You do have iTunes 10.7 or later on the computer, right?

  • My daughters iPod touch won't sync, says apps aren't recognized, nothing syncs though

iPod touch won't sync at all. Only message is that some apps aren't recognized.  If I reset, will it sync? Or will she have a blank iPod because the "apps aren't recognized"?

Use the communities search box in the upper right of this page and searc for: "the apps can't be determined". Use the quote makes and make sure the wording matches what the error message says.
You will then find the previous discussions with the same error.  I do not remember the solution.

I had a similar problem, and i found that the photo was of very low resoluton. As a test I resized the image to a lrager resolution using photoshop CS4 and re saved it as JPG. I imported the new saved image and it seem to have fixed the problem.

  • Ipod Touch won't sync

I receive the following error messages when I try to sync my Ipod touch: "The IPOD cannot be synced. The disk could not be read from or written to." Sometimes I get this message when attempting to sync " Attempting to copy to the disk failed, the disk cannot be found." Or "attempting to copy to the disk failed. The device is not connected."
By hitting sync several times, it will eventually copy all of my music. All three of these messages have also appeared when I am attempting to download a rented movie from itunes. I've never gotten that function to complete successfully.
I have restored the Ipod to factory settings several times, I have reloaded itunes several times and nothing seems to work. Anyone experience this problem? Any suggestions?

I was stuck in the same situation. Everytime I tried uploading music or photos from my laptop to my iPod touch, an error message that said "disc cannot be read" would appear. I tried different solutions - such as restoring my iPod touch - but none of them seemed to work. Finally, I figured out that my laptop was just full of useless junk, so I did a disc clean and it went much faster.
Now, I can upload music onto my iPod easily. The error message still appears sometimes, but I just exit itunes and re-open it and it works fine. (I hope this helps...my computer might be different from yours but I dont know...)

  • My iPod Touch won't sync

I just updated my iPod Touch 4 Gen to iOS 5 a few weeks ago, ever since I have been having problems. At first my iPod had no album arts and if I edit the info of a song on iTunes, it wouldn't edit the info on the song on my iPod. It eventually sync my album art and the songs I edited after I added some new songs.
About a week later, when I added a few new songs to my iTunes, but when I tried to sync them to my iPod, the sync would finish, but the songs won't be on my iPod. It eventually sync those songs after I added a couple albums to my iTunes. (also I don't think its due to updating to iOS 5, but my Belkin charing cable stopped working, so I started using the Apple cable that I use for sync)
But after another week, when I tried to sync and it would backup and transfer purchases, but once it got up to somethin like "determining tracks to sync" iTunes would crash, and I would have to close iTune using Windows Task Manger. I have tried adding more albums, then I tried deleting some albums, it still won't sync. Now, after another week, its still has the same problem. But I can still add movies to apps on my iPod.
What wrong with my iPod? How can I fix it?
And also another question, when I tick "sync iPod via Wifi" or "only sync tick songs and videos" the music on my iPod decrease from 10.8gb to 10.2gb and my video stay the same (probably because I not have any video). But why does the music decrease from 10.8 to 10.2. I have made sure that all my songs are ticked and also iTunes says I have 10.06gb of music. Is there something wrong with that?
By the way I have nearly 1000 Purchased AAC and just under 400 MP3. The purchased AAC songs are purchased from iTunes, but they are purchased by some of my friends, not me. And my iTunes is iTunes 10.5, so it is up to date.

Thanks for trying, but unfortunately my iPod still has that problem. I try to restore my iPod but I still have that problem. But if I restore my iPod then sync then it will sync all my music on (but that takes nearly 4 hours, and after I sync my app are screwed. Today I backed up, then restored and sync it. Now I have 50 updates on the appstore (before I restored it there were only 3) and my layout was change to way I had it the last time I successfully synced it. Also some of my apps were delete, some apps I deleted were added (and it was random which apps got deleted, some I got months ago, some recent). So I had to redownload a lot of apps and update a lot as well, adding over another hour. So it would of took me probably nearly 6 hours to get new music on my iPod.
I hope someone or Apple finds a fix, 6 hours is way to long
Also I got another question, I my a smart playlist for New Released songs, I made it so that it was ordered by the most recently released, but when I restored and synced my iPod the Playlist was in a random order. Please help with that as well.
Yet another question, has anyone found out how to make it so that on my iPod the Recently Added smart playlist is ordered from the most recently added, my Recently Added smart playlist is still upside down from since I update to the ******** iOS 5
Lastly does anyone know good alternative for iTunes, I need something to sync music to my iPod since iTunes won't work for me. Also if I used some other program to sync music to my iPod would that mess up my iPod if I tried to restore it and sync it with iTunes.

  • New ipod touch won't sync with my iTunes

I am old time iTunes user who just got new Ipod touch. It starts to sync but at last step message is "Waiting for next stage" or something and it won't sync.  I tried everything I can think of. I have lastes iTunes version. My old ipod still updates and syncs works fine.

    Maybe this:

'waiting for items to...: Apple Support Communities
If not what did the message say?

  • IPod touch won't sync, Other Data keeps increasing

    iTunes version 12.0.1.26
    iPod iOS 8.1.2
I received a new 64GB iPod touch this Christmas. I've had several issues with it, but they were mostly just irritating and not actually stopping me from using the iPod (can't make new playlists on iPod itself, for instance). However, I've now had to restore the iPod twice in 2 days after the Other Data grew to over 26GB and I couldn't edit my music or podcasts at all. As near as I can tell, after the initial sync to iTunes any changes to the music on the iPod result in new Other Data. It's like the iPod is deleting my access to the music but not deleting/overwriting the actual files. So each time the iPod tries to sync to the computer and update any changes, it just adds on to the existing files and quickly runs out of space. Each time I try the various tricks I've found online that are supposed to force iTunes to recalculate data usage, it just increases Other Data. Even just changing from automatic to manual syncing causes it to double the "used" space. I can't add anything new to the iPod, it just stays greyed out and stuck on either step 4 or 5 of the sync, saying it's waiting for the changes to take effect.
Right now I'm trying another restore and hoping to get everything added on before it can decide it's out of space (data bar shows 9.44GB free, with all music, audiobooks, and podcasts accounted for), and I already have over 700MB of Other Data.

If you only restored from backup try restoring to factory settings/new iPod.
    If a PC try:
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

  • Ipod touch won't sync to computer

My sister has tried syncing her ipod touch 4 on my laptop but it won't sync to the laptop. (I have a Dell, Windows7). Now I'm having the same problem with my ipod touch 5. I just hear a "bing" sounds letting me know its connnected but it won't appear on itunes. It lets my ipod nano sync but not the ipod touches. We've tried them on another computer and it works there. I've tried reinstalling itunes and gotten the newest version but nothing worked. This appears when i connect my ipod touch
and then when i try updating the driver, this is what it says
Any help will be much appreciated.

  • My iPod Touch won't sync, charge and is not recognised in Computer

    Hi,
I have tried all the support suggestions on the Apple site, but my iPod Touch, that is less than 6 months old, does not come up on My Computer when connected, will not charge on the pc, wall charger or car charger, and will not sync. All I get on the screen, internittently, is the apple symbol - nothing else.
    Any suggestions?

  • My ipod touch won't sync with my computer.

I recently updated my ipod touch and all my apps were deleted off of my ipod; this was fine though as I had backed them up and they were on my computer.  When I went to sync my ipod with the computer, the apps wouldn't sync onto the ipod. My computer is an authorized computer. How do I get these apps back onto my ipod?
(Also, I'm not sure what other ipod touches look like in itunes, but under where it says devices and my ipod, there is no apps button along with the music, videos, etc. buttons. Is this normal?

If you  have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar.  Do you have the sidebar showing? Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar
Next try restorint the iPod from backup.

The music is not stored in the iTunes application itself. The music is stored in the iTunes Music or Media folder. This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2279 provides more information about where the media is located.
If the issue persists after updating iTunes, try the general tips in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1852.

  • What should I do when my iPod Touch won't sync because "the device timed out"?

Attempting to copy the disk "iPod" failed. The device timed out.
iTunes could not copy "a song name" to the iPod because a timeout occured.
Those 2 messages pop up whenever I try to sync my iPod. It's correctly plugged in so it's not the USB.

    Try:
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reboot the computer
    - Try another cable
    - Try another USB port.
