Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Featurs appin the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

  • IPod touch 4g is not recognized in my computer as a portable device, help?

I have an iPod Touch 4th generation (4.2.1) and the computer it was initially synced with (a Dell Inspiron laptop) is no longer working.  I would like to update the iPod software via iTunes, and I have already transferred purchases and backed up my iPod, but now I need to secure my music before it restores my iPod and I am left with none of my music from my Dell laptop.
I know that I can easily transfer my songs from my iPod to a folder on my computer just as long as I can actually get my iPod to show up in "My Computer" under "Portable Devices".  But as of now, my iPod only shows up as a "Digital Camera".
Please, someone, anyone, HOW CAN I GET MY IPOD 4G TO SHOW UP UNDER "MY COMPUTER > PORTABLE DEVICES?"
I have been working at this for HOURS, I just want to update my iPod and keep all of my music, I don't think this is "illegal", nor should it be so difficult to simply secure music from a previous PC.
    Thanks in advance.

What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting this issue?  Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your PC? Have you tried a different USB cable?
What happens if you try to reset the device with it still connected to the PC?

Has this iPod ever worked on this PC or is this the first time you have time you have tried connecting it?

i  wanted to ask whether the camera for ipod touch comparable to a digital camera? if not are there apps available that can turn it into a digital camera? i want to buy an ipod touch and i like photography....what should i do? plz suggest

The iPod touch has a very rudimentary camera.  It has only a 0.6 MP resolution, no optical zoom, no flash, etc.   There is no app that can improve this as it is limited by the hardware. So it is not a replacement for a digital camera (nor even for an iPhone whose camera has a 5.0 MP resolution.

My ipod touch is not charging or switching on. What should I do?

    Try:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
If not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My ipod touch is not being recognized by my computer and gives no feedback when I connect it to my pc

Hi... I really need some help from you guys. My ipod touch is not responding whenever I connect it to my PC. It gives no feedback. The battery image that is shown when I charge my ipod touch doesn't show up unlike if I charge it using the wall charger. I have used different kinds of ports and I ended up with similar things. No response! . However, I can still use my ipod and play music with it. The only problem is its syncing ability is gone. I have only used it for a year now and the warranty that came with it is expired. I hope I can get a good answer from you guys. ThanKs!!!

I am afraid that the solution did not work... the ipod touch of mine seems really not functioning. It receives an electric isgnal from the computer but it doesnt sync at all... Whenever I put my ipod touch off and plug it to my computer it turns on but it doesnt sync... .. Moreover, I have used different PCs so as to try it syncing.. I have used mac book pro and windows 7 laptops but it gives similar feedback, which is NO FEEDBACK at all...

  • IPod Touch doesn't get recognize

Ok, here's the deal, have the iPod 32gig 2gen, nice of course.
Connects with my home tower computer, no problem
It has stopped connecting with my work notebook, IBM T43 computer
it gives the error that an iPhone is not recognized and to disconnect
and try again, to no avail...
    BUT
    IF
I disconnect from the internet, start up iTunes
AND then connect the Touch, voila, all is right with the world
AND then I reconnect to the internet and everything still works and syncs
I can also verfiy that version 3.0 is the most uptodate version as well
as getting onto iTunes store if I like.
    BUT
if I disconnect the Touch and try to reconnect, I get the same warning
and it won't hookup, I HAVE to go away from any internet connection in order
for me to work/sync to my Touch.
BUT at least now I've got that work around and can continue my life
It must be something in this particular computer, firewall or something that
is preventing it to be known, because on my home computer there isn't this
problem, of course I'm not always home and travel a lot so I really needed
    to find this work around.
This may help others possibly with the same problem, good luck to you all !

  • Ipod doesn't get recognized by my computer

Tried everything what was on the troubleshooting.
When I plug in my ipod(mini), i hear the sound you should hear. That confirms that a devices is plugged in.
But after that nothing. In Itunes there is no ipod icon, no new drive at "This Computer" and the ipod updater doesn't recognize him so i can't format the ipod.
Probably a lot of these threads but im too lazy to check them all out, so do you know what to do ?

I just had this problem yesterday...i actually know how 2 fix it (yea me) ok...so this is what you do...
    1. go to the start button on the bottom left of the computer screen
    2. click turn off...
    3. click restart...
    4. this does NOT erase your songs...it just refreshes the computers memory...

  • My iPod Touch Will Not Be Recognized By My Computer But By Others

I had my iPod touch on charge last night and then turned everything off. This morning,, I needed to charge my iPod so I plugged it and my laptop wouldn't recognize it at all. In "My Computer" and iTunes, and it won't even charge. I plug it in different USB ports and it still doesn't do anything. I try a different computer and it works fine.

  • Brand new iPod Touch is not being recognized by my computer

    Hello,
I just bought a brand new iPod Touch. I had iTunes installed since this is a replacement to a very old iPod. When I plugged my new iPod Touch to start the very first sync, iTunes crashed and started giving me a Windows 7 error (999). After many frustrated attempts to reinstall iTunes (and a few blue screens in between), I followed a recommendation in one of the postings to delete all the Apple programs in a certain order. It worked and I was able to reinstall iTunes. The problem now? My USB, which at one point kept asking for the software to install the iPod, won´t recognized it anymore. Period. I´ve rebooted several times and whenever I plug my iPod in any of the four USB ports, absoluletely nothing happens, as if nothing had ever been plugged in. I tested the USB with my blackberry and it recognized it. Please help!! Thanks!

Ok, I just figured out so I´ll post it here in case someone has the same issue. I turned off my iPod while connected to the computer. Afterwards, the "other" connection showed up again in the device manager but this time it stayed there without disappearing and with the exclamation point on. I then proceed with one of the instructions in this posting to install the driver for the apple mobile which then showed up in the USB section of the hardware (it was never there until now). Bingo! I got my iPod Touch to connect for the first time! But seriously, why should it be so hard???? I'm concerned with the number of postings here. It looks as if Apple is selling the hottest toys but not be the best ones in terms of quality...
