with WIndows 8.1 Pro RTM causes hang

    I have an HP Pavilion P2-1013W Desktop PC with the UEFI enabled bios.
    With Windows 8.1 Pro RTM Build (MSDN Download available now from Microsoft - Released September 17th 2013 - Again,. this is 8.1, a.k.a. Windows Blue RTM)
    SATA Mode is set to AHCI
    BIOS is UEFI Enabled
    I boot from the Windows 8.1 Pro USB Installation Media using the UEFI: USB Storage option, Windows Setup starts. I get to the partitions screen, remove the partitions then click New. Windows Setup creates the 4 Partitions (Recovery, MSR, System and Primary) as expected.
    When I click Next and Setup begins to copy files, the system locks up. The mouse pointer stops moving, keyboard is unresponsive, and it will sit at 0% for as long as it's left on.
    After checking, Microsoft makes a few notes about the requirements. Setup will not run if the OS does not match the UEFI 'bitness'. If this were the issue, I would get a text-mode message about it being the wrong architecture. I don't get that. I get the install wizard, so it is supported.

    And I suspect this is a version problem as the original Windows 7 install was a UEFI install, not Legacy. It appears the BIOS firmware I have installed is not compatible with Windows 8.1.
    Will an update be made available? Or will I have to revert to WIndows 7 UEFI, and upgrade?

  • Win 7 Home Premium Restore error 0xe0ef0003 - Boot Mgr Missing - on Pavilion s5257c desktop

    Hi.  I have a Pavilion s5257c with Windows 7 (64bit) installed.  The computer had been going to blue screen and memory dump randomly for several months. 
    I decided to do a system restore with previously created recovery disks.  Did not work and received the 0xe0ef0003 error.  Tried several times and always hung-up on the 3rd recovery disk.  Ordered HP recovery disks for desktop (5 disks).  Have tried recovery many times, using the HP Recovery Disks and still hangs on the 3rd disk with the same error.  Ran PC Doctor several times (provided with recover disk options), check HD OK, but has random memory fails (sometimes on high bit test, sometimes low bit test, sometimes checkered pattern, etc).  Tried formatting the HD with Kill Drive (free version) which does a simple 0 write in formatting.  Same error comes up with recovery disks after HD format (tried 2 times).  Tried a Win 7 Install ISO, downloaded from internet (several times).  Still cannot install Win 7 or restore PC.  Same error at same stage (3rd disk) of recovery.
    Yesterday I found an ISO fix from the HP download center for the 0xe0ef0003 error, to fix some problems with certain PC video configurations during the system restore process.  From looks of my problem, seems I have the video config problem, but I do not know how to fix.  By the way, I can no longer boot from HD because system gives error (Boot Mgr Missing).
    Any help will be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!  Thanks in advance!

    HOW TO FIX!
    I ordered 3 system restore cd from HP as the system restore was not working on the computer,
    I installed the 3 dvd...I got the 0x03f0001 message on the black screen.... Upon bootup I got the boot mgr missing of course because the 3rd (official cd from Hp) could not fully install. I ran HP diagnostic and everything  passed. I removed the memory and installed new memory. After 4 failed installs and 2 calls to HP, I was told that the computer was defective and it needed to be sent back.
    I installed a new hard-drive and ran the restore cd from HP and got the message above upon boot up after the 3rd cd installed and the system rebooted. Just a reminder only keyboard and mouse was installed and I disconnected the flash ports which were located on the front of the computer. I also change the cmos battery and reset the bios to factory defaults. Still could not get those bloody windows 7 restore (offical HP) 64 bit home to install.
    So after much frustration, I installed an hp windows vista cd from hp from another hp that I own. GUESS WHAT MY NOW DEFECTIVE COMPUTER DIAGNOSED BY HP... AS DEFECTIVE AND WOULD NEED TO BE SENT BACK IS WORKING! WITHOUT PROBLEMS.
    I DOWNLOADED AND INSTALLED OEM WINDOW 7 CD and UPDATED THE SYSTEM. (NO PROBLEMS)
    So Its the cd's, and those that think its a cdrom drive issue, I also replaced the cd rom with an official hp cd rom drive and I still could not get those restore cd to work.
    THANKS HP, I spent 6 hours to realize that the bloody cd's that I many others have are defective.....

  • Pavilion desktop freezes on start up

    I have a Pavilion desktop:

    Model P71549.
    I had previously called HP support a few months ago as the computer would not shutdown when I would use the shutdown feature on the Start menu. The case # for this call was{Personal Information Removed}. At that time a technician from HP remoted into my computer and created an icon on the desktop so that I could shutdown and restart the computer.
    I have recently been having problems as the computer will not wake up from sleep mode/when it is hibernating. A few days ago my computer was hibernating and I plugged in my mp3 player to charge it. The computer did not wake up from hibernating, so I removed the mp3 player from the USB port and performed a hard shutdown. Since then, the computer will not load past the blue hp welcome screen. I am unable to boot into safe mode. I have run diagnostic tests on the PC for hardware, memory, system tests, etc by pressing escape as the computer boots and all tests PASSED.
    I do not have recovery disks or files on a USB. The computer is under parts and labor warranty until May. 
    Any help in this matter would be appreciated,

    I use an HP Pavilion desktop using Windows 7. Whenever I watch any video, from You Tube or any other source, every few seconds the video will freeze but the audio continues. When I move my finger slightly on the mouse pad, the video resumes. What could be causing the delay and how can I resolve it?
