My Ipod need a new battery. Where should I send it?

So I've had my old Ipod classic for about five years. (I got it in eighth grade and I have now graduated high school) And now the battery is at a point where it barely is able to hold a charge anymore. My question is how much does it cost to get the battery replaced and what is the address that I should send it to so that it can be fixed? I'm sorry if this isn't making much sense. It's nearly midnight right now and I am fighting off sleep.

You can see the cost here. You can send it to an Apple Store or an authorized reseller

  • Does my iPod need a new battery?

My iPod, when the battery is fully drained takes forever to start charging. When plugged in to charge, it keeps flashing the "sad iPod icon." It takes a almost a whole day to >START< charging, could this be a sign that my iPod's battery is finally giving out or is just broken?

Apple will do it for $79.
A third-party place like this one is less expensive. Google for more.

  • Why if I need a new battery will apple erase all my iPod files??

I don't understand why this is. Why when the Apple store guy told me I needed a new battery and I asked him "So all my files on the pod will be there when I get it back from you guys" did he say "No, it's going to be a NEW iPod"....WHAAA? Why is it new? Why can't they just fix MY iPod and send it back to me with the files intact? The battery shouldn't have anything to do with the hard drive files. It makes no sense, and I have a wonderful iPod classic 80 gig that's pretty much useless to me on the go, unless it's plugged into a charger.

Well Jeff, the blame for a new battery can be placed on my boyfriend. We were discussing a program for sucking the songs of one Ipod in order to put it on another (like what Yamipod does) because he had done it before, with a friend of his, but he didn't know what program his friend had used. Rather than call the friend an ask (God forbid!) he went out to Target, bought a crappy 20 dollar waste-of-money program in a crappy box called Tune Tools, and then when all was said and done, the program didn't work, and now I'm out a battery. Funny, because he also hooked up my old 15 gigger and his 60 gigger and they're just PEACHY. Of course because I use this pod like it was my oxygen supply, it's all jacked up. Now I'm so upset by this news of losing all my stuff (even though DB has generously offered to replace my pod as he SHOULD) I don't want to do anything at all but just use my old 15. The 80 gig works just FINE as long as it's plugged in to a charger, but the minute you remove it, 10 seconds later it dies. Which makes me being able to watch movies or show friends photos on the go...an impossibility now. Yes, I can use Sharepod (what we found AFTER this debacle to work just fine) and get my stuff back on my pod, but I also have to get some stuff off my father's mac, as I used it and iTunes way before I got this Dell. I'm just heartsick I guess. Blah.

    Hi,
    Try resetting your iPod:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430.
If that doesn't work, try restoring it:  http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414.
If all else fails, you will have to place your iPod in Recovery Mode:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808.
    Hope this helps!

  • I just got home from the Mac store where I was told I needed a new battery.  The charger cord is fluctuating betwee steady green and a light blinking green.  The problem is the icon read 31% charged.  I thought if the light was green it was a all charged.

I just got home from the Apple store where I was told I need a new battery.  The new battery is in, The charger light is bright green the icon reads 28%, and has flashed not charging a few times.  I thought the green light meant the battery was charged?  In fact the percentage is decreaciingand now the light is a light green flicker.  Is something else wrong?

The Apple store already told you what was wrong.

What model iPod do you have and what iOS is on the iPod?
    What is the specific app?
If you have iOS 4.2.1 or later on the iPod and there was version compatible with that version, then you should be able to get a compatible version by:
App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

No, maybe you should get one but the reset of us can figure out how to use the internet and complex things like Google.
What makes you think you need a new battery anyway? It should not be bad on an iPhone 5 and besides which Apple uses batteries from the same manufacturer that other makers do.
And stop shouting at us you are acting like a spoiled child.

Depends on how long you have had your iPod. Every iPod comes with complimentary, single-incident telephone technical support within 90 days of your iPod purchase.   If you also purchased AppleCare, then your warranty is extended for technical support and hardware coverage for two years from the original purchase date of your iPod. Or take your iPod Nano to your local Apple Store or an AASP.

  • How do you know you need a new battery

how do i know if i need a new battery in my ipod touch

Typically when the battery live becomes too short for your needs. However, some time the battery will suddenly dies and the iPod will no longer work.

The battery in the iPod is not user-replaceable. Take your iPod to an Apple Store or contact Apple Support and they can arrange replacement.

  • Do I need a new battery?

My MacBook is from 2007 and works great w.o being connected to the power source.  All of a sudden it will not turn on without being plugged in and it says 'replace battery now'.  Any better ideas than buying a new battery?  Do I really need a new battery?
I just upgraded to Leopard because I need that OS to log in to my work computer from home.  Could that be causing a problem?

If you have a MacBook with the removable battery you can get a new third party battery fairly cheap on eBay.

  • 2008's MacBook Pro needs a new battery?

    Hi!
My client said his four years MacBook Pro's old battery doesn't last long these days -- about 20 minutes and then shuts off. No warnings or anything. Even the status show 25% battery power left. Does this old MBP need to get a new battery or need to reset/fix the charge status? If it just needs a reset/fix, then what's the best/correct way to do that? Also, Mac OS X 10.5.8 has all the updates. If it needs a new battery, then what's the best place to get a new one in Los Angeles/L.A. or Orange County/O.C. area? From a local Apple store?
    Thank you in advance.

Or any Apple Store. Fry's, Radio Shack and Costco won't have them. Best Buy does, but speaking for myself, nothing could induce me to buy anything there.
Thank you. Is there a specific battery model to buy for this old MBP? Hmm, maybe it is just easier to go to a local Apple store and get a battery replacement and to get help (especially when bringing in the old MBP) from one of the Apple store guys (hopefully, expired AppleCare won't matter).

The model 6,1 Late 2009 and the model 7,1 Mid 2010 use an A1331 battery. You can replace it yourself or have Apple do it for you for $129. If you need it quickly make sure you order it from a U. S. seller. Orders from China can take two or three weeks.

Here's installation instructions. You'll need a Tri Wing Y1 screwdriver in addition to the usual #00 Phillips screwdriver.
