My imessage is showing my email

My iMessages are showing up from my email. When I look at caller ID it is checked that my number should show up. Any one have any idea on how to fix this? Thanks!

Help my iMessage isn't working because my email is only showing as my thing to where people can contact me instead of my number. I'm new to the whole iphone team and I really need help. When registering an iPhone with iMessage and FaceTime, the phone number is registered automatically along with your Apple ID email address.

if this is happening apple is trying to help you not exceedd your data limit. That only works is if the person you are trying to contact has imessage.

I figured out my problem...... I have custom text tones set up for certain ppl and had the default text tone set to "none" well with the iOS6 update it made it so if your default text tone is set on "none" then you won't hear what I call the send and recieve text sounds when in a converstation... if you change the default text tone to any text tone other than "none" you will get your send and recieve sounds back.... kinda annoying if you don't won't random texts from ppl waking you up... so I made a custon text tone that is called silence with just recording a few seconds of dead noise then edited it and turned all the sound levels down to 0 and set that as my default text tone.... now I have the send and recieve text sounds in a conversation and everything is fine! Sorry Nehucskter the first time I had this problem thats the first thing I did was reboot my phone.... first thing you do for everything lol....

If you intend to keep using iCloud on your iPad, your best course of action would be to update your Apple ID/iCloud information so that you have a known password and it is associated with an active email address. You may find the following articles helpful:

No that was not it. I was signed into my iMessages under my email address as soon as I signed out others can now receive my texts under my number. Thanks for the help though

Do it in settings the same way, except do it under "start new conversation from" under send and recieve. Make sure there is a check mark beside yoru phone number.

IMessage sent through iCloud email

I recently restored my phone to an earlier state from a few hours ago. After doing so, I sent an imessage to a friend; however the imessage didn't go through and kept saying "sending". I double tapped it and hit "send as text message" and it went through. However, after setting up my imessage setting on my iPhone and Mac, that one friend has been receiving imessages through my iCloud email. But all my settings for receiving/sending imessage's and facetime are to my phone number. The weird thing is, everyone else is receiving my imessage through my phone number, but only this one friend is receiving them through my iCloud and when they try to text my number it goes through as a SMS text message.
Does anyone know a solution for this? I have tried turning on/off my phone after I signed out of imessage and the app store.

I bought a T-Mobile iPhone a month ago and it was already activated when I got shipped to me. I didn't have to actiavte it.
Any T-Monile sim will show the T-Mobile logo when inserted and will show the signal bars . This is so you can use the T-Mobile data signal to activate if you have no WiFi, especially useful for iPads.

How can i change the name in imessage from the full email address used as apple id on ipod touch?

I used my full email address to create an apple id - but on imessage it uses my apple id as my name as sender + i dunno how to change it so ppl dont get a messsage showing my full email address!

Open the Contacts app. List All Contacts and find the email address used by iMessage. Select the email address and tap the Edit button in the top right corner. Add your name to the top two lines. Tap Done.

IMessage texts displaying as email- can't select my phone #

I recently went into the Apple store as my iPhone 5 was having some issues. One thing we did was restore my phone from the iCloud. Ever since, all my iMessages are showing to other users as from my email address.
I have seen prior suggestions to go to "Settings" - Messages "Send and Receive." However, when I go here my phone # is greyed out. I can't delete the email address.

I was able to find an answer from Apple- I needed to go to "Settings" - iCloud- Delete Account and then re-login into the account.

Where is the Start new conversations from??? When I go to Send & Receive, there is no where to add or set to receive at my phone number. There is only a setting to Add Another Email and my Apple Id is already there. No place or way to add a phone number to receive at. I also have a lasting Waiting for activation... under iMessage ON but no place for my phone number although it shows up as My number under Phone.

IMessage recieved as an email

All my friends using iMessage are saying when I send them a message via iMessage, it shows the message as coming from my email. When they try to reply to the message, they have to send it as an SMS. When I turn off my iMessage, they get the message from my phone number, as an SMS, of course. A friend told me to have them add my email to my contact information on the recipiant's phone. I was wondering if I could do something rather than telling all my friends to make the changes. I don't know anyone who has experienced this problem so I thought it might have been something I did wrong. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Check your settings: Settings>General>Messages> click on Send and Receive, scroll down to where it says "Start New Conversations From"....
If your email is checked there, then check your Phone Number instead.

How do I stop iMessages from showing up on both of my iPhones without having to have two seperate iTunes accounts and still be able to use iMessage between these same two iPhones.

My wife and I have iPhones. We share an iTunes account and we want to keep it that way. My iMessages began showing up on her iPhone and vise versa. I figured out to go to settings, messages and have only the send/receive checked for our individual phone numbers. When we do that however, we no longer can send iMessages to each other and it goes over SMS. I don't want that. I want to be able to send and receive iMessages with my wife without having to have a seperate iTunes account and without each other seeing each others iMessages to other iMessage users. How do I do this?

settings -> iTunes & App Store
click on apple ID listed there
select Sign Out
sign in with the proper account
from then on, when the store ask for your password it should be with the correct ID

I compose an iMessage with the destination as my email address and I attach 2 photos I want on my PC. I send them several times from my iPhone 5C but they never arrive. I look at my ipad later and realize that it's iMessage app is getting ( and swallowing) these emails. I then turn the ipad off. Still can't get the photos through because iphone is now getting them on it's iMessage. I turn off the iMessage feature and try to send photos from text msging. Phone tells me it can't send photos unless iMessage it turned on. What happened to regular MMS text messaging? I go and try to send photos as an email attachment and see that there is no option to attach from the stupid email program. I look up online to learn about the brave new world of apple attachments and send them.

Did not work. I've selected iMessage to ON and left it. After a few hours I recieved a message "activation unsuccessful. Turn on iMessage to try again". This has been going on for the past 3 days.
