- Try placing the iPod in Recovery Mode and restoring via iTunes
- Next try DFU mode and restore.

Hi All, I have purchased a BBC top gear magazine subscription thru the App Store about 6 months ago. This bbc app is no longer available to download in Australia because of the Australian version of the mag now being available. Firstly the app symbol has completely disappeared from my ipad. I can still locate my original purchase in settings>newsstand and subscriptions updates are enabled. My second problem is I cannot download any new magazine editions because a message says I need to update the app. Since their is no app to update on my ipad and the app no longer exists/ is available in App Store Australia I'm kind of stuck. The app is available in the USA App Store but I cannot join because I'm not a resident of the us. Any help would be appreciated thanks Fassihire
I think your best bet here is to contact the app developer. Sounds like you need advanced troubleshooting that someone who is a part of the app would know best how to resolve. Best of luck.

I connected my ipod to my Windows as usual and itunes told me "itunes has detected an ipod in recovery mode. You must restore this ipod before it can be ued with itunes. I did that but nothing happened. itunes displayed the same message again. I restored it again. Nothing. In the meantime, my ipod was absolutely fine. Restoring it wiped out everything of course. I then connected my ipod to my Mac at home. No problems at all! I synced it with Mac without a problem. However, most of my songs areon Windows at work so I need to get to them. Even after Mac's itunes, Windows itunes on my computer still says restore etc. What do I do?Have you had a chance to look at this troubleshooting page? This is a bad situation. Your iPhone is in a state which cannot be backed up, and the Restore will return iPhone to factory specs erasing it. You need to Restore your iPhone to get it working again. If you were experiencing problems before, maybe your iPhone is damaged. If still faulty, and you have Warranty or AppleCare take iPhone to Apple for evaluation. If no coverage and still faulty it may be time for new phone.

Making Apps is not simple. It is a lot of work. Especially if you are doing it as an individual, like myself.
The iOS Developer Program is $99/yr. Same, separate price for the Mac Developer Program. The Safari Developer Program is free, however, but the only "apps" that can make you are webapps. (From the days of iPhone OS 1, before the App Store!)
You can hire a Developer with a Paid Account, but I suggest using iWeb and making a website. You could even use an online website editor to make a mobile version that can be added to the home screen and looks like an app. Or get fancy and use Adobe Dreamweaver. -

Some users has reported that you can't set up an account withut a credt card or payment method if you do that through/while purchasing an app. Try creating a new iTunes account without a credit card on the computer using the link previous provided. Alternately yu shouldbe able to purchase an iTunes gif tcard and and enter that as the payment method.

I just found my old ipod touch (i think 1st generation) and would like to let my toddler use it instead of my phone. I am trying to download apps but it say I need to update to 4.3 but it won't let me update. I have the most recent itunes. any idea why? I saw a thread saying to purchase the newest software (that was posted a few years ago) I paid 4.95 for the software and it's still saying it can't be updated. Am I just SOL??
The 1G iPod can only go as high as 3.1.3. The 1G does not have an internal speaker or volume buttons on the upper left edge.

I tried to update my iPhone 4S but I now keep getting an error saying I need to restore my phone before it can be used because it's in recovery mode! But if I restore it I lose all my media and data and I don't want to do that! Is there anything I can do?? Somone please help, i'm freaking out over here!
Anything that was on the phone is already gone. You have no choice but to restore. If you were backing up and syncing the phone on a regular basis, you should be able to restore your backup with minimal data loss.

It should have backed up automatically at the start of the update process. And you should be saving photos from your phone to your computer regularly, just like you would with any digital camera. If you were not doing this you MAY lose the photos, but if your backup at the start of the update was successful you will not. Just DO NOT sync after the update, until you have restore the backup and verified that it is OK.
What error message did you get during the update? Before you restore do the following:
Reboot your computer
Connect to a USB port on the computer directly, not a hub
disable your antivirus and firewall
Launch iTunes
Finally, connect the phone and restore. -
My ipod was being updated, computer went on standby - now itunes says i need to restore it?! But i CANT loose my notes, what do i do?! Hw do i fix or repair/resore and get it all back - without loosing anything. Its 32GB, i will do anyhing to avoid loosing my data/notes (600+), and current appox 23000 pics (20000 loaded on computer)
Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything...
To minimise loss... Connect to iTunes on the computer you Usually Sync with and Restore from the most recent Backup...

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5.2 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.2 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Older versions of Pages 5 can not open files from later versions of Pages 5.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud and opened in a newer version of Pages is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed almost 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

After adding the latest update to my 5c iphone, the screen was black, with the itune logo in the center, a white arrow below it point to the logo, and below that, what seemed to be a white lock, but it had a long white line reaching the bottom of the screen. I can't get the phone to start. The white apple appears and then I get the same logo, arrow, etc. What can I do to fix this? Thanks for any assistance.
