My iPod touch is not charging. HELP?!

My iPod Touch is not charging or starting at all. i've tried all the USB ports I own, my docking station, i've tried resetting it, but nothing's seeming to work. I got this last year as a replacement for my other and this is the first problem i've had with it... I think it's 2nd gen. The empty/charging battery icon comes on every time I press a button when it's plugged in, but nothing else happens, it's been like this for 5 days now. Does anyone have any idea's how to make it charge? It's also not showing on my iTunes at all either. Can anyone help?!?!

I was a bit miffed to learn that my new iPod Touch does not support recharging via firewire-type connections. Indeed, I didn't even realise that there was any difference between the dock connector I use via USB with my computer and the dock connector connected to my car's audio system. But there is a difference, and I can no longer rely on my iPod to keep me entertained for long car trips.
The solution I've found is not cheap, but works. You need to get a third-party charge converter. I ordered mine from the people who invented it, in Sweden: http://www.ridax.se. I also understand that they will soon be available from CableJive (http://cablejive.com/charge_converter.html) in the States.

  • HELP!! Ipod touch will not charge or turn on

My ipod touch will not charge or turn on. I think the battery went dead, but now it won't even turn on or charge. My computer does not even recognize that it is plugged in. I have tried to charge it on other devices and get the same result. Can anyone help?

    TRY GEORGE GUERRERO'S ANSWER FIRST.
Plug it into the computer for about 15 minutes.
If it starts to turn on after about 15 minutes then unplug it.
As it is turning on hold down BOTH THE POWER AND THE HOME BUTTON on the itouch for 15 seconds, or until it flashes white or just turns back off.
Then RELESE THE POWER BUTTON BUT STILL HOLD DOWN THE HOME BUTTON.
    Then plug it back in.
The computer should reconise your ipod.

Get a replacement cable. If still under warranty, Apple will replace the cable.

My iPod touch is not charging, nor is it syncing with my commputer and iTunes. It will charge on the wall charger, and in the car, but not on the computer. My wife's iPod Nano syncs on the computer. I went in and reset my iPod Touch back to factory settings and now it will not let me get in unless I sync to iTunes on my computer. Well, it still will not connect thru the USB cord. Does anyone know what I should do to get this corrected? I want my iPod back.

  • My ipod touch will not charge, turn on, or appear in itunes, what can i do?

My ipod touch will not charge, turn on, or appear in itunes, what can i do?
When i plug it in to my compuer it shows an empty battery with the charge symbol then after a while it shows the apple logo like it is turning on then nothing happens and it goes back to the battery.

I haven't left it overnight to charge. Is there a difference between letting it charge overnight and an hour or two with no results? The ipod does not even recognize that the cord is attatched.
I left it on my dresser in my bedroom.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My ipod touch will not charge or register in itunes.  It keeps turning off and then showing the apple logo?

My ipod touch will not charge or register in itunes.  It keeps turning off and then shows the apple logo.  I have tried holding down the button and plugging it in.  It will show the red battery for a second and then turn off?  Any other suggestions?

I have checked for problems with the connections, but from what i can see with the naked eye, nothing appears abnormal. It is very strange, and very sudden. It just stopped in the middle of a charge. The apple store is my next step. I just wanted to see if anyone on here had some extremely eye-opening solution or check. thanks though!
I'm also within warranty, so it's not a huge problem.

  • My iPod Touch is not charging even while being plugged in.  I tried rebooting it and it's not working still

My iPod Touch is not charging while being plugged in the computer or the wall!  It shows that it is plugged in and it goes back and forth from the Apple screen to it being plugged in, but it's been hours and it's not charging at all.  This is my first time dealing with this.  Has this happened to anyone?

I just put it on an iPod dock to charge and it worked that way instead!  I guess it has more power charging it that way then a plug in the wall or plugging it into the computer.  THANK GOD!  I don't want to lose what I have on it!

  • IPod Touch is not charging or recognized when plugged in

    Hi,
Almost a year ago, I bought an iPod Touch 2nd gen 8gig. Everything has been working fine except for in the past month or two. First, the cable that came with my refurbished iPod stopped working; if I positioned my iPod in a very awkward position it would charge ocasionally. I had synced my iPod with that cord, which is a round head instead of square. So when it broke, I bought a new, official cord. That cord works fine when it's plugged into a transformer on the wall, but it wouldn't charge or be recognized on my computer or on iTunes when I plug it into my computer. I unwillingly bought another cord, which came with a transformer. Both my 2nd and 3rd cord worked with that transformer to charge, but neither worked when plugged into my computer. I've restarted my iPod, my computer, and I even updated/reinstalled iTunes. That made no difference, unfortunately. Any help would be appreciated.
I'm running Windows XP SP3 (I also have a Mac which doesn't recognize my iPod either). My iPod is 2nd gen, 8 gig, iOS 4.2.1 (which is the latest for that generation).
    Thanks

    - Try resetting the iPOd. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next look carefully at the dock connector in the iPod.  Look for bent or corroded connections as well as any other abnormalities. This assums that the iPod is works OK.
