FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
3. Repeat the process if necessary.

My 4s when turned on just shows itunes icon against a black screen
This is for my dad. He recently completed the latest update on his 4s and his screen now when turned on is black apart from at the bottom the icon to connect the phone to the USB cable and the iTunes icon with an arrow between the two (meaning connect to iTunes a guess). I connected to my macbook and tried to restore but i still get the same icons and the phone is inoperable. Any thoughts?

My internet provider changed, so my username changed. I need to be able to reset my appleid NOT my password. I can't find a way to do this. Here is a scenario. I want to go into the app store to update apps, so a box pops up asking for my password, but shows my appleid as the old name. I have reset the appleid on my mac and itunes at home and works there, but when I try to go into things on the ipad, it automatically comes up with a window asking for my password, but for my old id name. I went to the manage your id section, but it won't let me in because it wants the password to the old name. So I think I need to reregister the ipad with my new userid. Icloud, Itunes, app store, everything like that won't let me in because they still show the user id as the old name.
On the iPad - go to Settings>iTunes and App Stores>Apple ID. Tap on your old ID and sign out. Then sign in with your changed/new ID.

Hi! I just bought a new laptop and have downloaded itunes and signed in. When I did this, my library showed all the music I have "purchased" from itunes but did not have the music that I downloaded a long time ago through itunes from my old CDs. How can I get that music to show up in my library now on my new computer? Also, will itunes still recognize my ipod on my new computer when I plug it in? I have a Dell with Windows 7 and an ipod nano, I think. Why can't I just plug my ipod in and "sync" it? Will that move my CD music into my library on itunes? Thanks for any help! Soooo confusing!!!

the About screenshows the version as 8.0 (M192-9/29/2009 [R]). The update option in the help menu is greyed out. So how can I tell if I am running version 8.01?This has been noted, and Adobe is aware that they forgot to change the Splash Screen and the Help>About.
Check the file dates, as that is the key to whether you have the 8.0.1 update.

My iPad2 works great now after IOS 8.1 Update
I did my iPad2 update thru iTunes on my iMac and it was sucking the iMacs memory very low during the update. Safari froze before loading the first web page and I did a hard boot and went fishing as I saw where it was going to take a long time to recover. When I tried again it wasn't quite right and then did one more hard boot and then did a Reset by going to General-Reset-"Reset all Settings" and it works real well now without loosing any data and in-home wi-fi clocks at 17Mbps download. Probably like most of you I’m sticking with OSX 10.9.5 Mavericks as it gets the job done very nicely and don’t need all that extra fancy stuff that probably will slow things down. -

After I downloaded iOS7 and my iPhone turned off I keep getting this message "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes." I dont wanna lose some stuff from my iPhone.
During a normal install of iOS 7.0.6 this does not happen but something clearly went wrong in your installation.
To fix this, connect to iTunes and restore to Factory. Hopefully your iPad will be working again and you can restore your iCloud backup during Setup. -
