My ipod touch (4th generation) will not sync to my mac

I have not had problems syncing my ipod to my mac before. I followed the troubleshooting guide to sync the ipod to the computer that was on the apple support website, but I still have the same problem.
When I plug it in via USB it charges, but does not register in iTunes. Both my mac and my itunes have the latest software updates. I have tried restarting both my mac and my ipod and still nothing changes. Again, I have never had this problem before, so I'm not too sure what to do. Please let me know if you think you have an answer to my problem.
Thanks,
Kelli

So you tried everthing here:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
Have you tried another USB port?
Another cable?
Another computer?

  • IPod touch 4th generation will not sync with iTunes, but shows up in Windows 7 64bit(Acer Aspire laptop)

    Hello all, I am writing this message in the hope that somebody can help me to solve my issue with my iPod touch fourth generation. It has been unable to sync with iTunes, but shows up in windows as the iPod touch. I also had this problem with my older iPods as well (Ipod nano 4th Gen, iPod touch 2nd gen(Batteries done for that one)) I can sync music with iCloud, but I have a bunch of songs that are not in the store, and I sincerely want to add those, alot.
    I've checked the "iPod appears in Windows but not in iTunes" with the link here: (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1363), and followed that process, but to no avail, it does not solve the problem. I've tried to reset the entire ipod by making it enter DFU mode and then rebooting the entire iPod (shows up in iTunes in temporary mode) but once restored, does not appear in iTunes, but still in Windows detected still as a iPod, looks like the iPod and everything. I also have the most uup-to-date iTunes installed (10.5 I believe, just got it today)
    This is extremely frustrating because that is why I purchased the iPod (and for the games and apps, those are great too). The iPod was also purchased three days ago, and the setup still didn't detect it.  I am not mad at anybody here or the Apple company itself, but I have not found any help online with the browsing option (for support of course).
    Please, I would absolutely love the help, i'd be eternally grateful for it.
    -Tyler

    Never mind, turns out that by uninstalling the programs "Megakey" and "Megaupload" it had resolved this issue.

  • My brand new iPod Touch 4th generation will not sync with iTunes on my Windows Vista computer!  Please help!

    I have tried every trick in the book and read every thread on why my version of Windows Vista will not allow me to get at the iTunes Store.  I cannot even get this new iPod Touch to sync with iTunes.
    I've rebooted, soft restart, hard restart, removed iTunes and re-installed iTunes.  Nada...nothing!
    Does anyone else have the same issue and can they offer me a solution?

    hello my ipod touch 4th generation will not cut on or charge. i have tried the holding the home and lock button and still won'ty work. i don't know what to do. can you help me please

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Ipod touch 4th generation will not restore

         My ipod touch 4th generation will not restore. It begain with a random problem with the device. I tried to open a application but the application would blink a few times then would not open. This was so for ALL of the applications. I then powered of my device to try and reboot it. The Apple logo will apear for about 5 seconds but then the sreen will go black and the Apple logo will apear again. I tried to reboot several times and it did not work. I then connected my device to my computer but it would not appear in Itunes. The only way for the device to appear was for me to put it into DFU mode by holding down the home and power button for 10 seconds. My Itouch would have the connect to Itunes on it. It was then reconized by Itunes. Itunes message appeared telling me that i need to restore my Ipod. I tried restoring the Ipod, but after the update downloaded a error would appear while it was going through the restoration proccess.

    Ipod touch 3rd generation will not sync to my laptop, tried everything I can think of except getting new usb cable.  Does anybody have any suggestions?

    Well, even bought the usb cable today and that didn't help.  Guy at Best Buy told my son to reset the ipod to the factory settings; so he did and it wiped everything off the ipod and now he still can't get it to hook up to his laptop so no way to get anything back on the ipod.  Don't know what to do know.  Getting frustrated.

  • IPod Touch 3rd generation will not sync music

    My 3rd generation 32GB iPod Touch won't sync music. It will not even be able to start to sync. A message "The iPod "Cindy's iPod" could not be synced because the sync session failed to start." It was given to me in August 2010 as a gift, and it was bought from Costco in America. The iPod has been updated to IOS5. I am using a Windows 7 laptop, and this is the very same laptop I have been using to sync the same iPod for the past year and a few months. The last time I was able to sync it was February 26th, 2012.
    When I drag music to onto iTunes to sync it with the iPod, it will not sync, and the song is whited out and has the syncing symbol to the left of it (but not swirling).
    Everytime I unplug and plug the iPod back in to sync it, the songs I tried to sync from before are still white out, and they are still there even after I delete them (and unplug and replug the iPod back).
    I have tried restarting the laptop, reinstalling iTunes, and turning off and on my iPod.
    When I try to restore the iPod, iTunes won't let me.
    Normally, if this happens, I am able to permanently delete the none syncing song from the iPod music library, and resync it by dragging the file from the laptop and putting it into iTunes. I have tried over 10 times, but the same problems happen each time.
    Here is a  screenshot of what I am talking about.

    Thank you for your time, and I hope to hear from you soon.

    If you can see the iTunes Media folder inside your Music folder in your computer, put all your songs their and try resyncing everything in your iTunes. It should be able to work as that is what I did to this type of problem before. Hope it helps.

  • After Updating to IOS 5, My Ipod Touch 4th Gen will not Sync!!

    I updated my Ipod Touch 4th Gen to the ne IOS yesterday, and as soon as I did, I ran into a BIG problem. It will not Sync up with my Apple content on my Itunes what-so ever. I cannot even install any of my Apps, download my music, nothing! I do not even know what to do at this point!

    Contact a lawyer if you want to sue.
    Otherwise try:
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
    Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
    All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • IPod Touch (4th gen) will not sync music after the latest iTunes update

    I'm using iTunes on a PC with Windows 7 and after the latest update (iTunes 11.2.2), it will not sync with my iPod touch 4 (also updated to the latest possible version - iOS 6.1.6).
    Before the update there was no problem with the sync. And this iPod has always been synced only with this computer, and this iTunes library.
    After the iTunes update, several songs on my iPod were greyed out and unplayable (the library plays fine in iTunes).
    Now, when I try to sync, iTunes goes through all the steps, saying it finished syncing, without any error message but there is no actual change on the iPod.
    I've tried deleting all the music on the iPod, to resync the entire music library anew.
    Again, iTunes went through all the steps, finished "syncing" and nothing - and, of course, all the music on my iPod is now missing.
    When I check the "On this iPod" option in iTunes, the entire song list shows up there but appears greyed out and unplayable.
    On the actual iPod device, there is absolutely nothing in the Music app - no songs, no playlists.
    The iPod always shows "no data" in the Music app.
    Sometimes iTunes shows that I have 18GB of music on the device, sometimes it shows 0GB ...at one point it showed "no space available". But it has plenty of space - 23.5 GB of available space out of 32GB.
    To fix this I've tried the following:
    - automatic sync, manual sync, manually adding/deleting songs on the iPod, autofilling and replacing songs;
    - resetting my iPod by holding the (on/off and home buttons) and resetting through the "reset all settings" option on my iPod;
    - reset and restore from backup;
    - uninstalled and re-installed iTunes on my PC.
    - I've run the diagnostics tool in iTunes - all tests passed;
    ...plus various other suggested solutions I have found in the similar topics around here.
    (I've checked and there are no restrictions to the songs, the computer is authorized, etc.)
    Absolutely nothing works and it is very frustrating, as I usually only use the iPod for the music.
    Please help.
