My ipod classic won't show in itunes after a restore

My ipod classic would only show apple logo. So I restored it following the appe support instructions. Once this was done it said do not disconnect, ipod will appear in itunes. But it doesn"t and there is still the apple logo on the screen of the ipod.
Any idea ?
Thanks

Be patient please.
Your iPod hardisk filesystem need to be repaired
Use DiskUtility, select your iPod, click First Aid and press Repair.
However if you want to troubleshoot it yourself.
To change from diskmode to normal mode.
Disconnect the iPod from PC
press Menu and Center button for 10 secs till the Apple logo comes ON, then let go of the buttons.
This will bring you to Normal iPod mode, if your iPod harddisk and battery are good.
If you hear clicking sounds, during the reset, your iPod hardisk is dying.
Good Luck!

  • My i-pod classic won't show in itunes after a restore

Have you been in this situation where your iPod classic 80 GB was appearing in my computer as generic volumes in drive C/H: and your iPod was showing connected, Starts synchronizing when iTunes open up, then tells you it cannot read the contents of your iPod, Go for restoring and after restoring it tells you that it can not be restored as there are files that are used by other application. I have tried all the methods suggested by the community till today but nothing changed. I have gone thro’ all the following procedures: I am waiting for an expert  to come forward, who has faced this problem, and help me out from this mess.
    1. Try the iPod troubleshooting assistant:
If you have not already done so, try the steps in the iPod Troubleshooting Assistant (choose your iPod model from the list).
If the issue remains after following your iPod's troubleshooting assistant, follow the steps below to continue troubleshooting your issue.
    2. Restart the iPod Service
    3. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service
    4. Empty your Temp directory and restart
    5. Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed
    6. Change your iPod's drive letter
    7. Remove and reinstall iTunes
    8. Disable conflicting System Services and Startup Items
    9. Update, Reconfigure, Disable, or Remove Security Software
    10. Deleting damaged or incorrect registry keys

Well you tried 'everything', that I thought of, I would think that Antivirus is the main culprit or that install a Windows Plugin that emulates Mac OS X.
Anyway here is a helpful link from CHG, http://cahwyguy.livejournal.com/1220479.html
Read the 4th Paragraph on disk diagnostic, it may tell you that your hardisk is dying and need to be replaced.
    Good Luck!

  • IPod classic won't connect to iTunes after erase in disk utility

I think my hard drive is failing on my 120gb classic and so I decided to wipe it and start from scratch. Admittedly I rushed into the process and wiped it in disk utility without doing much research. Now it doesn't show up in iTunes but it is showing up on my desktop. Any ideas on how to fix this issue?

Hi I had a similar issue with my 160gb Classic
Went through many things with Apple on the phone all to no avail.
Took it to the Genius Bar and managed to get it recognised by iTunes and then restore....but when i plugged it into my MBA or IMac it was not recognised by iTunes and just appeared on the desktop..again.
Given that i am using Yosemite and iTunes 12 and reinstalled iTunes, Apple answer was to do a reinstall on my MBA!
Reluctantly i did this and it worked!!!!!!!!
It was recognised by the ancient iTunes9 before updating to 12 again and it was still recognised....
Just got to reinstall all my music, photos, documents.....at least i have my retro 160Gb iPod Classic to load everything on....
    hope this helps

  • IPod Classic won't sync with iTunes library on external drive

iPod Classic 160 is recognized by iTunes.   It knows the library is bigger than the iPod, and it allows me to select parts of the Music and Podcasts to install on said iPod.  It whirs for a long time, pretends it's writing to the iPod.  When I disconnect, there are no songs and no Podcasts on the iPod.
It did the same with a NEW iPod I bought yesterday.
How can I fix tbhis so I can write part of my library to at least one of my iPods?
    Thanks for any help.

After searching this issue out and trying a bazillion different things (with no luck), I deselected 'Enable Disk Use' then re-enabled, and everything is working now.

  • IPod Classic won't show up in Windows or iTunes?

I've recently gotten an iPod classic, and when I went to sync it to my iTunes, it wouldn't show up in iTunes or Windows. It won't charge either, and my iPod doesn't say it's connected. I plugged in my iPod Touch and my iPhone, and they both synced just fine and were recongized by iTunes. I've tried troubleshooting, uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, updating drivers, and even downloading older versions of iTunes, but to no avail. I hooked it up to another computer that was running an older version of iTunes, and it worked perfectly. I don't understand what's wrong, and it's really frustrating me. How do I fix this?

  • HELP!! iPod Classic won't show up in iTunes, and FREEZES when I try

Last night, I hooked my iPod Classic to my computer to sync it. It didn't show up in iTunes, and instead, it froze, quite suddenly. I had to wait until the battery ran down, then charge it up again(luckily, all my music and video were still present). Today, I tried once again to hook it up. This time, the "Connected/Eject before disconnecting" screen appeared, so I figured it was working(that didnn't happen last night, it just froze immediatly). Unfortunately, I was wrong. It still hasn't shown up in iTunes, and now, it's frozen again!
    WHAT is going on?

Ummm....ok, thanks for answering the completely irrelevant question that someone else asked, but how about dealing with the actual topic of this thread?!
Seriously, why did my iPod Classic freeze when I tried to hook it up??? It happened twice. It seems to be working now, but still, I'm concerned.

  • IPOD Classic won't show up in Itunes 9.0.2.25

Hello, Hopefully someone here can help me. I upgraded from Itunes 7.6 to 9.02.25. It looked like it loaded fine, I downloaded music to the library, but when I plugged my IPOD in, it dings, says "connecting" on the IPOD screen, but never shows up in ITUNES. It does list under my computer, for about 3 seconds, before it says "ejecting" and disconnects itself. I have tried everything at this link - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1363 - twice - including doing a full recovery on my computer. I tried switching the usb cable and port, I've rebooted the ipod several times - and in disk mode 2x, I also tried the troubleshooting here - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1493. Basically, I've deleted itunes about 20 times and reloaded. I finally thought, screw it and tried to load 7.6 back (i have it on disc, as I live in a rural area and couldn't freaking download it a couple years ago) but i just get an error that I can't download the 7.6 version as I have a newer library. BTW, Apple support basically said, Yep. sounds like a problem. Never heard of that before. What the heck is left to do?

Solved it. In my case, I had used a utility program I found in my Utilities folder called iPod Software Updater that I tried to updated the iPod software with... (it looked like it worked and then I used the restore function, which deleted all the music)...but it would still not appear in iTunes. Finally after a few hours of resets and restarts, I pressed the select and play keys for 6 secs and triggered a reset while I had the iPod plugged into the computer. Bingo...it showed up in iTunes and prompted me to download new software...which I did and now its back. Geez Apple, how did the iPod become such a killer product with an interface like this? So I assume this utility was for a different iPod model or older version OS.

  • IPod classic won't sync to iTunes

So I recently found my iPod classic (the newest generation) and everytime I plug it into my Macbook Pro, the device shows up, but then iTunes just gets stuck on "Verifying iPod" and freezes iTunes until I have to force quit or unplug my iPod and then everything is fine. It won't even let me get to the device page of the iPod. I have tried restarting it, but it hasn't helped. Any ideas?

    Hey krajuicy,
Thanks for the question. If you are having issues with your iPod, you may want to attempt the steps outlined in the following assistant:

  • IPod Classic won't sync entire iTunes Library

My iPod Classic 160GB won't sync any new songs that i have put into iTunes. When selecting sync entire library it only shows 2066 songs, when there is actually 2543 in my library. iTunes is iTunes version 12.0.1 running 10.10.2. Anyone help?

There are many solutions posted for this issue. Sadly, none work. They may APPEAR to work initially but after a short time, the issue will return. It's a software problem and Apple doesn't seem to be in much of a hurry to correct.

  • Ipod classic won't sync with iTunes 10.4

My ipod classic 160 does not want to sync with the latest iTunes update(s).  The same thing happened with the last update about a month ago.  How do I fix this?  The last time I put the ipod in disc mode and that seemed to work.  But it isn't working this time.  Any suggestions?  Anyone know why this keeps happening?
    Thanks.

    Hi Pharmer
I had the same problem and finally found out it was the Spotlight in Lion that was causing the issue of the sync failing as its trying to do two things at once. At least thats what it has been for me.
By going to System Prefs > Spotlight > Privacy and adding the iPod to the list I was able to stop Spotlight indexing the iPod every time I attached it to my machine and thus stopping it from being able to sync.
You can check if its doing it by attaching your ipod then clicking on the spotlight in the top right. If its indexing it will tell you.
    Hope this helps you out
Update: This worked to get my iPod full of stuff. Next time I tried, it won't sync, so back to square one...

  • Brand new ipod classic won't sync to itunes 11.

I just got a brand new 160gb ipod classic for Christmas, and when I tried to sync it with itunes it wouldn't work. I ran the diagnostics and it failed the sync tests, and apple's help/troubleshooting page does not give any solutions to this problem. I have the latest version of iTunes and my computer is a Windows XP. What do I have to do so I can sync my ipod?

I posted as other have that there is something wrong in iTunes going on with the syncing of these classics. First my wifes stopped being recognized in the diagnostics. It says there is no phone, ipod or ipad attached, but iTunes shows its attached. then I called my daught up and had her check her iTunes version and she is also at the latest version online. I asked her how long has it been since she knows she has synced her music...she said a week or so.
I asked her to download any podcast or free music and try to sync. Her Classic 160 did the exact same thing 200 miles apart. Both iPods previously worked with no problems for years. Now neither is detecable in the iTunes diagnostocs. I unloaded and reinstalled a clean iTunes on my wifes win 7 x64 laptop that she has used since the ipod was new (years). No good.
I know Apple is going to find a problem either with the mobile service or something else that is going to be the cause of this syncing or not syncing issue.

  • My 160gb ipod classic won't sync to itunes on a mac (I've tried everything)

Just got a 160gb ipod classic off of craigslist. The slate grey one.
It says "connected eject before disconnecting" on the ipod when I plug it in and nothing shows up in itunes.  Every once in a while the "sync" circulating arrows start up, then stops and goes back to the plug symbol.
    It isn't available under "devices".
I updated itunes, I restarted my mac, I put the ipod into and out of recovery mode (while plugged into itunes and on it's own), and still nothing.
Everything on the ipod works perfectly fine.
One thing to note, is the ipod is completely full. It has like 3kb of free space. Could this be part of the problem? Is there any way to delete directly off the ipod not through itunes?
Is it possible that it's formatted for windows and needs to be reformatted for mac? If so, how do I do that?
    Please help!

You may refer to this tutorial, it's about how to fix iTunes sync problem with iPod. Hope it helps. Feel free to email me if you need further help.

  • IPod classic album artwork showing in iTunes no longer in Ipod

    Hi everyone,
I have an iPod classic and until today, my album artwork always would show in iTunes and iPod Classic.  The artwork is now no longer showing in my iPod and the "get info" tab is not available for me in iTunes.
I tried ticking off the artwork in my iPod, syncing, then ticking again the artwork and albums, then syncing again and still to no avail.  Please help, I would be grateful if someone could give me a solution

Restoring is the function in iTunes that wipes a device, reloads the firmware and then lets you put back content. Yes, it deletes the media from the device but that should all be in your library, which in turn should be backed up. See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device and Backup your iTunes for Windows library with SyncToy if it isn't.
