My iphone isn't charging

My iphone isn't charging , i tough that the problem is coming from the cable or the adapter but i tried them with another iphone and they were working , i think the problem is from my iphone or the charging place, I cleaned that place and it worked but now its always connecting and disconnecting with a simple move

Try to restart the iPhone. If it still doesn't work, restore from backup or restore as new device. Have you tried cleaning the charge doc. Use a toothpick, dry toothbrush, etc to gently clean out the dust/debris form the doc connector.

Try a different apple charging cable, a different computer, and a different wall socket. Clean out your charging port with compressed air also. Reset your phone, hold the home and off button down until the apple symbol comes up. If none of this works , then you probably have a bad battery.

  • Iphone isn't charged through car charger any more...

I have used a monster icarplay wireless plus for about a month.
It was OK as both charger and fm transmitter..
But it certainly stop working as a charger!
It's only recognized as a fm transmitter..
I exchanged it but still no go...
It works with a ipod nano though..
    Does anyone have this problem?

    Hi,
i'm in europe right now and last night my iPhone showed me the 20% warning message but i didn't had time to charge it, so this morning it's dead:
nothing happens at all - not through USB, not through the charger - tested it for about 15 minute each.
Any idea what happend and what i could try? I'm back in the States in a week, so i don't really want to believe that it is really dead - any chances that i'm doing something wrong?
If you had the "20% warning" and you failed to charge it.. it DIED!! Normally, when you run the battery completely dead..it takes a lil' while to start showing you the "battery icon". Instead of disconnecting it and trying to find where else to plug it.. Just let it rest for a while and you may see some results.

  • After I downloaded the ios7, my iphone 4s stopped charging.

After I downloaded the ios7, my iphone 4s stopped charging. Even with the original cables. I've tried pluging in it at the AC charger and two different computers and nothing. It seems that the phone connects and disconnects every 2 seconds.

    Hi jujuschmidt,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your iPhone isn't charging reliably, first make sure you've restarted and reset it:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If the behavior persists, try restoring the device:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software

If restoring is necessary, doing so should resolve the issue or isolate it to the hardware itself.
    Best,

  • IPhone 3G not charging and not being recognised by PC

I plugged my iPhone 3G into my laptop today to charge it, as the battery was extremely low and for some reason, it's not being recognised by my computer at all, and it's not charging at all.
I've tried plugging it into a powerpoint in the wall as well, and it still doesn't charge.
I plugged my iPod into my computer with the same USB cable, and it worked fine.
If I hold in the power button at the top, the battery picture comes up with a tiny bit of red in it and the power cable -> charge pictures come up underneath, then the screen just goes black again.
I've never had this problem before, so I'm not sure what to do.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem after the upgrade, but think I may have a solution. The problem doesn't seem to be that the phone isn't charging, it's that the indicator isn't showing that it has charged. Try this:
    1. Plug into the wall socket.
    2. Push and hold the power button, you should get a "slide to turn off" kind of message -- do it.
    3. Let the phone power off, and leave it that way for a slow count of ten.
    4. Turn it back on by pushing and holding the power button -- you'll get that black screen with the apple logo, don't panic, it just takes a minute to power up, you haven't lost anything.
When it came on, the indicator showed it was fully charged from the night before. My concern is that the indicator got hosed by the upgrade.
Try that out, let me know if it works -- and at your own risk. It worked for me as written, but I can't guarantee that will do the trick or not wipe your phone. I don't think so, it seems innocuous enough, just wanted to make sure you're aware there could be another resynch needed if it does do something else for you.

  • My iphone is not charging .. mine si iphone 4 what to do

my iphone is iphone 4. its not even showing apple symbol. what to do ..

    Hi parandhama,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like your iPhone has a blank black screen and isn't charging. The article linked below provides hardware troubleshooting suggestions and it also provides information about setting up service for the device, if needed.

Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?

    I hope this helps.

  • My iPod isn't charging so here is the story i went and plugged my iPod in and took a nap for 2 hours and when i woke up i go to my ipod and find that it is still on red it didn't charge 1 bit and it doesn't have a shortage no bent parts???

My iPod isn't charging. cauas on red so i took it and plugged the charger in the iPod i took a nap for 2 hours and woke up went to get my iPod and it is still on red which ***** cause we are going n a road trip i checked the charger and no shortage no bends and be aware it says it is charging but its not help?????

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPhone 4S wall charger specifications?

My iPhone 4S battery is acting weird lately. I tried various settings, tried restore, but still usage time isn't so good (up to 5h). So I wanted to measure capacity of battery somehow. Since there is no some software for that, I think of something.  I wanted to find out somehow, how much mAh is iPhone 4S wall charger, so that I could measure the exact time of charging from 0-100% and than calculate how much capacity is my battery. But I don't know how to find out hom much mAh does apple wall charger produce? Can someone realize this from this picture, or can tell me some official information?

All of the information is right there. Output: 5 V, 1A. If you can't figure it out from that you probably can't do the rest of the calculation either.
    1A = 1,000 ma
So if you charge for 1 hour the charger will put out 1 hr x 1,000 ma = 1,000 mah.
If you charge for 2 hours the charger will supply 2 hr x 1,000 ma = 2,000 mah.
But I'm not sure how that helps you, because the charging circuit in the iPhone is less that 100% efficient. The battery in the 4S has a capacity of 1430 mah. As the charger supplies 1,000 ma, it should take 1.430 hours or 1 hour 28 minutes to charge if the charger was 100% efficient. Suppose it takes 2 hours. What does that tell you?

  • IPhone 3GS Not Charging Battery, Says It Is

Today I noticed that my iPhone 3GS will not charge the battery. Everything about the phone works perfectly. It syncs with my computer, but it will not charge either through my PC or a wall adapter, all using independent cables. Everything has been working just fine until I guess it decided to not charge anymore.
When I connect, it makes the chirp and displays the charging icon. But the battery just goes down.
I've tried turning it off, resetting it, and restoring the phone. Nothing is helping. If anyone can help me, I would appreciate it because taking it to an Apple store isn't an option (I'm in Arkansas) and sending it off will have me without a phone for too long.

    I have tried that, yes.
I called AppleCare yesterday. I'm still in a one-year warranty, but they were incredibly unhelpful to the point that I am very frustrated with Apple right now. Because my phone is doing everything else fine and hasn't "failed" on me, the guy would not believe me. He says that since it's chirping and showing the charging symbol, that it is charging.
My phone finally died yesterday and just sat on the screen saying it needed to be plugged in. I get up this morning and somehow it's letting it turn on for a bit, but it's at 5% and going down fast.
My options were to send my phone off for them to look at, or they can cross-ship me a phone but oh, they'll charge me $500 to keep the cross-shipped phone if they determine my current one is fine. That's not a gamble I can take when the guy on the phone can't seem to understand that my battery isn't charging.
I'm so incredibly frustrated with Apple right now.

  • IPhone 4 not charging up - is this a common problem?

My iPhone 4 isn't charging and I wondered if it is a common problem, it's only a year old as I bought it from the Apple Store in New York.  I've tried different leads incase it's a problem with that but they work on my iPad....help what do I do?

If you have not done so, try restoring the iPhone.

  • I had to get my hard drive replaced from Apple, I lost all of my music obviously.  My question is, how can I get all my music off of my iPhone onto iTunes?  Since it's a new hard drive, the iPhone isn't recognizing this as it's home computer.

You will need to use third-party software to transfer music from your phone to the iTunes Library. I recommend Phone to Mac - Pod to Mac | Macroplant.com.

  • Why does my iPhone 4 not charge correctly?  Problem is definitely with the phone and not charges or chords.  Phone will charge but very slowly and no icon comes on.  Computer and iTunes doesn't recognize it a being connected.

My iPhone 4 quit charging correctly.  It does charge but very slowly and icon doesn't indicate it as charging.  I've checked cables and charges and the problem is definetily with the phone.  My car stereo no longer recognizes it as a device.  Neither does the computer.  The real strange thing to me is that when I plug it into my old klispch speaker dock it will play songs.  My battery life is good when it is charged so I don't think its the battery. I've tried resetting the phone and cleaning the charging port.  I'm out of warranty.
Would disconnecting the battery possibly reset it from some glitch or is the charging port got some bad contacts?

I checked with the Genius Bar.  It was a new dilema to the lady that was helping me.  She took it to a back room and worked on it but it came out the same.  She gave me some options for repair or credit for replacement.
I just kept the phone and put up with slowly charging it by plugging it in and then turning it off.
I couldn't transfer anything from itunes.
I finally got fed up and bought a new charging port for $10. and a toolkit for $3.  I looked up a video on youTube for the replacement and did it.
That solved all the problems, it was the charging port, must have been some bad pins or something because it patially worked.

  • My ipod will not charge from a wall socket but will charge using the same cable if the usb end is plugged into a computer or an airport power source. My iphone and ipad charge fine on the same cable usin ghte same wall plug in the same wall socket?

My ipod will not charge from a wall socket but will charge using the same cable if the usb end is plugged into a computer or directly into an airport power source. My iphone and ipad charge fine on the same cable using the same wall plug in the same wall socket. This makes no sense but I see that it has been posted as a problem elsewhere. This must be due to some kind of degredation of the Ipod. . It is not fixed by IOS resets as others have noted.
Has anyone asked Apple directly about this?

Sounds like a 'stuck' Shift key. You could try to take the key off and put it back on yourself (should be some info on that from ifixit) or just take it to your local Apple Store and have them fix it.
