  • Ipod touch is continuously flashing from apple logo to lock screen

I have a apple ipod touch and it is continuously flashing from the apple logo to the unlock screen.  I can not get it to unlock cause it goes bak and forth. I am in the process of downloading all the updates to itunes so I am hoping that it will somehow fix my issue, but Im doubtful. Has anyone else experienced this and got any advice?  Ive tried restarting it and that doesnt work. I cant turn it off because I cant get the power off slide to come up. Any help would be great.

    - Try:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try the article again.
    - If still problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod Touch 2G 32GB with White Apple Logo and Failed Restore / Recovery

    My Specifications:
    iPod Touch 32GB 2G
    iPhone OS 3.1.3
2.8 Ghz. Intel Core 2 Duo iMac
    Mac OS 10.5.8
    iTunes 9.0.3 (15)
    Problem:
After updating my iPod Touch to OS 3.1.3, my iPod touch started having sync issues where it would say the sync failed. The backup files stopped being created and the latest version was over two weeks old (from prior to the updated to 3.1.3). After an application became unstable and crashed frequently, I tried to do a reboot by holding the Power & Home buttons until the Apple Logo appeared to begin the reboot process. After waiting for 6 hours, the ipod still had not rebooted but was frozen on the White Apple Logo screen.
    Troubleshooting Steps I’ve Take:
    1. Attempted to follow Apple Frozen iPod Touch and Common Issue Troubleshooting Guide. The iPod will not shut down using the Power Slider function.
    2. Restore via iTunes using the DFU Restore Function (Power Button & Home Button for 10 seconds, releasing the Power Button, followed by plugging in the USB cable while holding the Home Button down). iTunes recognized the ipod at the point and began the restore process. The process took almost 32 hours and when it was completed, the ipod would not boot up by remained with the White Apple Logo. My original attempt was with using a powered USB hub.
    3. Repeated the restore process but by plugging directly into the computer and eliminating all USB devices except keyboard and mouse. Deleted the OS 3.1.3 updated and made iTunes download the file in case it was corrupted.
    4. Rebooted computer between each attempt.
    5. Deleted iTunes and the Apple Mobile Device Services as per Apple Article HT1747. Rebooted the computer and reinstalled iTunes. iTune would not recognized the iPod Touch to do a restore using the DFU method. I’ve retried various timings and versions with the cable plugin, booting with the cable plug in and not plugged in, etc... No effect.
    6. Repeated the above steps on a MacBook Pro running OS 10.6. iTunes wouldn’t recognize the iPod.
    7. Repeated the above steps using a different sync cable. iTunes wouldn’t recognize the ipod.
    8. Unplugged the iPod and let it completely drain until the screen went blank for 1 day. When pressing home button the Low Battery / Plug In warning appears. Recharged the battery using a wall plug for 12 hours. Retried the above steps. No change.
What I’ve Eliminated As The Problem Via My Troubleshooting:
    1. Computer Hardware
    2. iTunes Software
    3. Sync Cable
    4. USB Conflicts
What I Need Is A Solution:
    1. Completely wiping my ipod is an acceptable solution at this point. I’ve spent a week working on this and wasted way too much time. Is my iPod trashed thanks to an OS update?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've ready each forum posting involved White Apple Logo Issues and have come up empty. Am I the only persons would is having trouble restoring?
    Thank you,
    Paul

More Troubleshooting Steps For Your Consideration:
I was able to restore back to iPhone OS 2 by using a laptop that had not been synced with my ipod touch previously. When I did the DFU with it, iTunes downloaded OS 2 and it worked.
Then I went back to my iMac and proceeded to install OS 3.1.3 and that seemed to work ok too.
I've been getting the white apple logo of death, however, when I try to sync applications. All seems well, but as it is finishing the ipod touch reboots to the White Apple Logo Screen and stays there. iTunes seems oblivious to this taking place.
During my second rebuild starting with OS 2 and then updating to 3.1.3, it worked again. When I tried to add apps, I only put on a dozen. That worked too. I did get the White Apple Logo Screen of Death once again and I did the third sync to get the rest of my apps in place.
I'm on the third rebuild from version 2. I'm going to try to use an old file I have of 3.1.1 instead of 3.1.3. Also, I'm going to add one application per sync. At least this way I might be able to find out if it is a specific app that is causing the problems.
In my further research, it appears that this bug has been in place since the early days of iPhone OS 2.
All told I've spent over week with my computers tied up working on this problem. I think it would have more cost effective to just buy a new iPod. (I'd rather wait for the 4G version this fall!).
Just in case anyone else has been having issues, that is where I'm at. I'll let you know if I figure this issue out in more detail.
    Thanks,
    Paul

  • Ipod Touch 2nd Generation stuck on Apple Logo loading up screen.

I have looked at many posts and nobody has found a solution which suits me.
My IPod gets stuck on the Apple Logo Loading screen when I turn the IPod on. Many say to reset the IPod, and so I do, and before long it dies, meaning it is unable to complete the reset.
When I plug it into the computer it dies not long after it stays on the logo screen, but when it is plugged into the wall it will just stay on the apple logo screen for ages. So could it be the IPod itself that isn't working?
ITunes cannot detect the IPod because the PC cannot detect it, and the reason the PC cannot detect it, is that the IPod has to be loaded and ready.
So I am running out of ideas, the nearest Apple Store is miles away.
I had it as a Christmas present this year, so its not that old.
The Apple Mobile Device service is fully working.
Any advice would be grateful, thanks!

Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

How long will my iPod service take?
If you choose to use the Online Service Assistant, or service via Apple Technical Support: If your iPod is not personalized, you can expect service to be completed within approximately one week from the time you send your iPod to Apple. If your iPod is personalized, you can expect service to be completed within approximately ten calendar days from the time you send your iPod to Apple.
Attention iPod shuffle customers: Service for iPod shuffle is performed by means of an express replacement program, via Online Service Assistant or Apple Technical Support. For more details, please review the Express Replacement Service tab on the left.
    Above from:
Apple - Support - iPod - Service FAQ
If it is caused by a hardware problem there is nothing you can do to prevent it from recurring unless it was caused by abuse like from dropping the iPod.
Otherwise make sure you ask apple how they fixed. it.

  • My Macbook Pro will not shut down, restart or sleep, with either Apple Logo at the top or the power button.

Hi, I have a 13" Macbook Pro with Mountain Lion, and I've had it for less than six months.
It has worked perfectly ever since I got it and I have been completely happy with it, until today. My computer's had a variety of problems; The screen has turned black three times now in the middle of me using it (actively typing or using the touch pad). After clicking some keys or swiping the touchpad, it comes back, but I cannot figure out why this is happening. The big problem, however, is that it won't shutdown.
I usually shut my computer down at night, and I was trying to today, but it just didn't work. I have tried shutting down by pressing the power button; no dialogue or question box comes up. I have tried shutting down from the Apple Logo at the top left of the screen; nothing happened. My computer won't sleep, restart or shutdown at all. When I close the screen, it goes darkens and lights up as usual, but it won't shut down! What's more, none of the options in the Apple Logo will work; for this post, I tried to see the About This Mac screen, and nothing happens. At best, the Rainbow Disc of Pain will appear and then just go away. The menu does pop up though when I click on it, my Wi-Fi is fine, the apps work, the keyboard's fine, the touchpad is great, everything works but that.
I have tried Command+Tab to see open applications; I have shut them all down till only Finder is left. I have tried click Force Quit, of course, nothing happened. Nothing at all, not even a dialogue box. I have tried emptying my trash, along with all the 'sketchy' applications. I have plugged my computer in, just in case. Nothing has made any difference and I am very worried!
I love my macbook pro, and have up to this point, but now I am extremely worried about it; all my important files are on it, and I have nothing to back up with.
    Please, please, please, please help!
FYI; I have avast! Virus Database. I cannot imagine that that would cause a problem. Please help me!!!

Yay! Solved my own question; just did a hard shutdown, worked like a charm! Funny, didn't before. But who am I to question salvation?

  • Ipod nano 4th generation switches between the Apple logo and the menu

I have a 4th generation 8 g iPod Nano that probably has about 1 hour of use since my wife won it in a raffle over a year ago. When I went to recharge it yesterday, the only thing that happens is that the display, when connected to the computer, flips back and forth between the Apple logo and the menu screen. Whenever either one of them appears, it will disappear in a few seconds, then repeat the sequence. I have done a reset and restore, and installed the latest software version but the same thing happens over and over again. If the iPod is detached from the computer, ie, its power source, NOTHING happens on the display. It black and you can't get it to show anything. My theory was that the battery needed to be replaced even though it wasn't used much in the year since she got it. In fact. the absence of use and recharging it and discharging it may have lead to this problem in the first place. However, my one issue with that theory is that, when connected to a power source, like the computer, I would think I could get it to function normally, which I can't. I was able to get to the "service menu" which won't disappear when I move about different choices, as long as its connected to the computer. Again I can get nothing if its not connected to a power source.. does anyone think that this problem could be solved by replacing the battery or does it seem like that is only part of the problem? Thanks for any help and suggestions you may have to offer.
    Geoff

Despite the Nano only being used for an hour or so, the battery needed to be replaced= problem solved!!

If there is no loading bar, it's usually a problem with a third party kext file in OS X itself.
You can press the power button down to force a hardware shutdown, then reboot holding the shift key down on a wired or built in keyboard, this will disable them and you go around and update your third party software.
Gray, Blue or White screen at boot, w/spinner/progress bar
Also take this time to backup your users files off the machine if possible.

Sometime that won't work and you need to do more
