Not trying to start any argument here, but if you would have checked the requirements for using an iPad with iTunes on a computer, you would have seen that Windows 8 is not supported.

Have you run it in a debugger? That will show you exactly what is happening and why.

It may have something to do with a conflict with any antivirus or security software that you may be running. I don't know if you've read this, but here is Apple's support article for Windows. You say you keep fixing the problem - I assume you mean by reinstalling iTunes?

I tried to upgrade my ipad from 4.3.3 t o6.0 and now my ipad only shows anusb cable with an arrow to the itunes logo and my device does not appear in itunes when I connect it.

i had rated som song as one star in my iphone, so when i connect to itunes, the rating should show, [when i select the music of my iphone in itunes]
i used to have it in old release but now i dont know why does not show .
i even made smart list when all music with one star will go to the list
but i can see the list in iphone but not in itunes when i connect it, [smart List is empty].
can please someone tell me why ??!!!
i manage my music manually, i dont like to sync. [it work before so am sure there is a way]
so please tell me how to get the rating when i connect my iphone .

Thank you for the suggestion. I managed to find the iPhone device on the iMac under "shared" rather than "devices". It works great.

How come the song and album does not show up on top of the new iTunes?

I just downloaded the new iTunes and when I go to play a song, the title and album does not show up on the top of the screen. The only thing that is there is the Apple logo. Does anyone know why this is? and how can I get it to show the song title and album.
The song is playing right now, but it is not showing up where it used to. (Where the Apple logo is)

Purchased music does not show in itunes. Only the artists

I purchased a couple albums on my iPhone. It shows the artist in the iTunes store and that there are 22 items, but it does not show the music for me to download it to my library.

Depending upon what country that you are in you might be able to redownload the albums via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage on your PC's iTunes, or on the current version of iTunes you can access the Purchased section by clicking on your name towards the top right of the iTunes screen and then Purchased on the popup
If they show there then click on the cloud icons on them to download them

IPad does not show in iTunes devices

I wanted to install iOS 4.2 but cannot get my iPad recognized on iTunes.
When I plugged the iPad into the MBP I get an OK tone as usual.
It has been connected successfully in the past.
I have restarted both my MacBook Pro and iTunes in different orders.
My AppleTV shows up on devices every time.

I have tried everything and still iTunes will not recognize the iPad. From the other complaints it seems this is a big problem for many of us.
My problems started when the iTunes v10 was introduced. I still use 9.2.1. I am waiting because I have an AppleTV1 and wanted to see how it effects others with the first version. I really like my older AppleTV and have many items loaded.

i tried deleting andstarting over again(e.g : Hay day) but still ! I'm reallllllllly getting sick and tired of this ... Not even to mention how many times the browser(Safari) has stopped working and froze since i started typing this message ....

you may need to update the particular apps that are causing you crashes. Go to the app store and tap "updates".
You can also do this via itunes, click on "apps" on the left, then updates on the top and update all. then re-sync your phone.

IPad does not show in itunes? Touch quit too?

After the last iTunes update my iPad and touch would not be recognized anymore in iTunes. I have tried all recommendations suggested. Not sure what happened? The only other thing I noticed was that neither the iPad or the touch were able to update the last time. This was before I updated iTunes.

Two very generic fixes/thoughts ..
Reboot your computer and reboot both devices and try again.
Disable antivirus software and try again.
