you cannot overcharge the iPhone battery. You can leave it plugged in with a full charge for as long as you want. It will not affect the battery at all.

My ipod turns off for no reason and the battery is fully charged
I've had my ipod for a week and have had nothing but problems with it! It turns off for no reason while listening to music and the battery is fully charged. It even does it in the car while connected to the fm transmitter/charger. Please help! Also I bought a movie from itunes and I can hear the movie playing but I can't see it play. Thanks for your help!
I've had my ipod Photo for almost a year and just had the same thing happen for the first time - it just stopped, fully charged, while playing. And, it froze up in the sleep mode. I followed the instructions to reset it ( toggling the Hold Switch on and off) but nothing happened on the first 3 tries. I let it sit for about 15 minutes while searching in the Help & Apple Discussions forum and, just now tried toggling the Hold Switch again and noticed before doing so, that it had shut off. I toggled the Hold Switch to the locked position (Hold) then to the unlocked position and it came back on!
I'm sorry I can't tell you why it happens. If anyone knows, I'd like to know, too. -
Hi! I'm just having a little trouble when it comes to battery charging of my iPhone 5 with its new iOS 7! It doesn't indicates that the battery is fully charge unlike the old version of iOS! I already read some reviews and discussion about this. They said that the lightning bolt should pulsate when charging but it's not!
Thanks for the replies. It took a while not hearing anything so thought I was alone. I have done many of the suggestions already. The key here is that it occurs on both phones with apps, and phones still packaged in a box.
A Genius Bar supervisor also checked his Verizon data usage log and found the same 6 hour incremental use. Suprisingly, he did not express much intrigue over that. Maybe he did, but did not show it.
I think the 6 hour incremental usage is the main issue here. I spoke with Verizon (again) and they confirmed that all they do is log exactly when the phone connected to the tower and used data. The time it records is when the usage started. I also found out that the time recorded is GMT.
What is using data, unsolicited, every 6 hours?
Why does it change?
Why does it only happen on the iPhone 5 series and not the 4?
Since no one from Apple seems to be chiming in on this, and I have not received the promised calls from Apple tech support that the Genius Bar staff said I was suppose to receive, it is starting to feel like something is being swept under the rug.
I woke up the other day with another thought ... What application would use such large amounts of data? Well ... music, video, sound and pictures of course. Well ... what would someone set automatically that is of any use to them? hmmm ... video, pictures, sound. Is the iPhone 5 succeptible to snooping? Can an app be buried in the IOS that automatically turns on video and sound recording, and send it somewhere ... every 6 hours? Chilling. I noted that the smallest data usage is during the night when nothing is going on, then it peaks during the day. The Genius Bar tech and I looked at each other when I drew this sine wave graph on the log print outs during an appointment ... -
Sometimes my iPad1 locks up and has the flat battery graphic after charging all night, but will not work until you disconnect the charger, then it reboots and the battery is fully charged and works normally.
It has only happened for the last month or so
Also, sometimes it drops out of apps, ie facebook etc. just like you have hit the stop buttonWho replaced the battery? If it wasn't Apple the replacement is probably bad also. Either that, or the logic board is bad.

HI there all, have got a 2 year old macbook pro that just recently wont start up. Even if I know the battery is fully charged. What I have to do is remove the battery, wait a minute or so, insert back in and it will fire up. Any ideas?
Try the old two stand-by's first:
Reset PRAM, and;
Reset SMC.
If that doesn't help, call back,

i left my 4s in the car for apprx 35 mins in 35 degree weather and the phone completely shut off and won't turn back on. the battery was fully charged. please help it is my only ways of communicating beyond my macbook
It probably overheated and shut down. Hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons until an Apple logo appears. This will take 10 to 15 seconds of holding both buttons.

I work from my truck. I use my iPhone almost continuasly. Is it ok just to leave it plugged into the charger all day? So the battery is fully charged when I leave my truck.
Yes. Charging automatically stops when your battery is full, & you can't overcharge.

My MacBook pro will not start up and it keeps beeping. The battery is fully charged.
MacBook pro went to sleep last night. This morning plugged it in to charge the battery. It will not turn on now. According to the plug and the battery display lights on the side, it is fully charged. It is also beeping every 5 to 6 seconds.
You have ram issues.

Is it ok to leave your iphone plugged in all day even if the battery is fully charged?
The icon over the battery changes to a plug after it has been fully charged so to me it seems as though the phone is running off of power from the cable. Am I right in this assumption or am I damaging my battery?
you cannot overcharge the iPhone battery. You can leave it plugged in with a full charge for as long as you want. It will not affect the battery at all.

I recently bought a new iPod 5gen and the iPod dosent hold it's charge it stays at 40 sometimes 20 percent half an hr goes by and it says it's fully charged once I unplug it it says it has 20 percent what can I do to fix it or what can I do about it?
- See:
iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
- Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
- Try another charging source
- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

My 4th gen ipod touch has started to quit right for no reason.
My ipod 4th gen has developed a mind of its own. Doesn't matter what I might be doing it will just quit and go to a black screen. Wait a few seconds and it will restart. I have upgraded to ios 6.0 hoping that the problem would go away, no luck.
I tried to do a restore and got a message telling me that it could not be completed. Tired a few more times same message about the server. Any help appreciated.
TomIf not successful, try the remaining actions of:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on -
so i had a full battery on my iphone and it just shut off and now it will not turn on it has no water damage nothing
Restart iPhone: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for phone to restart (no data will be lost).
