My ipod touch suddenly stopped charging when connected to my iHome audio system.

My iPod touch suddenly stopped charging when connected to my iHome audio.  I downloaded the newest update to iTunes and then when I plugged my iTouch into my iHome a message popped up that said the iPod touch was unable to charge on the device.

- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod and dock for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
- Contact iHome. Maybe there is a firmware update for the dock. Sometimes an iOS update breks compatibility. However, sometimes the following works
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • How come the iPod Touch doesn't charge when connected to an USB extension?

I have it plug it directly into the iMac, I can't plug it into an extension cable connected to the iMac. My older iPod Touch charged just fine using the USB extender, but my new one refuses to charge unless it's directly connected to the iMac. Why would Apple change how the iPod charges? Those extension cables are useful when you need to switch out USB devices, since the ports are all in the back of the unit.

I noticed the same thing happened with my iPod touch. It wouldn't charge on my iMac but when I connected it to my Macbook it started up right away. The difference being, I think, is not the computers but the usb hubs. The one on my Macbook has its own power supply where as the one on my iMac doesn't. Try that. Maybe the usb hub just needs to have its own power supply in order for the iPod touch to charge. So if that's the case then the usb extension cable probably won't work at all.

My iPod touch suddenly stopped working. It was fine earlier, but when I went back a few hours later, the screen had gone black and I was unable to turn it on. It is now unresponsive and my computer does not recognize it when it is plugged in. I thought it just needed to be charged but there seems to be a larger issue now. What should I do?

Let your ipod die. Then when it is dead charge it adn turn it back on. After that it should be fine.

  • Ipod Touch will not charge or connect to Itune, keeps reverting to apple logo?

My Ipod Touch will not charge or connect to Itunes/computer
Ipod switchs on charge logo appears then switchs to apple logo

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Plz help! my ipod no longer gets charged when connected to my computer

as the topic suggests, my ipod with video(5.5G) always shows that its fully charged when connected to my computer. but it wasn't like this a period of time ago, i wonder why. plz help me. i now dare not to transport more than 1g files to my ipod in case it would run out of battery and sth worse may follow...
since my computer is old with a celeronA 533(overclocked to 760, not a big difference), i closed lots of the system services which i think are useless, maybe that's the problem? but which service should i start? ipodservice.exe is always running when i connect my ipod with my pc
btw, i must say sorry with my poor english, hope you understand what i mean

If you mean that when plugged in it shows the iPod being fully charged but when you disconnect the battery is actually dead, then you probably have a defective battery.

  • Ipod Touch suddenly stopped being connected to Wifi how do I fix?

I got a Ipod Touch for Christmas and the Internet has worked great on it and now it just suddenly stopped connecting to the Wifi on my laptop and need help fixing. What can I do to get it up and running again? Thanks!

    - Also try resetting the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Also, power off and then back on the router.
From your wording, are you using the laptop as a router? Is it working OK?

  • My ipod touch will not charge or connect via usb

When i plug in my ipod touch, it only recognizes that it is plugged in for a few seconds at a time. Therefore, it will not charge, and this occurs no matter what cable i use with it, whether i plug it into my computer, or into the wall with an adapter. I also cannot use itunes with it because of this. I have already looked through the forums for other people having the same problem, but most of them just got useless answers such as checking the troubleshooting guide. I would prefer a "REAL" answer to this. To be completely honest, all that the troubleshooting guide tells you is how to do an idiot-check on yourself. I have only had the ipod for a few months, two at the most, so a depleted number of recharges in the battery is highly unlikely, especially since the computer also will not recognize it. An error message comes up saying that it does not recognize the device. Thanks for any help!

I have checked for problems with the connections, but from what i can see with the naked eye, nothing appears abnormal. It is very strange, and very sudden. It just stopped in the middle of a charge. The apple store is my next step. I just wanted to see if anyone on here had some extremely eye-opening solution or check. thanks though!
I'm also within warranty, so it's not a huge problem.

  • IPod Touch 2G electronic discharge when connecting

    Hello,
I just wanted to connect my iPod Touch 2G to my PC to put some music on when suddenly i was getting an electrical discharge. I felt the charge coming from the cable trough my finger. This happend before, when i was using a dock. Thought it was the dock but now it happend to the offical cable as well.
At this moment my iPod has a full battery, but when it's empty i want to charge it up. But with this problem i'm scared, getting another shock. Really frustrating this.
What should i do? Somebody knows this problem? Has an solution for it. I would be verry grateful.
    Kind Regards,
    Mark from The Netherlands

Thank you for your quick answer.
The PC cable is not in an grounded hole in the wall (in dutch we call this 'stopcontact'). In a few minuten im going to check if the cables inside the PC are good.
And, i didn't get this everytime i connect my iPod. A few weeks ago i had the same thing when i used the docks. Now, i think 3 weeks later this happend. Someone here got the same problem? How did you fix this?

  • Ipod touch 5 gen freezes when connected to car stereo

I have a new ipod touch 5 gen that works perfectly until it is connected to my car stereo. Actually, it works fine for an hour or so, when suddenly the sound stops and the ipod screen is frozen blue screen or a blank screen with a glowing center. The connection is via cable from the radio to a 30 pin connector adapted to the lightning connector with apple's adaptor. Fortunately I've been able to restore after each instance, but the second time the screen was flickering and It took two restore sessions to get things stabilized. I don't want to fry this expensive toy, but I would like to use it for music in my car.

Do you know if other people have the same problem? Maybe your car (stereo) is incompatible with the iPod? Do you have to restore it or do you can use it anyway after a freeze? If no, make a reset before restoring it) I'm sure the cable/adapter isn't the problem.
And with the "glowing center" - you mean the Apple Logo, right?

  • My ipod touch will not charge when I use the FM transmitter.

I have a FM ransmitter that will play music when I attach my 3rd generation ipod touch but it will not charge it.  But I receive an error message that my ipod doesn't support this device.  I use an adapter but it doesn't work.  I've used this adapter in the past with other FM transmitters and it would charge my ipod.  Thank you.

I have the same problem, my ipod connects to various wifi networs supplying internet to other devices but I cannot use safari... pages connect/ download endlessly. However Map app works fine. Wifi signals strong.
I have reset network setting but all this has done is to wipe all my passwords and networks, and I still cannot connect to the internet. Frustrating!

  • My iPod touch won't charge or connect to my computer but connects to the wall charger!

My iPod is charging fine when connected to the wall charger but when I connect the same to my computer, it does nothing. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! My stupid computer just gives the sound of a USB connecting. That's all! I updated my iTunes from 11 to 12 last night and I haven't connected the iPod to my computer in a while so I don't know when exactly it seized to connect properly. I can't risk going into recovery and requiring to connect to the computer to restore a backup too! What should I do?

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

  • Brand new ipod touch suddenly stopped working. please help!

I was messing around on my brand new ipod touch and it suddenly crashed. it flashed a static-y black and now the screen is bluish white and won't change. I tried holding both the home button and the black button on top of the ipod and neither helped. I even connected it back to my mac book but nothing happened. please help! i've only had it for two days!

That sounds like a mechanical problem.  You might want to insert and remove the headphone plug several times and see if it fixed the issue.  If it does not, call Apple.  800-275-2273 in the U.S.A. and I think Canada.

  • How come my Ipod Touch will only charge when plugged into a computer and not a docking station or wall socket?

My IPhone works with both the charging USB cable as well as the wall socket and docking station.  Additionally, my IPod used to charge using both the wall socket plug in and the docking station.  My IPod will stay play music when plugged into the docking station, but won't charge.  Further, when I plug my IPod into my computer all it will do is charge and is not recognized by ITunes.  I have done both a soft and hard reset.

If the iPhone has no problem with the same cable then
    - See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting

    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
