Try plugging the headphones in and gently wiggling them around for a few seconds. It may be that the sensor that tells the iPhone that headphones are plugged in has gotten stuck. If this doesn't work, they try a reset (hold down Sleep/Wake and Home all the way until the Apple logo appears on the screen).

Yes I have put in the correct password, its all numbers so can't get it wrong really.
It has connected before as has my iPod and that won't connect either. I have checked that they aren't on the blocked list of the wi fi. Managed to download the new version of iOS and that hasn't made a difference.
I have the wi fi plugged directly into the computer rather than the booster hub as the computer won't connect to it when its in the hub. I did get the iPad to connect to the internet when it twas in the hub but once I upgraded the iOS it won't accept the wifi password in the hub either.

What you describe is pretty typical of system sounds being muted, with the exception of the fact that you still have sound in FB videos, but take a look at this anyway. System sounds and screen lock use the same pair of settings. When one uses the side switch, the other is controlled with a software switch.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the control center if you are running iOS 7. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get to control center . Tap on the bell icon and system sounds will return.
If you are running iOS 5 or iOS 6, the system sound control is in the task bar at the bottom. Double tap the home button and swipe all the way to the right in the task bar to get to the speaker icon on the left side. Tap on that and the sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock can be accessed in the same manner as described above.

I have an 'n' version Airport Express (1st Generation) and want to use it to AirPlay music from iTunes on my Mac to my HiFi in the next room. That's all I want to use it for. Have set it up to join an existing wireless network. However it will only work with an ethernet cable connected to the router. Loses the green light when cable is unplugged. As the hifi is in the next room I want it to work wirelessly, otherwise there'll be cables everywhere (as at present - ugh!) What do I have to do? What setting needs to be changed. Thanks.

I have a non Apple, older (Thompson) router. After a factory reset, and when going through the 'join existing network' procedure when sked for the WEP password you need to put a $ before the password...and hay presto...the set up completes and...AirPlay works! I suspect many might not have discovered this page of support information and will have been as frustrated as me for many many hours!

Has anyone have the problem to close Verizon wireless account? I have requested via customer service a few times already and still not be able to close it!

We tried to call Verizon customer services a few times requesting to close the wireless account since 05/12, but now we still have the account opening. We talked with the customer services, they first said that they can't close it and we have to wait until the next billing cycle, which is 06/04 to close it. This is ridiculous because we don't use it and have to pay the service until 06/04. The contract has already been passed. Other wireless carrier allows us to close it anytime and date when we want to. So, we don't know if anyone of you have any issue like this before. If yes, how do you resolve the issue? That's tight. Rule of thumb for a start up drive - the one inside the Macbook - is to have atleast 15% free at all times.
For getting rid of unnecessary stuff off the internal drive, I suggest you try Omni Disk Sweeper. It will give you a complete inventory of your drive, and purge what you ask it to delete. But be patient when it runs, give it time to do a full sweep.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Quit strange. I am quit well with computers, but this is really strange to me.

I finally figured out what was wrong. Since I had installed Google Chrome recently it already had the Adobe Flash Player imbedded in it.
When I uninstalled the flash player in Control Panel option the problem went away.

I reinstalled (many times now) but on starting Firefox goes straight to the safe mode dialog box. It disappears and nothing happens, no matter what response

Error message: "Firefox closed unexpectedly while starting" "Firefox is now running in safe mode"
If I choose "Continue in safe mode" or anything else, the box disappears and nothing happens. If I try to uninstall at that point, I get a warning that Firefox can't be uninstalled when it is still running.
I periodically get errors such as "The instruction at 0x77caf42c referenced memory at 0x77f1bc98. The memory could not be read. Click on OK to terminate the program.
I have run PrevX, SpyBot and Malwarebytes and none find any viruses, though PrevX found and removed one previously when I first started having problems ("community.heuristics" or something like that.
