My iPhone 4S gets stuck in recovery mode when i try to do a restore on it.

Itunes would extract the firmware (IOS 7) then try to put the phone into the restore process then the phone gets kicked back into recovery mode as if it cannot get the phone out of recovery mode. Any idea on how to fix this problem if there is a fix for it?

Unfortunately I have the same problem, since yesterday.

  • IPhone 4s is stuck in recovery mode but I don't want to restore!

I backed up my phone then tried to update it to iOS 6.1.3 and the update wasn't working so i unplugged it, hoping to start over. My phone is now in recovery mode and I've tried holding the buttons and nothing has worked. I DO NOT WANT TO RESTORE MY PHONE. I have important pictures on my phone and they will be erased. What do I do?

If the iPhone is in Recovery Mode, there is no choice but to restore.
    Notes:
In certain situations, an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch will automatically go into recovery mode after an update or restore issue.

  • HT201210 iPhone gets stuck in recovery mode when I update the software (last 3 updates and with 2 different phones) and I have to take it into the store. What's the problem?

I have downloaded the most recent version of iTunes to my laptop and am smart enough to have backed up my entire phone to my laptop before updating the iOS software, but this is the third time that a software update has bricked my phone (first an iPhone 4S then a 5) and I don't have the time to go to the Apple store and wait for my everything to restore. I am running Windows updates and will restart my laptop to retry the connection between my iPhone and iTunes, but looking for suggestions.

Yeah same exact problem as me.  EXACTLY.  In a way I'm glad more than just me are having the problem so I know it's probably not on my end and on the apple side....I HOPE that is what it is.
MAN, a whole day and a half????  Crap I need my phone to work....
I really think it's the apple servers because it errors 3014 right when iTunes says "verifying phone....." something....  It goes away so fast I can't read the rest, but I think that is the step where it verifies phone to the apple servers, which are overloaded, I assume.
It's gotta be that.  How many other people are having this same exact issue?

  • Address Book shuts down or gets stuck in "sorting" mode when I try to print

This is a new issue. I have been able to print mailing labels and list in the past, but now I am stuck. Also, I remember being able to choose the dimensions of my envelopes and such, and now I can't seem to find where to do that. I a concerned that maybe I don't have the right version of Address Book for my OS 10.4.11? I have Address Book version 3.1.2. How do I either get the right version of Address Book or fix this printing issue?

    I had this same problem...
Turned out to be one address that must have been corrupted in some way!?!
I went through my group and attempted to print one letter at a time (ex. all the 'A's then all the 'B's etc). There was no problem getting the labels to come up (without the 'sorting...' message until I came to the 'K's when I received the 'sorting...' message. I then did the first half of the 'K's with out the error and found it to be one address in the last section of the 'K's that was the problem. Once I fixed the address (all I did was clear it all out and then retype it back in) I was able to print the entire group with no problems at all!

    Hello Andyoneill9,
It sounds like you are trying to restore your phone but keep getting an errror message 3194. I want to recommend the troubleshooting steps from this article named:
Error 3194 or "This device isn't eligible for the requested build"
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4451
    Resolution
Important: If you see one of these messages and need help updating or restoring your iOS device, Install the latest version of iTunes and try to update or restore again. After that, follow these steps if you need more help.
    Check your "hosts" file
After you've updated iTunes to the latest version, you can check the hosts file to be sure your computer can contact the update server. Use the numbered steps below if you’re on a Mac.
If you’re using a Windows computer, follow steps in this Microsoft support article, noting that resetting the hosts file will affect software services that rely on hosts file redirects. If you're using Windows on a business computer, consult your IT department to be sure applications will still work correctly after resetting the hosts file.
In the Finder, choose Applications > Utilities.
    Open Terminal.
Enter this command and then press Return:
    sudo nano /private/etc/hosts
Enter the password you use to sign in to your computer and press Return. You won't see text appear in the Terminal window when you enter the password. Make sure you use a nonblank administrator password.
Terminal will display the hosts file. Navigate using the arrow keys and look for an entry containing “gs.apple.com”.
Add the # symbol and a space ("# ") to the beginning of the gs.apple.com entry.
Press Control-O to save the file. Then, press Enter when prompted for the filename and Control-X to exit the editor.
    Restart your computer.
Try to update or restore your iOS device again.
This is the first troublehsooting step to try, so there are additional things to try if needed you need them.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Regards,
    Sterling

  • My iphone 3gs is stuck in recovery mode. i have tried to restore using itunes but it ends with a message saying there was an error and couldnt be restored

hi  desperately need help. my iphone 3gs is stuck in recovery mode... when i try and do the restore via itunes it goes through the motions but when it gets to the end it tells me there was an error and it couldnt be restored...  originally it was an ex contract phone that i had opened to orange from vodafone.. it was fine until i tried to do the ios 6 update

There is a way to get it recovered from the so called DFU mode. Try to restart the phone while holding the home and power button at the same time. Then try to connect it to iTunes and do the same again. If you try that again till it works you should be able to use your iPhone as before.
