My ipod touch was trying to update and is now broken how do i fix it
My ipod touch was trying to update but wouldnt finish so i tryed restarting it, it is now frozen on a white screen, wont restart properly, and itunes wont read it. How do i fix it and whats wrong with it??
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

my ipod touch was submerged in water and now it is telling me to connect to itunes, but itunes won't connect until i put in the passcode, and i can't do anything to my ipod until it connects to itunes. so, basically i can't do anything from the ipod or to it from the computor. what should i do?

From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.
There's more to try but let's go a bit at a time. -

If you'll look at the little toolbar above the reply window, you will see an 'A' to the left of the little smiley face. So, if you want to post a link to another site or thread here, first copy that URL (have your cursor in the address bar of that site and hit Command + C to copy. That message usually indicates that your phone was hacked or jailbroken to unlock it.
Then when you updated your phone it locked back up to the original carrier. -
I was trying to sync and update my phone with ITunes, about 5 minutes into the process everything stopped. Now the phone does not work, it will not turn on or off, the screen of the phone shows the Apple Logo and a straight line. ITunes seems to not "see" the phone. Suggestions??

Sooooooo sick of trying to fix the bug with the newest version of itunes and Windows 7. I'm over it. Tried syncing ipod to hubby's laptop. When update and sync was complete, all my apps, music, and pictures were gone. When I open my itunes account on his computer, they are gone from there as well. I cannot open itunes on my computer because I cannot fix the compatability issue. Don't tell me how to go to 'computer', click 'program files' etc. etc...... Did that, unchecked compatability mode and nothing is fixed. About to take a hammer to darned thing.
Also, I have forgotten the password to my backup file, which could solve everthing. I don't really remember ever setting a password for the backup file. Tried every password I've ever used with this device.

The first thing you can do is transfer your iTunes purchases from your iPod Touch to your PC. To do this, choose File -> Transfer Purchases in iTunes. You should authorize your new PC before doing this by clicking the Store drop down menu and selecting Authorize this Computer. Then enter in your Apple ID/iTunes Store account credentials.

Finally, right->click on your iPod Touch under the Devices section in iTunes, and choose Backup. Then after erasing and syncing your iPod, restore from that back up. Or better yet, copy a backup from your old PC to your new one if at all possible. Here is more information on backing up and restoring your iPod . Doing so will restore all of your App data.

what does error (1) mean... not able to restore iPod touch... please help
Usually indicates a hardware failure. Try restoring again, on a different computer if you can. And use Recovery Mode: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808. If that fails then it is nearly certainly a hardware issue as I said.
