My iPhone 4 is no longer recognised by my laptop, and no longer registers being plugged in to charge, even though it will charge slowly if plugged in and turned off. It's not a cable problem or a computer problem, as I've checked these.

Hey, over the past couple of days my iPhone 4 (GMS, Model A1332, EMC 380B - running on iOS 7.1.2) has begun inexplicably intermittently not recognizing being plugged in to charge or being connected to my laptop. As of today, it has complete stopped recognizing being plugged in to charge or connected to the laptop.
If I plug it in to charge, whilst it is on, nothing happens and the battery drains.
If I plug it in to charge and turn in off, it will charge very very slowly - though it will charge fully after a long time.
When I connect it to my laptop, nothing happens - it doesn't appear in iTunes, and it doesn't charge or recognize being connected to the laptop (there is no charging symbol, no noise from either phone or computer registering the connection as it usual did, or another sign of any connection between the devices, though, again, it will charge very slowly if turned off).
I've ruled out the possibility of it being a cable problem, by using a friend's cable and finding that didn't allow it to recognize being plugged into the wall to be charged either, or being plugged into the computer.
My friend's cable does work on their own iPhone (ie, when plugged into the wall with their cable, their iPhone acknowledges this and charges properly, and when plugged into my computer with their cable both my computer and their iPhone recognize the connection).
So, it's definitely a problem with my iPhone itself, but I don't know what.
As I say, it will charge very slowly, if it's switched off whilst it's plugged in, but it won't acknowledge being plugged in, and will only drain if it is turned on whilst being plugged in - and it will not recognize being connect to my computer.
Please help me figure out what is wrong with it, as this is beyond annoying and I'm literally banging my head against the wall - the iPhone is little over a year old.

try a reset of iPhone and then a restore,best, as new and if it then functions correctly try restoring with your backup

I have been having problems with my iphone turning off at anywhere from 80-100%, in fact I haven't seen it anywhere near 50%or less in about 2-3 months. Sometimes it would turn back on if I press the power button or home and power button, and would show the same battery % as when it shut off, but would die right away again till I charged it. Sometimes it wouldn't come back on till I put it on the charger. Last night I took it off the charger when it was 100% and went to use an app right awayand it died still at 100%. It has been on the charger sonce last night and still has not come back on, and yes it shows the lightning bolt like it does whenever it is charging, and shows no battery power. I have tried pressing the power button both on and off the charger, tried pressing the home and power button for 15 seconds, and even tried longer both off and on the charger, I have tried changing cords and the adapter, and different outlets, I have tried plugging it into the computer and it again shows the lightning bolt and low battery thing and itunes and the computer doesn't even acknowledge that it is plugged in. I'm confused as to what else I can try. Of course it dies after 1 year warranty is over.

I cannot imagine how frustrating this is for you, but it sounds like you have already taken some really great steps to troubleshoot this issue.
At this time, we'll need to isolate the issue further to see if it is indeed hardware related. The best step to do so will be to restore your iPhone, and set it up as new. If the issues persist, we have determined it is hardware related. If they do not, then go ahead and restore from your backup (iTunes or iCloud, note that the issue may be restored with your backup).

To make sure that this is not software related, set it back to factory settings, without using any backup data afterwards. Set up the rest of the personal settings manually and test the phone. If it still does not work, this is a hardware issue and the phone has to be serviced by Apple or an Authorized Apple Service Provider:

I have already replaced my iphone 5 battery a month ago under the Apple free battery replacement program. Butnow, it still have the same problem. The battery is not charging even it shows a charging icon. Instead of charging when it is plugged, the battery drained so fast and now the phone is battery drained. I caanot evendo a hard reset. While you're correct in that Windows media won't sync to the iPhone (or any i-device), the OP states that all the music is in iTunes. If its in iTunes, it would no longer be in Windows media format since it would have been transcoded to whatever the user sets as their import preference (AAC, mp3, etc.), and once that is done then the media should be able to sync to the iPhone just fine.
To Steph, do the missing songs play OK in iTunes? If not then they could be corrupted in some way. If they play fine in iTunes but don't sync, are they unchecked in iTunes? They won't sync to your iPhone if it is set to ignore unchecked items. Finally, if these are iTunes purchases, are they protected format? (i.e. m4p files) If so, is your computer authorized to play them? (you'd know if you try to play them in iTunes, it would prompt you for the account password if not authorized)

Check system preferences to make sure you have iCal and your photostream checkmarked to TRUE.
If you still have problems, give us more details.
Also, make sure the calendar in iCal you're using/looking at is not "On My Mac", but actually an iCloud one.

This problem is irritating me....?

To take panorama
- ensure that the panorama option is on
- press the shutter button once
- you will see a line with an arrow
- move around in a circle ( I keep the camera steady and turn myself around in a circle)
- as you do this you will see the arrow moving across the screen as it captures pictures
- at the end of the capture, you will be able to see your panorama picture

Well, the sleep/wake button is also the power button. If you cannot use it to turn on, then you cannot use it to perform a reset by holding it and the home button together until you see the Apple logo.Those are the only two ways to turn the device on. You can try letting the battery go completely dead and then trying to plug it in. After it has charged for 20-30 minutes, the device may come back on. But, without the sleep/wake button, there is no other way to turn the device on or off.

To make a long story short, I was having a boatload of problems with my Toshiba Qosmio X505. I spoke to tech support and they had me reinstall the OS and completely wipe the computer. All has been well for days until today!
For some reason every time my screen turns off (for power saving), I can't get my computer to respond. I don't know if it's sleeping, going into hibernation mode, or even the difference between any of that stuff but when I press buttons, move the mouse/touch pad, try the media keys, the power button, nothing makes my computer come back. I have to hold the power button and completely restard the computer to get back on again.
Why is this happening? It was working fine for days, but I think it has something to do with the last NVIDIA driver update I downloaded. That's the main change I've made to the computer yesterday and now it seems to be doing it. Does anyone have any recommendations? How can I make my computer quit doing this? I have all my black screen options off for now but that doesn't seem like a good solution for this problem it used to work fine.

hi, yes my new Qosmio X500/02G is the same when i set power options so my screen turn off after 10 minutes it will not respond with mouse or keyboard like before.
i bought this laptop as 1 year old, and it had a fresh recovery done when i got it, so only had the nvidia graphic driver from 1 year ago (version 189.00) and the screen will recover ok.
i then install the new 270.00 nvidia driver and now the screen wont recover unless i do a complete shutdown using a hard press of the power button.
looks like i will uninstall this new driver back to old ones.
also i notice when this new driver is installed, the driver will scrash for a few seconds where the screen goes black, and comes back on with message to say the "graphic driver stopped responding and has now recovered" so maybe this is also the reason.

*EDIT: ok i just revert my laptop back to the original toshiba nvidia drivers and all is ok now, no problem with drivers or wake up the screen.*

When fully discharged battery, it takes a long time before it starts charging.
Do not discharge at the battery completely !
Attention to high temperatures (sun, car, etc)
If that does not work try another battery or charger.
