Does it light up at all? If not, you could have a battery issue.

Dear Terence, Thank you for responding to my problem. In no way did I mean to discredit the dedication and work of the volunteers assisting Apple customers and if I did, I apologize. I am just so tired of having to purchase a new computer every other year as so it seems.  I know they are not perfected, but it is very frustrating when they just go kaput.  I am always the first person to appreciate a kind deed and do appreciate your support and help regarding this unfortunate issue. My iPad was the greatest computer I've had until this morning and was disappointed.  Again, thank you for your concern and for your help. It is greatly appreciated.
    Sincerely,
    Shakabird1

My ipod touch is not recognized on itunes and will not turn on or even give me the battery sign that it is dead. I turned it off and it won't turn back on now. The screen is completely black and won't do anything. I have tried charging it over night and nothing happened. It was never near water. I have tried troubleshooting it by holding down the home button and the sleep/wake button, but nothing happened and it didn't work. What can I do to fix it?

You may need to hold the sleep/wake button and the home button until the apple logo appears. Or anther thing you can try is draining the battery until the battery is dead. That's what i tried and worked. You may need to do those things more than 2 times. OH anther thing is you can try connecting you ipod to your computer and see if it appears on itunes. If those don't work you can send it to apple. So that's what helped me I hope I answered your question.

  • My ipod 4G wont go past the apple logo when I turn it on - it will stay on the apple logo for few min, then blanks out and back to the apple logo.  Tried reset option/troubleshoot several times.  Also wont show up on computer at all when I plug in to USB.

Any tips are very much appreciated.

Place the iPod Touch into DFU mode.  This will be similar to what the factory would do to install the iOS onto new iOS devices.
Placing it into DFU mode will allow you to "format" and install the current iOS for that device.
To place your iOS device into DFU mode.
First connect you iOS device to you computer.
Open iTunes if not already open
Now turn off your iOS device using the power swipe.
Press the home and sleep button on your iOS device for 10 seconds.
Release the sleep button but carry on holding down the home button.  For another 10 seconds.
Your iOS device should now be on DFU.  Click on restore and iTunes will download the latest iOS for your device.
Hopefully that sorts it if not, you will have to go to a service centre or call Apple Care up and get them to collect it and repair it. (replace it)  Or go into an Apple Store.

With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

Hmm . . . comes with a Utility MPEG2 Component ML app with no explanation of what it's for?
The utility app is an "assistant PKG installer." It allows Lion and Mountain Lion users to install the older QT MPEG-2 Playback Component installer PKG file which is not allowed to run on its own under Lion or Mountain Lion since these operating systems already have a QT X only MPEG-2 component embedded in the QT embedded structure. Without this utility you would have to either copy the component from an older system to your Lion or Mountain Lion system, use Pacifist for installation, or manually open the PKG contents and transfer the component to the appropriate component folder.
As to your "discussion" regarding the playback of AVI file types, there are really only two strategies here:
    1) You can add component support so that QT can play the files natively or
    2) You can convert the file contents to compression formats that are natively compatible with the unmodified QT component configuration.
Each user should decide for his or her own self which approach best suits their needs for a particular source file. In most cases, conforming the system's codec component configuration to play the source file directly results in higher video quality since no transcoding takes place but this strategy will not work if a codec which is required is not available for the user's operating system. On the other hand, converter utilities tend to support more built-in codecs and are easier to use since the user does not have to concern him or herself with the nature of the particular source compression formats but at the risk of some potential loss in visual quality. As to what converter to use, once again this is a matter of personal choice. In the case of commercial converters like iSkysoft, the codecs are built in while MPEG Streamclip accesses the host operating system's QT codec component configuration. I personally prefer the free HandBrake app for AVI, MKV, TS, MTS, and M2TS conversions since it has an exceptionally full-featured X.264 GUI with some user options that 97% of users are likely to never use.

  • My Ipod touch will not connect to itunes. It only connects to the computer, nothing else. I have tried everything that I can, but itunes still wont recognize it. I even checked the printers and drivers and it stated that my Ipod is now a digital camera.

I am not sure what I should do anymore, and I dont have the money to buy a new Ipod. Can anyone help me with this problem?

    Assuming a PC start here:

It is normal for the computer to recognize the iPod as a camera since thatis how one gets photos and videos off the iPod.

  • My ipod touch isn't connecting to itunes and takes all night to fully charge what should i do?

my ipod isn't connecting to itunes but still manages to charge but it turns off while charging and takes all night what should i do?

    Try:
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    or
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
    - Try another cable
    - Try another charging source and computer.
    - If iTunes sees the iPod restore the iPod.

  • New ipod touch won't connect, shows itunes and usb icons

My son just got a new ipod touch for his birthday. I have the latest version of itunes, and I have spent hours scouring the internet looking for a solution. Whether the thing is plugged into the computer or not, all it will do is show the usb cable icon and the itunes icon. When I plug it into the computer, my computer makes the noise that indicates that a device has plugged in, the ipod beeps one beep, and I get an error message from itunes that says that a rented movie from the ipod cannot be imported into itunes. Other than that, the computer, including itunes, doesn't acknowledge the existence of the ipod, not in the device manager, in itunes, in the itunes diagnostics tests, or anywhere else. In addition, the battery won't charge.
Also, I noticed that I do not have anything called "Apple Mobile Device Service," although I do have something called "Bonjour service." Are these the same thing or could this be the problem. Please HELP!

    See:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
You need iTunes 10.5 or later and that requires OSX 10.5.8 or later.

  • My ipod touch is not connecting to Itunes

I just recieved my itouch and it work perfectly fine until when i took a shower, and since my bathroom was condensed, i guess the water got into the itouch? (IT WAS NO WHERE NEAR THE SINK OR SHOWERING WITH ME) and the it would not TURN on at ALL the screen is totally black, no apple logo when i tried to press both the sleep/wake button and the home button.and it won't even connect to Itunes (and i've also pressed both the sleep/awake button and home button) and my dad didnt buy warranty for it. Is there any other way to fix this Itouch?

Hot or cold water condensation are issues for some Touches; it seems that the rapid cooling or heating can affect some machines, especially in extreme weather. Unfortunately, Apple repairs can rival the cost of a new unit in some cases.
Pick the brains of these guys http://www.ipodjuice.com/apple-ipod-repair.htm for independent info. At the very least, you can scope out your repair options, and they would be able to crack open the unit safely. (The metal cover requires more care than you might think.)
There's an inexperienced user can safely do by himself, though some might be tempted to open it up and let the dry air in. Leave it for the pro's.
