My iPad shuts down apps after a few seconds.

Since a few days my iPad shuts down apps after a few seconds, while I am active with them. It happens with games as well as Safari and while I am reading eMagazines. What can I do? I am using the old iPad.

Try closing all apps completely and then do a reset and see if that helps. To close all apps : from the home screen (i.e.not with any app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of each app to close them, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
To reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

New iPod Nano 6th generation just got it going today. It is fully charged but shuts off a few seconds into a song, what do I do?

I received mine yesterday as replacement for 1st generation and yes I had exactly the same problem.
I don't think it is anything to do with headphone plug [jack].
I played around with the settings and have just managed to listen to three hours without problem.
Music settings; shake to shuttle off, sound check off, double click - play/pause, audio cross fade and group compilation on. Can't be all these but trial and error as to which one - unfortunately it came without instructions.
The only other thing was that I had it in pocket while i was moving whereas yesterday I was sat at desk with nano at rest.

Just this evening, my new 23" Intel i3 Mac starts randomly shutting down after a few minutes each time. Thoughts?
Humm.... my first thought is that the new iMac's only come in 21.5 and 27" and the second is that your not giving us much to go on. You know things like, it ran fine for the first hour, day, week, month, I checked the power cord to make sure that the connections are tight, I followed the User's Guide, it was working fine until I upgraded the RAM, plugged in my printer, an External Hard Drive, I started having this problem after I downloaded xxxx, it fell off the desk, I dropped it down the stairs on the way from the car to the house, the UPS driver kicked it off the back of the truck, you know the basic stuff like that.

After updating to the latest version of IOS7 our ipads shut down randomly. Anyone else having this problem? Any suggested solutions? Thank you

iPad is relatively old device with the hardware requirements too low for comfortable functioning of iOS 8, that is the mail reason for a slowdown.

    Hi,
Is this failing with Error 20 ?
Sometimes in a the router or modem if you use Port Forwarding then you are your Buddy may be missing the Screen Sharing Port.
The Screen Sharing part uses a different port to the Audio port.
As the port for Audio (And therefore Video) are known and can be port Forwarded it is the random Screen Sharing port that can be the problem.

If you are not using (or your Buddy) UPnP then I would change the method of opening the port to that.

  • I am forced to shut down computer after a few minutes of use because of pixelation that freezes up the monitor. Possible solutions?

I am forced to shut down iMac g5 after a few minutes of use due to pixelation which freezes up monitor. Any thoughts on solutions?

You may have a problem with the video chip.
    Here is how to tell...
Shutdown your machine.  Hold down the shift key.  Poweron.  Bootup will be longer.
Wait awhile while you harddrive is being checked.
An article on how to boot into safe mode.
        http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1455
    Runs OK in safe mode...
Running in Safe mode leaves out some video drivers.  Which results in your machine not using advanced video hardware. As luck would have it, you can run the safe mode video drivers in normal mode.

  • My iPad is shutting down apps after 30 seconds--any thoughts

I have restored completely twice and have only a few apps but it keeps happening

    Try a System Reset:
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home  button simultaneously  until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if  it appears.
A System Reset does not remove any apps, music, movies, etc. nor does it cause any settings to revert back to default.
Also,   you might wish to download the iPad-2 User Guide.  Pay special   attention to page 162.  Note that this Guide also applies to the iPad-1 with IOS 4.3 except for those functions that are not supported by the   hardware.
    http://support.apple.com/manuals/#ipad
Finally,  the  User Guide can be downloaded at no charge via iBooks and a less   comprehensive version of the Guide is included as a Safari bookmark.

  • Safe Mode Shuts down computer after a few minutes

I am running on a Dual 1.8 GHz PowerPC G5, Mac OS X (10.4.9) - I want to start up the computer in safe mode, by holding down the shift key after the chime, and release it when I see the gray apple. The computer seems to start up in safe mode, fans are loud, taking a while (about 6 minutes), etc... then then computer just shuts off. Any ideas as to what is wrong here. I searched forums and I saw problems like freezing in safe mode, but not one like this.

... and if that doesn't work, then restore from the backups you made before upgrading to 10.4.9.
MacFixit put together an excellent tutorial on 10.4.9, too which covers most all the bases; and MacIntouch has a reader feedback report.

    Hi shazlacka,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your iPad is restarting unexpectedly, and you have already reset all settings and force quit all open applications, I recommend backing up and restoring the iPad next:

  • MacBook Retina shuts down after a few seconds after every boot

    Hi there
My retina macbook keeps shutting down after booting and rebooting by its own a minute later. No error message is displayed or anything like it, it just magically shuts down.
It had been working fine until now but it seems to be going crazy for whatever reason...
When it shuts down by itself, I can't turn it on myself. It does it on its own even if the lid is closed and then shuts down again after about 30 seconds.
This only happens when it's connected to a power source (it doesn't even start when it's not).
I have tried to reset the PRAM without success.
The only time the issue doesn't happen is when I do a Safe Boot.
Can anybody tell me what is up with my Macbook (I really need it for work AND school).
    Thanks

Have you done a SMC reset?

  • Why does my MacBook abruptly shut down shortly after being wakened?

This has just begun happening within the past two days; I've used my MacBook every day since 8/10 without problems. When I wake it from Sleep it abruptly shuts down either within a few seconds, or while I'm connecting to the internet, or at least within minutes of waking it. No Application needs to be or usually is running. Power cord and external modem are the only connects. My last third party download a few days ago was the latest update of Stuffit Expander. Apple Hardware Test shows no problems. I can start it back up by pressing the power button for five seconds or by Command/Control->press Power button but it sometimes shuts down again within seconds. What's the problem? TIA.

But I wonder if I could get some advice as how to
proceed at this point. Should I even bother to try
some of the prelminary fixes like resetting the PRAM
since nothing but hardware repair seems to work?
Should I even bother to call Apple Support first or
should I contact the Mac genius at the store where I
    bought it?
You should do a backup as soon as you can, since most people report that once the problem starts, it gets worse until the machine may become completely inoperable. And there's a chance that the hard drive will be wiped during repair.
Apparently most, if not all, Apple Stores will send it in for repair rather than do it in the store. I had my repair done by contacting AppleCare directly. They will send you a shipping box, and you pack your machine and send it in. This, and return shipping, is via overnight shipping, DHL or FedEx, in the U.S. The time to repair depends on availability of parts. Mine was done in 48 hours; others report delays of weeks.
I've owned an original iMac Rev. A since they first
came out and have NEVER had a problem with it
requiring hardware repair. I'm a newbie to this
    aspect of the game.

  • My ipad stops after a few seconds, says slide to power off/cancel.  What is the problem?

What could be wrong with my ipad?  it stops after a few seconds with "slide to power off" noted.

Settings are OK, but the internal power supply is on the verge of failure. Soon, you will not be able to turn the Time Capsule on at all after it turns off.
Take the Time Capsule to an Apple Store....if you have one near you....to discuss your options.
    Otherwise, contact Apple Support.
