My Internet Connection Dropping Issues...

I too am having the occasional Internet connection dropping issues.  Phone and TV continue to work.
Since I had Fios installed last November I am on my third ONT and 2nd router.  When I called in my latest drop yesterday the call center person told me I had a hardware issue because my computer had a valid IP address assigned.  I tried to teach her something about DHCP but she would not listen to me.  I asked her to please reboot the ONT and she refused because "nothing was indicating a problem with it".  Whatever...
Each time the Internet goes out the router acts fat and happy.  I have full green on WAN Coax, and strangely enough, a flashing green Internet activity indicator.  Logging into the router shows that I am MOCA connected and assigned a WAN IP address.  But I can't get out past the router at all.  On the event that led to me getting a replacement router the lady said she could talk to the ONT just fine, but not the router.  We reset the router and ONT port numerous times and the connection finally came back up.
I am not sure of the protocol between the ONT and router, but I think the ONT is keeping enough signal going to make the router "think" its happy, but then the ONT is not passing packets at some point.  After yesterdays call and the refusal to reset the ONT I just hung up on her and reset it myself.  Of course everything started working just fine...like I thought it would.
So what is the issue here?  Is MOCA a mess?  Is an Ethernet connection to the ONT better?  I am utterly disgusted with this miserable system and can't afford to continue having these outages.
I should also add the other wonderful features I have seen.  When I tried to powercycle the *new* router yesterday it decided to dump its entire config including my port forwarding.  Nice...  And I have given up using wireless because if I set the router for WPA it locks up so hard that it takes a master reset to get going again.
Anyone have some advice on getting this system stable?

I would try using a non-verizon router.  I used the Netgear router and it fixed my problem.  The Verizon router seem to be pieces of garbage and they over-hear.

  • Internet connection drops with new HH4....

    I recently signed up to a new deal with BT and had to pay for my HH4. I have it all connected up the exact same way as my HH3. I am receiving a faster connection now but am now getting VERY frequent internet connection drops....
    My PC is wired to the HH so NOT a wireless issue. I have checked ALL my microfilters and seem to be working. Nothing within my home has changed apart from the homehub. I used to be connectiong at around 6.5Mb, I am now connecting between 7.5 and 8Mb....
    9 times out of 10 the connection drops when I receive an incoming call.... but not always. I can make outgoing calls with ZERO issues....

    BT engineer was out to fix the line in February of this year. A new main box was fitted (which I was billed for) and he also fitted an iplate to the box to allow the hub to be connected without the need for a filter since they are built in.......
    an Iplate will not do away with any filters and they will be required on all sockets - unless you mean a filtered faceplate not iplate - 2 sockets 1 adls and 1 phone

  • Wired Internet connection drops since 10.5.7

    Since installing the 10.5.7 update I've had trouble with my Internet connection dropping while I'm using it. I have a wired connection and have checked the cables and the router port and there doesn't seem to be a physical problem. I'll be browsing the Internet and without warning it will suddenly stop working. A minute or two later it will have recovered. This happens every few minutes and it's very aggravating.
    I do not use a wireless connection and have turned off Airport.
    When the connection drops, I am unable to ping the router. If I run ifconfig I see it has a 169.254.x.x address. Once the system recovers, I can once again ping the router and the IP number is what the router assigns.
    I ran cat /var/log/system.log and here is an excerpt:

    I don't know if the problem is related to an incompatibility with VMware Fusion or not. I have both Windows and Linux virtual machines on this Mac. I'm not actively using VMware when I have the connectivity problem.

    New to this forum. Landed here because of airport issues after 10.5.7. update.
    Airport could not connect to my network, but it detected other networks.
    I tried some steps suggested in this thread but it didn't work. Then I looked into my router and disabled the "hide accespoint" option. That worked. Airport connected immidiatly. I restarted and still had connection. I then enabled the "hide accespoint" option, restarted, had to log in manualy ("connect to other network"), gave my networkname and password and until now everything works okay.
    Maybe the 10.5.7. update chanched something in the airport//router setting/visability.

  • Frequent Internet Connection Drops

    I am a loyal Linksys user.  Have used linksys routers for 3 years with no issues.  Have recently experienced internet connection drops from my wireless computers, while the computers which are wired, access the internet without problems.  I have 2 Lan connections (1 is a computer directly to router, the  other is a Slingbox and Tivo box connected through a Slinglink Powerline Bridge).  Wirelessly, I have 3 laptops and a Tivo box connected.
    The problem began with my WRT54G v1.1 and now is occurring with the replacement WRT54G v6.  The problem seems to be occurring with a conflict with the Slinglink.  If I disconnect the Slinklink from the router and wirelessly repair the connections on the computers, access is restored without any reboots of router, modem or computers.  Once access achieved, I can reconnect the Slinglink until the next drop.
    More information can be provided as I have been monitoring this for 3 months.  The problem is with the router and not the computers, Tivo, DSL modem or internet provider.  The only common issues appears to be with the Slinglink or it's connections.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

    hi....have u by any chance assigned a static IP address to the slingbox ??? in case u have , ensure that u have assigned a static IP outside the DHCP pool of the router ( default DHCP pools of the router starts at 192.168.1.100  and ends at 192.168.1.149) ....In case u have not assigned a static IP address to the slingbox , i suggest that u do so...input the following details ofr your slinkbox network configuration....
    ip address  - 192.168.1.25
    subnet mask - 255.255.255.0
    gateway/router - 192.168.1.1
    DNS 4.2.2.2....

  • Internet Connection drops when incoming telephone ...

    On 14th December 2011 during a period of very high winds and heavy rain an incoming telephone call caused the internet connection to drop and it eventually restored itself after about 2 hours. When I answer a call the internet connection drops after about 30 seconds and then reconnects after about a further 40 seconds. All incoming local calls cause the internet connection to drop. As far as I can tell incoming calls from other exchanges seem to be OK. Incoming calls from mobile phones sometimes cause the internet connection to drop. The line is unaffected by outgoing telephone calls. I have a BT HomeHub 2B plugged into an upstairs telephone socket and connected by ethernet to my PC. I have another telephone socket downstairs, each socket is fitted with a filter. I have have tried every combination of my two standard telephones and 4 filters in each socket and every local call causes the internet connection to drop and reconnect. I think it very unlikely that both phones and 4 filters have become faulty at the exactly the same time. I have connected the Home Hub and telephone with a filter to the test socket and asked a friend on the local exchange to call me and the internet connection dropped and reconnected as before. Since moving to this house 2 years ago I have had four previous interruptions to the broadband service all of which were caused by problems probably at the exchange. The last one took 8 days to correct after countless calls to the "Help Line". Their fall back position is always to assume that there is no problem with the BT line. So I am not even going to try to explain this over the telephone. This is the information on the BT Home Hub Event Log, it is typical for every occurrence of the problem.     not sure I read your post correctly but are you saying if someone from another exchange phones then the broadband is ok and it only drops if someone from your own exchange phones?

  • My internet connection drops

    hello there!
    ive been having this problem for a little over 3 weeks now. i have an ethernet dsl type internet connection with a cable and not wifi. ive NEVER had this problem with my ibook on this same internet cable but ive had my imac intel core2duo for about 3 months now and 3 weeks ago the internet connection would drop every now and again, like 5times a week and i noticed the only way to get the connection up again is to restart the compter. once i do that, the internet is back! so weird! however, the connect just dropped twice in the last 40 mins and ive restarted my computer twice to get connection back. why is this and how can i fix this problem?
    any help would be greatly appreciated!

     users that have internet connection drops, slow speeds and intermittent connections while wireless, then your problem might be slightly different then other users in this thread. 
    for Wireless intermittent and slow, you should try changing the wireless signal.  you can do that in the router.   open a browser, and go to http://192.168.1.1,  user name is admin.  and the password is most likely the serial number found on the service tag of your VZ router unless you changed it.
    Once you login succesfully, go to the top and hit wireless, then on the left basic security.   then go to option 3 which is channel
    1, 6 and 11 and are the only channels you should try.
    So it will likely be set to auto, change it to 11 and put the check for keep settings even after reboot (Directly under the channel) and then hit apply.,
    after you hit apply,  test your connection out, if you notice a difference, leave it like that until the problem happens again, and if it happens again, go back into the router, and try channel 6,     test it out.  and then finally 1 if the first two don't work.
    Also take a look at page 2 of Actiontec's Wireless PDF File.  It gives you some idea's with regards to position and orientation of where the router sits and how it can best be positioned for maximum coverage.

    Installed Bootcamp in XP Pro, found that the internet connection drops all the time, need to manually unplug the modem and the airport to reconnect. I'm using a wired connection, not wireless.

    yes i have done that.
    In OS X, the wireless connection works, but the wired connection doesn't. In WIN XP , both don't work even though it says its connected. If i reset the router (Airport Extreme), I can get the wired connection to work for a short while, then it stops working and if there are any other computers plugged into the router, they wouldn't work either. I will have to unplug all the connections and reset the router to make it work again. However, if i don't plug the iMac into the router, and use my other computer (like i am now) then its fine.
    so in brief,
    - if i use iMac with bootcamp, internet doesn't work
    - if i use iMac with or without bootcamp with another computer plugged into router, both won't work
    - if iMac is not plugged into router, and use another computer instead, internet works

  • Internet Connection Dropping

    I am a FiOS internet subscriber, and for well over a year I have been having problems with my Verizon router (MI424WR), where every month or so it would stop accepting new wireless clients and my wireless devices reported reduced signal strength from the router.  The only way to fix the issue was to cycle power on the router (pull the power plug, wait a few seconds, and plug it back in).
    A few months ago I started to experience a new problem, similar to that described in this thread, (I would have replied to that thread but it is locked now).  My internet connection now drops more or less once an hour but sometimes more often than that.  Unlike the previous problem, this issue affects both wired as well as wireless clients.  The conncetion resets after about 30 seconds, but any games, uploads or movies in progress are interrupted.
    Can anyone tell me what might be going on?

    It sounds like the router is going bad. You may need to get it replaced.

  • Internet connection dropping this week

    Internet disconnecting on a daily basis since Tuesday 9 June: This week, my internet connection appears to have developed an intermittent disconnection issue. Below are the details and what I've done about it. So far at time of writing this, Sky have yet to resolve this, and it's frustrating because I spend over £150 per month (and have done so for over ten years) with them. These issues have impacted a wide range of online activities, from streaming VOD services, work VOIP/Skype conference calls, online gaming as well as any internet-based activity. Setup:- Service: Sky Fibre- Router: Skyhub 2 (SR102), received from Sky at the end of March 2015. Previously used the white SR101 with BT Openreach modem for almost two years.- We have less than 16 devices connected at any one time. 10 is usually the very most.- We've tried replacing the modem cables, micro-filter directly into socket (unscrewing face plate), line noise testing, etc etc. (Faceplate is on master socket). Symptoms & diagnoses history:Tuesday 9th JuneSUMMARY: Intermittent internet dropouts begin and noticably. Call Sky support who dispatch OR engineer.Noticed throughout the day regular drop-outs of connection, spaced about an hour or so between eachother. The internet light on our SR102 box would totally go out. After about 20 seconds, the light would flash orange and then eventually turn solid orange, before turning white again. Sometimes after flashing orange, it would go off completely again and then eventually, after seconds (no more than a minute) it would start flashing and then become solid again. Most times it does reconnect first time but sometimes it gets into these loops as per below:- An example of an extract of the router log-file when it randomly disconnects but then finds it difficult to just re-connect and the light goes off again: syslog: Line 0: VDSL2 link down
    syslog: Line 0: xDSL G.994 training
    syslog: Line 0: VDSL G.993 started
     (This "down, training, started, down, training, started" loop routine would repeat itself almost like it can't find the connection? I could be wrong as I have limited understanding of what the log-files mean) Response: I called Sky support who, after a 20 minute line test their end called me back and confirmed it was an external fault and they would dispatch an Open Reach engineer to the cabinet within 72 hours.
    Wednesday 10th JuneSUMMARY: OpenReach engineer arrived. Didn't really find an external fault. Left and Sky closed the case.Open Reach technician van outside around 13:00hrs. By this point a couple of disconnects. In fact, I had noticed the van because I was going downstairs to have a look at the router as it just then disconnected again! The engineer said that he was at the cabinet and couldn't find an issue. I invited him in to have a look at our setup which is straight forward. We have a faceplate socket which Sky installed in 2013 and it is in the master socket. Until this issue this week, we've had no issues like this to-date. However the engineer suggested it could be an issue with our router?? Despite Sky already confirming issues externally.Response: Anyway he went away and then I called Sky support after a couple of hours. They confirmed the engineer's report suggested he did replace something at the cabinet, and the case was now closed. The woman on the phone also proceeded to suggest that it was a problem 'our' end. *Note* it's in the master socket, it's a microfiler installed by them, it's a 2 month-old router one of their latest models (I know it's not the best around) and we've not had issues like this really. Not recurring intermittent ones anyway. She suggested if it continued again, to take the faceplate off the socket and put a Microfilter directly into it and plug the router into that to test if it's the faceplate. Also replacing the modem cable which I did to no avail. Thursday 11th June:I was out for most of the day so was unable to probably monitor the line or use my usual services on this to see if any changes were made. Friday 12th June:SUMMARY: Still disconnecting...!Five times today, the internet connection has died. It happened during an important work call over Skype, it happened three times during online gaming on the Xbox and a couple of other times. There never appeared to be any regular event or theme which caused any of the disconnects (e.g. use of an appliance (interference), use of a specific internet service or a specific device suddenly being re/introduced/connected to the network. I thought it could be a load issue... i.e. too much stuff happening but it would do this when online-gaming on an xbox and pretty much nothing else happening on the network other than 2-3 devices connected doing nothing strenuous at all other than being on the wifi network!). I unscrewed the faceplate and plugged the SR102 directly into the wall with a traditional micro-filter. This didn't seem to work and still disconnected.Response: Called Sky support AGAIN. They did another 25 minute line test and, yet again, determined an EXTERNAL fault, relating to the "configuration" of the line this time.. Any thoughts on this? They have reopened the case and dispatched an OR engineer again... Fingers crossed, but not too happy. In summary:I'm no stranger to coincidences in combinations of faults in equipment like this....Can this be a degredation of both the original faceplate and the router itself?? But then two separate Sky support technicians (including a 2nd tier staff worker) have declared it an EXTERNAL fault?? I'm stumped, and frustrated.. I'm a bit miffed about this and if there are Sky support staff on these forums it'd be good to get a firm response as we spend in the region of £2,000 with you per year for your services and they are not impinging on my efficiency to carry out my business and social activities.  

    Right so, the problem is all sorted now. Below will explain what it was in the end, as I appreciate so many people have issues but then don't update the forum so it's less help to others trying to diagnose their own issues). Since my previous message (above), the following happened:- - That BT Openreach engineer must have fixed a coincidental error at the exchange in related to the Configuration / CI / Line card. After he fixed the issue, he made a note to say he reset the DLM on the line. The line was relatively stable for a few days but did drop a couple of times during the night (checked the log files).- After Thursday of the same week the line deteriorated to a near unusual point and the crackling on the phone line itself was getting worse. We even have dropped calls due to this.- Another call was put into Sky at the beginning of the third week of problems. A third external error , this time they called it "copper line impairment", obviously relating to the copper phone cabling. Apparently the very first call out cited this too. A BTO engineer arrived literally a few hours later at the green cabinet (three houses down from me), identified a clear fault from that end and then called Sky to arrange to attend our premises on Thursday.*At the same time, a brand new router was sent to me. However as you'll read below, this wasn't the issue so it made no affect*** All the while many drops on internet, almost unusable in all arenas - VOIP, online gaming , phone conferences, normal phone calls, downloading, uploading, etc. Because of the immense number of drop outs and because BTO number 2 did NOT fix the issue but decided to reset DLM anyway, our DL and UL speeds were decreasing by the hour! After a bit of research and having checked everything myself, I can only come to the conclusion it was our copper cabling (!!) from the pole to the house... as it is almost 50 years olf (if not older!). So far it's cost Sky (or however they work it out) about £800 for the BTO call-outs. I insisted on them putting a note on this fourth BTO engineer to say the copper line should be replaced otherwise we're talking about a false economy now.- Thursday of week 3 arrives. Fourth BTO guy attends. Absolutely fantastic guy. Knew his stuff but also just got on with it... Did all the tests, failed all of them. Determined it was indeed the copper cabling. Luckily we have a second line installed (unused, only installed about 10-15 years ago so current, clean cabling) so instead of reeling a whole new cable from the pole, we just swapped round the connections on the wall. He even put a whole new drop cable in and wired right up to our master socket with a brand new MK3 face place... All within 2 hours. By this point the DL and UL were still rubbish and decreasing still but the internet and phone line has never been more clear and stable! Unfortunately he wasn't a Broadband specialist so he couldn't reset the DLM.- One last call to Sky that evening and a fifth BTO attended the next day, did some quick checks which the connected passed first time, reset the DLM and it's not dropped once. DLM has since completed and we have a rock steady connection for the past two weeks. In summary:-- Replaced copper cabling from pole > house.- Replaced copper cabling (drop cable) from house > master socket- Replaced master socket faceplate (as a precaution) ... Replacing a copper cable which is 50 years old does not take a long time nor does it cost much in comparison to the amount of times I had to call them out at Sky's expense. Apparently a lot of BTO engineers like to avoid replacing cabling as it's the most frustrating part of the job. The guy who worked with us said he just gets on with it if it needs to be done. In short: If you've tried everything, consider the cabling. The reason why it was intermittent and then got worse was because this occurred during the hottest days of the year where the cable finally gave up the ghost. As it dried out from the rain, there were lots of gaps and chinks which weren't passable as it was when it was wet. Note re Sky service:-- We had some good tech support people. Though a lot of times I went straight to Tier 2 tech officials as I was a bit fed up repeating the synopsis of the issue every time I called as it got longer and longer each time! I did feel like a few of the times I was leading the investigation but then I am the customer and wanted it fixed the most. Just make sure you try all the basic potential solutions before contacting them (new cables, master socket, turn router on/off, line checks, if Wifi change channels etc etc) to save you going through those hoops. If anything, the weak link was BTO as it's real hit and miss who attends your house, how busy they've been that week and how much they really want to do the major tasks of their job description!! Luckily we had a great Line expert attend who was happy to do the major work required in the end. Sky then later partially refunded for loss of service for over three weeks....   • Internet connection drops after 1 minute

    Using iPhone 4, version 4.3.3 - I have been using wi-fi connectivity without issue for several months at home and other public locations. Currently having issues at new work location with keeping a persistent internet connection using company wi-fi. After device wakes up, I'm able to browse the internet without problems for 1-2 minutes, then when loading a page, will get the error that Safari can't open the page because no internet connection is available. I still have connectivity to the wi-fi network, and can get email from company Exchange server, but can't get access to anything past the company network.  I don't understand why it will work for a couple of minutes and then lose internet connection. 
    Any ideas?

    Hello and thank you for the response.  The only way I can get these iMacs to stay connected to the internet is via Static IP.  The previous post states that static doesn't work but I didn't fill out all the fields correctly, like DNS and search domain.
    Both Ethernet and Wi-Fi pick up an IP address via DHCP and after a few minutes the IP is dropped then a self-assigned 169 address appear.  With Static IP, we're good to go. 
    I've tried DHCP with manual address.
    Editied the location on network preferences.
    I've disabled "use passive FTP mode"
    I connected Windows machines to the same network port as these iMacs and there are no issues.

  • Mac OS X lion 10.7.3 Wi-Fi connection Drop Issue

    Hi All,
      I've iMAC OS X Lion 10.7.3 latest version desktop. For couple of months, I'm dealing with dropping wi-fi connection during working. I've look at all the forums and discussions and tried many things to solve the issuse, however, issue still exist.
       Every a few minutes, even during surfing though internet pages, wi-fi connection drops. When you look at the signal level etc.. everything is seems to be fine, but it is not possible to connect internet after close-open wi-fi.
       For a while, connection drop happens again.
       I do not understand why Apple does not give a fix for this while most the customer having such an issue.
      Any one having any idea how to solve this ?

    I have a similar problem.  My Macbook Pro won't keep a constant wi-fi connection, becuase it continues to seek alternative networks even after locking onto a strong signal.  I've reset preferences and started from scratch with all the settings and let the Mac set them by itself, but still it does the seeking.  At home I used to have a direct LAN into my Airport Extreme, but now I use wi-fi on 4G/LTE and I've tried the computer with and without the Airport Extreme, with and without a Cradlepoint, and with various channels and security levels. 
    As has been document probably hundreds of times in these forums, Macbook Pros (my model) and some other Macs have had this issue from either 10.7.2 or 10.7.3 (I've got 10.7.4 right now).  I'm glad you found a solution to your problem, but for the hundreds or thousands of us who've had this problem since last August with no solution from Apple, it's quite frustrating.  I know it's not politically correct to blame the computer when it's been given a defective upgrade with Lion, but let's call it what it is.  I'll side with the numbers.  Either a sudden batch of defective routers showed up from Taiwan, and a group of late 2008 and 2009 Macbook Pros bought them all en masse, or it's the software. 
    So if you still have problems after you get a clear signal, start sending messages to Apple to get it fixed for all of us.  I bring this up for you as an alternative, as I noticed you were running 10.7.3, and the problems started somewhere around 10.7.2 or 10.7.3.  Something to keep an eye on. 

  • Network/Internet Connection Drops

    I've been having this for a long while (>6 months) but it hasn't bugged me too much until now.
    Symptoms: Network/internet connection just goes away.
    When: After about 5-30 minutes that the computer is on (maybe longer sometimes).
    Activity: Anything to nothing. Sometimes it's been idle for hours and it just doesn't connect.
    Recovery: Reboot works every time. Any amount of fiddling with the network connections fails. Looking at the system preferences shows the connection is still valid. If I change locations, nothing happens. If I try to ping my router, time-out.
    I'm thinking it has to be related to an update some time ago as I don't have much 3rd party stuff in the mix. Running straight LAN connection to Linksys using static IP.
    Yes I know the Linksys and my cable modem are fine as the other 3 computers that I have experience no interruptions.
    This is starting to get very annoying.

    I recently started having problems with my macbook pro dropping internet (connected via Airport to TC). My iMac (also connected via airport to TC) had no issues.
    I run 2 wifi networks using TC, a 'full-up' network and a guest (internet only) network. So I tried switching to the internet only network - hey presto! no probs...
    So what is different between the 2 networks - well, I had started messing about with Back to Mac and remote login/file sharing between the laptop and imac. Although I had given up trying to make it all work, it was clearly trying to establish connectivity in the background, thus presumably interfering with the connection for internet that I was using actively on the laptop.
    After turning all file/screen sharing and back to mac off the problem was resolved. Luckily I am still able to access my TC as network storage between both my imac and laptop and I have moved back to my 'full up' wifi network......touch wood, problem resolved.

  • Imac;internet connection drops but other devices still work fine

    Hey Guys,
    I have an Imac 2.5 Ghz running Lion 10.7.5. My internet connection keeps dropping about every 30 minutes or so while my other devices (Mac book and iPhone 5) are working absolutley fine. This is resolved when I turn my wifi off and on, but only for about 30 minutes. Using browsers is fine this way but say online gaming is a disaster. I've tried several approaches, I renewed my DHCP license, which seemed to work for a while but after a few weeks the problem resurfaced and renewing didn't work anymore. I tried different DNS adresses but that does about the same as turning the wifi of and on. I tried rebooting the router too, didn't work and i tried deleting my network and forcing the computer tos tart all over again. I also tried chaning the MTU size, also with no avail.
    Any suggestions would be very welcome!

    There is a utility called iPhone Configuration Utility that you can download from apple.com - iPhone Configuration Utility 3.5 for Mac OS X (there is a windows version as well).
    You can connect the iPhone via USB to a Mac and try to connect to WiFi, the Summary tab produces a console log of the connection messages.
    If the unprotected access works, but protected does not, the hardware has very little knowledge of higher level protocols. It is unlikely to be a HW issues.
    Can you connect to other protected networks other than your home?
    Was an Diagnostics run conducted another of your devices?
    If you have more than one Access points, it may be worth looking at your configuration at home.

  • Internet connectivity drops when transitioning LTE/WiFi

    I have an iPhone 5S 32G on Verizon using ios 8.1.1
    Mail, messaging, browsing works using WiFi at home (known state).  Ride to work phone is not in use and LTE connected.  Get to work and phone connects to office WiFi. Internet connectivity (email hangs in 'Checking for mail...', iMessages do not arrive, etc.).  Ending apps (flick off screen) and restarting does not work.  Power down/up and WiFi again connects (and LTE) and internet connectivity is fine.   Go out of office to lunch (WiFi drop, onto LTE) and intenet connectivity drops again.  Power cycle, LTE comes up and connectivity fine.
    Note this does not occur every time (sometimes I can go from home to work WiFi OK and vice-versa.)  But it happens enough to be annoying.  Silly to have to power cycle on transition.  IIRC this was not an issue pre iOS 8.x series.
    I have reset network settings, rebooted, turned WiFi on/off to no avail so far.  Any ideas or anyone else seeing similar issue?

    I am having the same problem. My MacBook, iPad, iPhone, and even the PC all lose internet connectivity;but home sharing still continues to function properly on ATV2.
    I'm not too savvy on routers and modems, but could the problem be my router's capacity?

  • Wifi Internet Connectivity Drops

    So I have the latest generation Airport Extreme Base Station and a couple Iphone 4s devices in the household... They will both occasionally drop internet  connectivity, though the icon in notification bar shows the wifi as having full strength.  The only way to get internet connectivity back is to go into Settings > Wi-Fi and toggle Wi-Fi to off and back on.  We have several Macbook Pros & Apple Tvs on Wi-Fi in the house and none of them experience issues like this, just the iPhones...  So far I've downloaded an app called iStumbler to see what neighbors channels my neighbors Wifi was on and changed my AEBS 2.4ghz wifi channel from automatic to a channel nobody was using, but that hasn't seemed to help.  I've also completely factory reset my iPhone & AEBS and that hasn't helped...It feels like maybe this all started happening around 6.1 update onwards... everything was totally solid for over a year...
    Any thoughts?

    If you connect directly to the router with an Ethernet cable that would remove the wireless out of the equation. Then if the problem persist then you know it isn't to do with the wireless and something in either the router or ISP side of things.
