Okay heres the situation. The hard drive on my macbook crashed so I lost all my data. The only backup of my music is on my iPod touch. I now have a new computer, an iMac. How do I get the music on my iPod (which is not all itunes store products) to my itunes on my computer, without loosing my 4000+ songs? I cannot find any free backup software...or any Im willing to buy for that matter. Has anyone else been in this situation?any and all help greatly appreciated!

Google "Pod to Mac". This was freeware at one point and highly rated. It will allow you copy your touch back to your new Mac.
Now, go out a buy yourself an external hard drive and start running Time Capsule. You might also want to create a couple of partitions for your library and a disk clone of your hard drive.
